In the chicken fingers thread there was talk of the low carb pizza going away. Made me think, what other things have been on the CEC menu that are a thing of the past?
There are the cookies, brownies, and rice krispies treats desserts that gave way to Apple Pizza and cinnamon sticks.

MyGM was telling me that years ago there was a taco pizza that was made with like a 50/50 mix sauce/refried beans, then was topped with lettuce and tomato after it came out of the oven.

What other kinds of items do we know of that have gone into testing and gotten the axe, or were around and just aren't anymore?

Chicken Ceasear Salad
Calazones
Turkey Bacon Melts

at least at my local location you could get an individual slice of cake but it's not on the menu anymore (it was on it when the previous owner had the store)

Up in these parts most PTT's/CEC's had a Dessert Bar in the early to mid 80's that was a pain in the patooie to keep clean ( think of your worst Bev Bar mess ever...times 20!). Kids could make there own ice cream sundaes so you can well imagine how messy it was ( not to mention unsanitary with all those little nose-pickin' fingers taste testing....ewll) :eek

The old original PTT's had a load of different sandwichs and High-Protein pizza for the health crowd back in the day, as well as frozen yogurt.

We did'nt get a lot of the test items up here...and still don't for some reason.

The brownies and stuff were awful. They were like eating bricks!

I just remembered the boxes of CEC cookies that used to be in the stores. Jenn had a box @ CV2. They were like Mcdonaldland cookie ripoffs only they tasted worse. Mark my words Jenn,DON'T open that box for consumption purposes.

Okay i won't.....because i can't, they were'nt mine! :lol

( Boy i feel lucky now!)

Yeah, Harm is right....most of the pre-wrapped food itmes were a bit nasty. I think this had more to do with the fact that they sat on the counter for ages and were'nt as "fresh" as they could have been.

The brownies are a good example!

They could be really yicky if no one rotated them!

Those rice crispy-style treats were a bit nasty too...talk about eating bricks! These actually tasted like you were eating the styrophoam pellets out of a packing crate!

Mmmm...yummy!! :b

This is a neat thread... thanks to Puromax for getting it started.

Those CEC cookies were awesome! I think they were Nevin's... I took a photo of it... let me see if I can get it posted here.

Do they still sell french fries there? Forgive me if I'm asking a stupid question here... whenever I eat there I only get pizza or breadsticks. On ebay I bought a box of party hats, but they were big 'fry cones'.

The first CECPTT in San Jose, California in 1977 served frozen yogurt for dessert.

Yes. French Fries are still on the menu Vega...and i know what you mean about those Fry Cones!

Back in 2001 or so, they started serving the fries in a very neat star-shaped wire fry caddie. It looked like a funky votive candle holder....it held the Fry Cone in the middle, and had seperate holders on the sides to hold the ketchup and ranch sauce. I thought they were great as it really made the fries look showy, and it certainly caught the Guests eyes when it was served. The bad part was that it was simply a fancy way of making it look as if you were getting more fries then were actually there! The cone had a piece of paper wrapping inside that made it look fuller then it actually was....

Anyway, the cones went bye-bye about a year or so later....now they are just back to being served on a pizza tray. Boring......

We still have those.
It's awesome, because no other place ever serves ranch dressing with fries...and it's a pity! They go so well together!

Yeah, we had those in 2001 and left like u said a couple years ago. Now from some odd reason, we serve are fries with ranch, ketchup, and PIZZA SAUCE! I have to say, they r good with pizza sauce!

Me too. I get very annoyed when they don't have it, though. I might start carrying some around in my purse! :lol

Some fracnhised CECPTT locations in 1984-1986 served Good Humor Ice Cream Bars. This was long before current CEC locations had the ice cream bar (and other ice cream novelties) machines.

I LOVED the cookies, when I would open, we had 'cookie time' - at like 10am, pop a cookie in the oven for like 12 seconds and it was AWESOME!!!

what about garlic bread and garlic bread with cheese??? - or GBWC as we called it....I used to still make that all the time until we got the Ciabatta Bread...doesnt really work too well with those rolls
