I hope the Paula Abdul song in the September 2005 show is "Opposites Attract" (may be used as a duet with Chuck E. and Helen that wouldn't match up to the Paula/M.C. Skat Kat music video for that song) or "Forever Your Girl" or "The Promise of a New Day" or "Knocked Out".

That'd be cool. It'd also be neat to see if they could parody the video...Helen singing with an animated Chuck E?
I don't know. Just a thought.

i stronly agree they need new intermission music. me its the same thing ive been working at my store for a year and a half and ive heard the same intermission music for that long so ya. dont get me wrong i love the 1 minute intermission beat(i used it at my last DJ show and no1 knew it was a CEC beat) but the 2min is kinda anoying to a point

See, my point has been taken!

dont get me wrong i love the 1 minute intermission beat(i used it at my last DJ show and no1 knew it was a CEC beat) but the 2min is kinda anoying to a point
O, AGREED! I love the current break music, (I love all the break music!) but after a year in a half......im getting sick of it too!|I :\
I dont even have a band....but I do lighting for local school bands and if I talk to them and have them make a random 1minute and a random 2minute song (with no lyrics)...I would give it to Dept. 18 for free, as long as they toss it in the new show!;)

Cool stuff Brian! Thanks for the show schedule.

Couple quick questions maybe you or anybody who has access to the "That's Entertainment" newsletter can help me out with:

1) Is there a new Live Show?

2) Is Super Chuck E Road Show still valid?

3) Are stores suppose to hang onto Summer '05 to use next year, or is it finally retired?

Thanks!

That sucks. Does anyone know if (and HOW) the writers wrote (or will write) that into the show for the kiddos (or the average customer who doesn't grasp the concept of random movements)?

first, to answer your questions:

no new live show

i didnt hear that the super chuck road show wasnt valid, the rest of the cd has to be playable since it has the other stuff on it, i probably wouldnt play the super chuck song anymore

and...i didnt hear anything about sending the old tape back

ok, so after everyone left while we were finishing up closing, i popped in the new show. i think its pretty sweet. i liked it. i was definitely sick of the summer show. its a decent mix of songs and such and it has some new intermissions i think, i dont think i remember those. ahhh, and the monkey ninjas. gotta be one of my favorite non cec spots, well yea, probably my absolute fav.

as for live show, we started doing the swing again. we havent done it since we opened (year and a half) so we messed around with it sunday morning, tweaked a few things and started using it today. that has got to be in my top 5 for live show dances. its a good one

I don't even think they'll make note of it. Chuck even mentions "taking a break"... then stands there.0]

On a lighter note, I remember hearing that Michael is the new show programmer? He's done pretty good for his first show! Helen's "Forever Your Girl" is definately my favorite;) Nice work, guys!;)

WOW, this show has programming problems. I went and saw it today at my 3 stage store and there are spots where the characters don't move or look at the other character talking. You really CAN tell a difference in the programmers...I never believed it. Mike DID do some really cool stuff with the eyes and eyelids like just USED them alot which...these days things like that seem to be left minimal. Pasqually's curtain motor burned out but isn't gonna be replaced since the new "random movement" eprom is coming soon :rolleyes This show seemed like it had shorter intermissions...or at least fewer countdowns...But the curtains still work and ARE programmed still for 3 stages. During "Mayberry" Chuck's curtains close. :eek

Well I have to say I enjoyed this show, not only the songs, but the whole different feel of it. The show had indeed improve, and the characters had more to say than ever. The new team really did fantastic, I feel the programming(on a CEC Stage) is not different much.

