Yeah I loved those too! I was given one of the blue checkered ones with the pole when a store here remodeled. I later recieved an older "rat" CEC one and sold the checkered one to Brian I think...maybe he can post a pic of it.

The flags were cool. One thing I do remember is they more danced than waved. Due to the design the bottom of the flag didn't flap much like a flag blowing in the wind would. They were still neat though. Here is an interesting note... the flags were wired to the guest's valve manifold. These movements were independent of the 8 movements of the guest character. There were 6 flags total and all of each flag were considered one movement. Example: All the CEC flags in the room waved off the same selinoid, all of the rebel flags were another, etc. I think the flags changed over time and one of the flags was the state. I'll have to look it up, but I believe they were: The US flag, state flag, CEC flag, Italian flag, Rebel flag (may just have been southern stores only), and the blue checkered one. I am not sure what that flag represented. It may have replaced the rebel flag later on. Up until about 10 or 15 years ago, the rebel confederate flag was not considered offensive. That was something that came along with the political correctness introduced in the early 90s but that is another discussion...

The checkered flags replaced all the "rat" cec flags. They had the CEC face with a ring around his face from '90 on them like the tokens and came in red, blue, green and the CEC faces were in white and were meant to go with the checkered design cec moved to in the 90s ;) Here's a partial pic...

I checked and there were only 5 flags at one time. Not 6.

I do have a few and the flag waver mech's. I too thought they were cool, because as a kid I thought that there was someone behind the wall moving them! Okay, I am a lot wiser now.

Nice pic of the CEC blue checkered flag!
I never recognized about the flags in the main CECPTT show room even in my 1983-1985 CECPTT visits mostly to the long gone Hoffman Estates, IL location.

the flags were awesome! i dont remember that they "danced" or had independent movements though. maybe they got lazy in the later years of programming? or the movements werent completely working anymore? it could just be cuz i was so young. but i only remember the flags waving left and right (all types moving together) during the chorus of songs.

They probably didn't work. They actually moved. I said they more danced because of what I said above. The flags were heavy enough the bottoms didn't really wave. It gave it more of a dancing effect than it looking like it was blowing in the wind. The pole went left and right when they were on. It's just like how a kid would wave a minitures American flag side to side at a parade.

The flags were a great plus to the Showroom atmosphere. When all those suckers were going all at once, usually at the conclusion of a show...it blew your mind!
I always thought something like this should be reintroduced. It would certainly liven up the place and we have a whole new generation of kids that would see it as something brand new.
It'll never happen though...as this was one of PTT's hallmarks.

Oh, I remember the waving flags and the board of all the clapping hands/paws/etc... I remember it used to freak me out a little bit when I was younger, but now I wish I could go back and see them (as well as the old school Pizza Time Theater).

There were 2 versions one had the "frog feet" like yours in Corpus and the others had "duck feet" like the one here in San Antonio...and in alot of other pictures.
