Those who have read the newsletter (or have seen the new video footage) will know the walkaround costume is being modified. Personally- I was hoping for another outfit, but the Avenger seems to be working for the moment. I don't want to leave anything out, so I'll quote Page 2 of That's Entertainment:

----------------------------------------------------
NEW RE-DESIGNED WALK AROUND COMING SOON!

Yes, it's true! The Walk Around Costume has been almost completely re-designed from top to bottom. Through many hours of hard work and research, the Entertainment Department has drastically improved the look of the Chuck E. costume for the stores. What's different? The biggest change of all is the shoes. Totally new in design, the new shoes offer more comfort and easier access for the performer's foot and more agility to perform better! On top of that, they look really cool! What's next? The fur! Yes, we've gone and changed the fur... it's smoother, looks better, and feels more real than the old fur. It should also hold up longer. Next... we redesigned the hands! Smaller, more comfortable, and no more vinyl! Chuck E.'s palms now made of leather for more durability and control (you can actually pick up tokens)!

The fat suit has been redesigned to be cooler and more breathable. Furthermore, it is more adjustable to fit a wider range of performers (and also washable). The legs are redesigned to stay inside the shoes! And what about snag resistance mesh so they don't get torn up by the Velcro? Very cool! All these cool changes and we didn't even mention that we straightened Chuck's teeth so they'll stay in his head, and we also reinforced the adhesion of Chuck's fur to his chin so it won't come off. We love seeing Chuck E. in your stores! And we're excited about seeing him in his new design and look!

----------------------------------------------------

Any gramatical errors are not my fault ;) I typed exactly what is in the letter.

Anyway, it seems pretty cool. We just got a new head about a month ago, so I'm not sure if we'll get the redesigned head right away. Seems nice, though! :D

Chuck E.'s palms now made of leather for more durability and control (you can actually pick up tokens)!Yeah, if you guyz look really close in the Sept. 2005 show, it looks like Chuck is wearing his new costume, but I really dont know...I watched "I love a Rainy Night" and Chuck has his old hands on, but in "Somebody is watching me" hes wearing a newly modified hands?!?!?!

Someone here correct me if im wrong, but thats what I saw!

yup Chuck E is definetally wearing the new costume parts in most of the song. for "i love rainy nights" he's wearing the old ones for a reason. he gets wet in that song. and they dont wanna get there new parts all messed up

I've only seen it in the video footage so far, but the upgrades will be nice. The average guest, however, won't be able to recognize any change.

Of course- we wanted a new outfit, but it makes sense to stick with the Avenger- it's everywhere!

True..and personally i am in no hurry for the Avenger outfit to go away. I rather like it. It's probably the most decent and sharp looking outfit to come out since 2000's Blue Sportshirt look.

Personally i think it's time they introduce a totally new look for the Rat, walkaround head wise. All the new marketing materials and tv ads all feature the now familiar "Toddler-Cheese" head ( huge ears, small rounded-down nose, etc.). I think many a performer would enjoy having Chuck with a smaller, more rounded nose that is more in tune with his current image. As much as i like the "old" head design look....i think it would be nice to have a update.