Pros:
*Favorite song had to be Mayberry: Jasper did awesome on this song, and I also never heard this whole song before and I really thought for a country tune it was great. Forever Your Girl was great too, my close other fav.
*The originals were nice, Might Take Some Time was a rocking tune, and Homework was pretty cool, a bit odd for a Munch song but cool, rapping about homework makes me look forward to this school year.:rollin
*The new footage was cool, most of the songs had new character footage, wow, it was really good I have to say, the redesigned Chuck looks no different execpt the fur and hands.
*Programming, well Mike really did a good job, I have to say the programming didn't feel much different to me, execpt Pasqually's drumming, and the eyelids were moving more than ever.
*The dialoge was really great, there was really unique lines, and they were the first I have laughed at for years...especially Jasper's last line at Segment 4.;)

Cons:
*The intermissions are my biggest cons. The intermissions felt a bit bland in this showtape. There wasn't anything really good.
*Spring Cleaning: Sure it might be a classic short intermission to fans, but I really thought this time this felt really out of place. I mean, spring cleaning...and a September show mixed together with everything else being new?? Weird.
*Countdowns: The music was pretty bland, what they used was good character footage(execpt countdown 3) but very boring music.

I really thought the show would just be ok, but I actually really liked it alot, I didn't love it like crazy, but I have to say it was a rockin' showtape!:D

OMG OMG OMG!!!!!:D :D :D
IT SUCKED! LOL:lol , that was a amazing show, I recieved it today, and popped it in our show! And WOW, I sat there (on the Clock:o ) and watched it twice throgh.....My managers told me to start working, but I sat there and told them to shut it, (so I almost got fired!) Anyways, back to the show, there were things I loved about the show, and things I disliked...
(Talking about the studio c version of the show)
1. The LIGHTING of the show couldn't of been any better! WOW! They totally put those ROBOSCANS to work!:D :D
2. The song selection of the show were the perfect choices! GREAT SONGS!
(DISLIKES)
1. NO FREAKIN CURTAINS! OMG, My bot today got his hat and eye lashes(:x ) torn off of him.....if there were curtains closed....that probably never would of happened!>: >: >: (B.T.W. did anyone notice what the announcer says in the beginning of Segment two? He says: "Lets bring out our favorite mouse, Chuck E. Cheese!" Well, first of all, he didn't go anywhere....he's totally bolted to the floor[:lol ;) >D ] and if the curtains are open now 24/7, everyone noticed he's been on stage the whole time....so when the announcer says that, it totally doesn't make any sense if Chuck didn't go anywhere!:| :lol
2. RANDOM MOVEMENTS! :x :x :x :x HORRIBLE! He looks SO BAD(:x :x :x ) especially during the live shows!:x :x :rolleyes
3. Bot movements during the show, (no offense to anyone or anything here) I could totally tell it was Mike's first show of programming, the lighting was AMAZING, but the bot looked exactly like he was in Random movements...just his his mouth moving the words.....:x (Another B.T.W., I could totally tell that if the curtains were still programmed in the show....the during Jasper's Mayberry song, Chuck's curtains would of been closed, cuz right after Jasper starts singing, the bot goes into his regular sitting postion, and then goes into random movements.)
4. This one isn't as bad, but I noticed in the intermission segments.... there was A LOT of reused material from the April 05 show, including sound and video! Kind of cheesey >D

Other wise, this show ROCKED! The new veggietales if REALLY FUNNY! CPMN is also funny and ROCKS!

Just saw the new show at a Studio C stage the other day for the Review, and I noticed they didn't update their show with the random movements.

So the character sat there in the default position during the intermissions...and it is indeed programmed with a few movements during the "Mayberry" song.
Of interest, though, the curtains did close after the Fundraising Spot, since the programming was reused from the September 2004 Show.

Also of interest - and I need confirmation from other board members that visit or work at Studio C stores - the Play-Doh Spot isn't in the Studio C version. I bet the spot is on the dvds, there is just a programming error.

Also, in great disappointment, the puppets once again don't appear during the songs a la the shows from 2004.

Without curtains for the stage and no puppets singing the songs - it looks like Studio C has hit rock bottom. |I

Hmm, well you guys know my stand on Studio C's, lighting, better sound and extra movements never did anything for me. I was around AND into it from an early(better) era...Studio C, at it's best(alpha) has always looked crappy and boring to ME. I'm just used to a show with 5 or more characters and even extra ones in other rooms. :( :( :(

Jasper
09-11-2005, 12:33 PM
When I first started working for CEC back in '99, I felt the same way about Studio C. This was during the era that the "other characters" were going to be phased out, and the emphasis on the show was the interactive elements, such as the blue screen and interactive desk.

