I was going through some reels and I noticed I was listening to a tape I already had...however this was the "CEC" version. This tape has sight but noticeable differences like on the "CEC" version, Chuck E. would start the show, but on the "Showbiz" version Jasper would and the lines weren't the same. I knew they put a lot of effort into the shows back then but...WOW They really wanted the restaurants to stand apart it seems. lol :hat

What was Jasper doing in a Showbiz Pizza show?

Some Showbiz locations actually had a CEC Show i think as i too have heard some variations on show reels from the "merger" era before CU.

A good example is the late 80's Birthday Show, commonly referred to as the "Parade of Cakes" show. Their are two different versions of it, one for each resturant, but both are pretty much the same except for a lyric change at the end of the show. Near the end, the PT Players sing the CEC jingle "Where a Kid can Be a Kid" but on the Showbiz version they sing that it's SHOWBIZ PIZZA where a kid can be a kid!

Crazy hearing them sing that....:b

Okay so this was still the RAE at the SPP locations? Who was doing the voices? Or was this post CU?

Dude...when the cec/showbiz merger thing happened in like 87..some cec's were renamed "showbiz pizza". They still had the cec show inside though. rock_afire.tripod.com/info/franchise/spt87/index.html (http://rock_afire.tripod.com/info/franchise/spt87/index.html)

Yes Jenn! great example..the Birthday extraveganza was done as a cec and a showbiz pizza birthday. That is how this other skit was it had differences like that where one mentioned showbiz and the other cec. :hat

Plus when they changed all the Rock A Fires to Munch bands they didn't change the name to Chuck E Cheese's right away. They had a newer showbiz pizza logo for a couple of years.

And it wasn't until 1991-1992 that ShowBiz Pizza changed its name to Chuck E. Cheese's Pizza.

Argh...don't remind me....

Showbiz was cool, but let's face it....it really was nothing more then a Pizza Time Theatre ( aka CEC's) ripoff. This is well documented. The ONLY thing that made Showbiz cool was the SHOW. The RAE is still the greatest animated show ever created...even better then Disney's efforts in my mind and that's saying a LOT. It's a dang shame that the RAE show had to die off and be tragically replaced with the "lame" CEC themed show. It was the ultimate disgrace to rip the RAE character cosmetics off and replace them with CEC character ones. It was a horror to dedicated RAE fans.

Yeah, i know....this is coming from a major PTT/CEC supporter but the CEC of today is nothing compared to the Glory Days of PTT/CEC and Showbiz in the 80's. It's nearly impossible for someone who was'nt involved in CEC/Showbz back then to understand really the magnitude of exactly HOW different it was. I need The Captain to get on here and rave...he was there just as i was!

CU was really depressing from a fans point of view..man, just being reminded of that point in time is making me feel all melencholy.

If ONLY we could have had a RAE style animated show...man, that would have ROCKED beyond belief!! Studio C just scratches the surface....

It's a pipe dream..i know...having a full size, fully animated show again....oh well. Thank goodness we have memories and videotapes to remind us of the past triumphs!

Studio C is better than nothing at all I guess but that's about all I can say for it.
