**Making Magical Memories

Alright, here we go:
This is our newest program starting sometime this week (today for my store) and ending in January. This program has is ok.:\ The logo is Chuck in his Wizard Costume. The only thing differen't about this program is that the cast follow these three rules:
1. Cast must say "It's my pleasure..." or "It was my pleasure..." instead of "Your Welcome" or "No problem"
2. Cast must follow the 5-10 rule. That rule is if a cast member is within 5 feet of a guest, they MUST say something verbally to them( i.e. "Are you having a Magical day?") If a cast member is within 10 feet of you, they must smile or wave.
3. The cast must use the word(s) magic or magical in every sentence they say. (I.E. "Have a magical time!" or "Have a magical day/night!")

Yeah, this sounds like a failure guys!!!:eek
I think the whole point of this program is to make the Cast more lively and actually have them make magic where they work.

"What about the cast video" you may ask. They have this whole speal on what to do for our guests...and the rules...etc. I don't know who the annoucers were, probably Dick Frank and the other important guy.:rollin Umm, yeah, I know Rob is in the video...as an example of the cast at CEC today....That's all I can say about it now.
Any people on here that work at CEC can fill in what I missed, but WELCOME to CEC MAKING MAGICAL MEMORIES!!!!! Have a MAGICAL TIME!!!!!!

It's a total rip-off f what Disney has been doing for years in it's theme parks!

Disney CM's have been saying "Have a Magical Day" for ages until very recently...some still do though it is no longer a Disney Company standard.

I find it interesting over the years to see how much CECE tries to imitate the Disney organization. And you thought it was only the Pin Lanyard thingy.....heh heh....

Or back when CEC had nametags: The last one was a total copy of Disney's. Same shape....mascot at the top....etc. Disney did a whole study to design those nametags (they found the oval shape was the most pleasing and fit into all cast costumes the best) and I think its funny how CEC just blatantly copied them.

Don't even get me started on the pin trading, or the "cast members", even some signage....lol

Now if they would just copy Disney in the entertainment dept.

thats exactly what i was thinking as i was reading the original post.

i was like "wait... is this a joke? cuz thats exactly what disney uses."

...but i guess u guys are really serious...?

wow... i hope disney sues cec somehow. maybe thats what they need to make them start thinking for themselves.

the very first time i saw the cec wizard costume i thought of the mickey wizard costume! (fantasmic, fantasia, etc)

hmmm... and now that i think about it... theyre both mice. i wouldnt be surprised if the characters randomly get new names...

chuck e. cheese becomes chuckey mouse
helen henny becomes helen ducky (copy daisy ...she already looks like a duck)
munch becomes mabu ("muh - boo" like abu with a m) :lol
jasper becomes ja****o ("juh - slew - toe" like pluto) :rollin
pasqually becomes walty :eek

Something I wonder, if children associate Chuck E Cheese with Disney...

Nowadays many younger kids think any cartoon is disney, and maybe CEI is capitilizing on that....

The video is hosted primarily by Todd Horschner and Denis Richardson. At first they go through CEC, having no interaction with anybody, saying how "Good service just isn't good enough anymore". The gameroom attendant bringing the pizza is hilarious, as he just gingerly tosses it onto the table saying "Pizza, plates" and just walks off without even taking the table tent number!
I was watching this video alongside Steven Hatton, and I asked him "is that Robert's house?" to which he replied "Either Robert or Todd's... I'm pretty sure it's Robert's" So, for those of you who've seen it, you get a glimpse of Robert Gotcher's living room!
Another glitch in this video that I managed to catch on the fly:
You get introduced to the "magical gameroom attendant" through the eyes of the guest, but this girl shows up in the background of several other shots, and in them all she's wearing a manager shirt! FRAUD!! lol
I think that's pretty much everything to cover in this video, as far as the campaign goes, it's nothing new really. The 5/10 rule has always been in the fine print of the training manual. All we're doing now is making hospitality a primary focus. There's no ad campaign involved so it really can't fail. Chuck E. Cheese is a money making machine... and if it can change the life of just one child, then it's all worth while.

I have to agree that over the past few years it has become painfully obvious that CEC is seriously ripping Disney. I suppose if we want to get technical, then it was from the very beginning ( having animatronic entertainment for example).

I also know that many small kids confuse Chuck with Mickey and it's no small wonder these days. As much as the Company would like it to be, Chuck E. will NEVER be Mickey Mouse. Heck, Chuck is'nt even a mouse to begin with...he's a RAT passing himself off as a mouse as it's more politically correct in today's times!

Today more kids are exposed to Chuck on a more regular basis then Mickey, so to be fair i can state that for many children, Chuck IS "their" Mickey. That's fine...and it's nice to be able to make a kids day that way. Just don't go too over the edge...Disney is Disney and Chuck E will never be that no matter how hard it tries. It has come pretty close in the past ( shoot, Disney almost bought em' out!) but today i don't see it happening at all.

Times have a way of changing things though.....

Another interesting note here, is that the newest Big Giant Merch Kick Ball is kind of ripping off Disney...
The first ball was purple and had Chuck reaching out.
The second ball was the Super Chuck Ball.
And the new one we just recieved has Chuck's face all over it doing differen't expressions...(I.E. shocked, happy, sad, winking etc...)
I don't know how many times i've seen Mickey Mouse just like that all over Disney Merch, but its everywhere!!!

How FUNNY you mention this Jenn because just the other day I was @ my CEC & a birthday kid called the CEC walkaround MICKEY

Also when I was there NO attempt whatsoever was made to use the 5/10 protocol.

Ha!

When i used to "help out" Chuck E, many times kids would call me Mickey. This happened more often when Chuck was dressed in his old Tuxedo...but even the 2000 Sport outfit made him look very 'Mickey-ish'. It was mostly toddlers and younger kids who mistakingly called him Mickey.

Who would'nt want to have a character kids love as much as Mickey Mouse? Chuck E. is the next best thing for many children and the Company capitilizes on this now big time.