But the first few shows I watched at my Studio C stage had so much stuff going on and really made me a fan of the unique stage - I mean:

*At the time of the World Adventure and Holiday Party shows, there were three different videos going on at the same time. On one monitor it might be the puppets, the next might have the main video footage, while the third has special footage just for the blue screen. Those first few shows had themed backgrounds for the specific song going on (example, the Just For Kids Show had close-ups of a desk during that "Where Is Chuck E" song). That's why there are 3 dvds to run the show.

*Studio C also had different dialogue segments than their Existing Stages counterparts. Chuck E and Bird interacted a lot during the World Adventure show. There were even Studio C - only blue screen interactive intermissions added to shorter shows like Summertime. Plus there were "Chuck E's Star Search" spots for shows that had the karaoke option...which made shows even longer. It was definitely a different experience than going to a 3 Stage store.

*And there were little things back then that enhanced Studio C...each show had its own Birthday Break, each show had its own Live counterpart...plus each Studio C is brand new, so every movement, lighting, and effect was always working at each store.

That was back in 1999, 2000, and 2001. Studio C in general feels a lot cheaper today. We barely get new Birthday Break music and new Live Shows. The video is mostly of the main footage without the puppets during songs. No technician out there can get the stupid Warp effect working. There isn't anything special and different about the Studio C segments and intermissions compared to the Existing Stage version.

And limiting the character's movements from 34 to 16, plus redesigning the stage to make it look cheaper (Beta and Cappa), plus getting rid of the curtains - is really destroying the point and feel of this unique animatronic stage.

Well i finally saw the show today...and was not very impressed or excited.

The only parts that made any impression on me at all was "Who Can It Be Now" ( the video has a nice nod to Matt S.), "Forever Your Girl" ( for Helen's vocals....she's always a winner) and Jasper's "Mayberry" which was a nice slant for a otherwise "kiddiefied" show.

The BEST part of the whole program was the wonderful retro bumper featuring Tux Chuck from the early 90's. WOw, what a treat to see that! That's the one thing that got my attention and made me perk up. The rest of it. as a whole effort, was a bit bland for my tastes. A very dull show, but i did appreciate that there was at least SOME effort put into what the characters said to each other this time.

All of the intermission have been shortend which was good to see, but none of them were entertaining. A shame really...again, it's the old retro intermissions that steal the spotlight everytime when compared to the new stuff. They are going to have to stop doing this as it's so obvious the newer stuff is lame! :x

The programming was okay.....i saw this on a 2 stage so it had all the basic moves covered. Just the usual generic movements covered..nothing exspecially noticable.

I found this show to be very much for the kiddies...i think part of that was it had a very light feel to it. Chuck's speaking tone also seemed a bit "up there" and he sounds more like a kid now then ever before, but maybe that's just my ears. I did detect a more light tone in Duncans vocals though.

So overall....not that great in my book. I was'nt expecting much anyway.

Let's hope the New Year will bring with it a show that will actually be somewhat exciting. The last show i was really into was January 2004 ( i think...it was that long!)

i loved this show. i liked it alot. it was great for mike hills first show i think. i like what he did with the roboscans and the light patterns. im a dj remember so one thing ireally focus is on the lights and the diffrent patterns wth the songs and intermissions

I have not seen the "Studio C" version of this show yet, so my opinion was based solely on my experience seeing it for the first time with a 2 stage.

I find that if my local 2-Stage version of it does'nt impress me, give Studio C a try and then decide.
However, it's the show material itself, regardless of what stage it's seen on, that really matters....and September seems to come off as being a weak show to me.

Just my thoughts on it....

im a dj remember so one thing ireally focus is on the lights and the diffrent patterns wth the songs and intermissions

Sweet, same here!;)
Jenn, when you go to see the show at a Studio C store, definently keep an eye out and watch those roboscans, he did an excellent job programming them to the beat and picked the perfect gobos (patterns) to match the music.
