It's high time we started a new PTT thread....it's been a while!

Well here's a topic i thought fun to talk about...everyone's favorite Purple Pizza Eater, Mr. Munch.

So what was his purpose really? Was he a Grimace ripoff or what? Why did he have to "replace" Crusty the Cat who we so worship??

Okay...so he's a Purple Pizza Eater from Pizza Planet...that much we know. But what's the REAL story behind Munch??

So he's called "Mister"....does this mean there is a Mrs. Munch too? I would assume so...after all we have a Munch Junior!!

Munch was scary when he 1st arrived in 1978...think Hamburgler on steriods. Then he mellowed out in the early 80's and became loveable and a wee bit absentminded. But since the 90's, he seems to be trying to emulate the late, great, gorillia we all adore, Fatz.

And what about those rumors we have all heard about Munch and Chuck E.....hmmm....Whassup with dat?????

So let's hear all your opinions on the Ol' Munchmeister. We love him...and he derserves some attention here in the Pizza Time Place!

Munch and Chuck? It was always Munch and Jasper or Munch and Pasqually or Jasper and Chuck E...at least, all of the rumors I'VE heard...8o

Mr. Munch used to have a gruff monster voice and nowadays has a soulful style voice.

OK now.... lets not bash the Munch-ster! Where would Munches Makebelieve Band be with out him? And remember the is CEC-PTT related not RAE! Munch was deffinitly alot cooler back in the older days and not the "Barry White" wanna be he is now. And as far as Munch and Chuck.... Well... only his closest friends really know!

Barney is evil. Munch is cool.

Loved the song though Mike.....man that was clever. You rock dude!!

Munch is awesome. We were very lucky to have Munch grace us with his presence at the recent CheeseVention. He was fabulous....although his eating kinda got out of hand before the event and he really did'nt get to do any live shows with us that night. We all loved having him and hope he can make it next time!

Munch is fun and i'm glad he's around...my only issue is that because of him deciding to come down to earth from Planet Pizza and joining the Pizza Time Players, we had to kiss my hero Crusty the Cat goodbye!!

It's not fair!!! Crusty RULED!!

Why did he have to go bye-bye?????

By the way, Chuck E. Cheese's is the funder of Barney and Friends on PBS Kids.

You said Munch couldn't live up to Barney. I guess you meant to say Barney couldn't live up to Munch. That's funny tho that CEC supports Barney. The 3 stage version of Munch and the walkaround costume look an awful lot like that annoying purple dinosaur.

CaptSlappy & I were disacussing this on our first trip to CEC's home office together back in 2003 & we determined Munch probably had a divorce @ some time or another but it's never been publically stated as such.

No!, wait there WAS a female munch though! On the "Working for a Living 92" show she looked like him but she was pink and had long hair. He shared a dance with her...but that's all so where'd munch jr. come from..hmm maybe he's her kid :lol

Ok, just curious here... rewinding a bit, but how did the Sally Sashay showtape come up? Why that one out of all the showtapes? Out of the many PTT reels I have heard there is no reference at all to a Mrs. Munch. There was a song somewhere in a Helen Henny show where Mr. Munch mentions his "Munch Monster girl friend" before he does a song, but there is no name given or mention of her being pink. I don't recall what reel or what the song was. This alleged female Munch from 1992 is a CEC thing, not PTT. It must have been a 1 time deal for that one show tape and not really any sort of "official" ongoing thing like the many refs to Fatz's girlfriend Ezmerelda Jones. In other words, there isn't really much else to say on the subject.

Hey, I've never even talked to J about it, but I know enough to tell you that there's SOMETHING going on...
But to me, the ties that bond seem to be as follows...
Chuck/Jasper/Munch...hmmm...
And Mat, the rumor has been going on since the begining of time...probably since 1977, even.
When I joined the board and heard about this rumor, it all started to make sense ;)

Also, if you listen to KING II I beleive (not sure what it is), from 1990, the King sings "You Can Have Her," and at the beginning he says, "Well, Mr. Munch. We've been fighting fo this girl for a while, and I'm here to say:" and then he sings the song, or something like that, so possibly Munch took this advice and got Munch Jr. on his free time...

Just look at the way Munch looks at Chuck, and how Chuck always "ignores" and weezles his way out of the "love songs" with Helen.
All the video shot with her is just for "show".
Chuck and Munch are, and always will be an item!
Yes he does mention a Munch Monster girl friend(in a christmas tape I believe, but that was a long time ago before the closet doors were allowed to be opened!;)

Am I the only one freaked out by the fact that we've got people who are complaining about Chuck's image already and then adding another spin... that he's waving the rainbow flag? And just because Munch is purple doesn't mean he's hiding the pride somewhere, too.

Yeah, he also talks about his Munch Monster Girlfriend in 2 other shows: The Summertime 1988 Show which does lead to him singing "Tip-toe Through The Tulips"....:embarassed: So Haha that doesn't really argue that he's straight...

The other time he mentions her is on the Tune Machine show which leads to him singing "Witch Doctor" :laugh:

I'm not saying homosexuality is wrong at all... my comment was more how it's an assumption. Kind of like it's rude to assume someone has come out of the closet when they haven't yet or are straight. People (or creatures) just act weird sometimes.

I agree but I think the bigger issue is that some people spend time in their day thinking about fictional characters as if they were real, living, breathing beings (and ones with sex lives, at that!). It's just really weird.

There is a proper term for it:

"Fan Fiction"

or...

"Fan Fics"

There are entire sites dedicated to this sort of thing ( creating stories about non-exsisting characters)...just about every major cartoon character or famous entity has one! LOL!

Seriously...they exsist. All it is are fans having a bit of imaginative fun. No one here can say it has never happened here either.....

Oh man, this has gotten way out of hand. As Jenn said, it is just fan fiction. We are just having fun here.... Munch and Chuck have been known to "check each other out" live and on stage, but it is just the possition of the characters are placed and their eye contact due to programing.
Im sorry to say that those that took this post way to serious, have taken all the fun out of this disscussion. I will still promote the "myth" but I dont think I will post anything more on this topic.
BTW.... I have a few friends that live their lives their "own way" and I wish them all the best, there is nothing wrong with being gay, and I believe that as long as you are not hurting anyone, you can live your life the way you want too.
I don't understand how everytime I post I'm somehow ruining someone else's day because I ask questions or have an opposing opinion. I think they're too many myths, egos and ledends out there that some people don't believe in. All my point was that it's interesting how people can come to a conclusion that a character is homosexual (haha maybe that word ruined the discussion) just by a few things. It just proves how wrong some things are in this world. People assume everyday someone or something is 'gay' without truly understanding the word. Sorry my opinion ruined this thread.

Totally agree with this statment! Whatever makes you happy in life, do it. As long as you are not doing any harm to others, you live your life the way you want.
