How many CEC locations are in the New Orleans, Louisiana area? I bet almost all of them didn't survive the wrath of Hurricane Katrina and the flood waters. Also: Any New Orleans CEC locations once former ShowBiz locations?

I'm sorry Darryl, but there are more important things in the world right now besides whether or not a 6 foot Rat and a bunch of games survived. Thousands of people are dead. Thousands more missing. People shooting each other. Women getting raped. People without flood insurance who have lost everything. No jobs. No money. No houses. Missing family members. New Orleans might not even be functional as a city for months. The last thing that is on my mind is whether Chuck E. drowned or not.

Well RayRay, there is other things to worry about then just people, Darryl was just asking a simple question about his favorite resturant...I thought what you just said to Darryl was rude and off topic...>: And YES, it is off topic because he asked a question about CEC, not about people dying...Yes he knows about that part... >D
YES, right now at this time, people is the main parody here....:smokin , but there are other things out there that (people that werent involved) have to worry about.....think about it, CECE has to worry about their New Olreans/Mississippi stores out there. There going to have to end of spending hundreds of thousands of dollars fixing there stores....and so will all the other companys out there:\ (i.e. Mcdonalds)
DON'T GET ME WRONG! I feel deeply sorry for the "now" homeless people out there. But there isn't much we can do....besides giving blood or money.:rolleyes (Im even thinking myself, to give blood;) ) Im also upset about the luders out there, yes there starving, but thats just rediculous.>: Especially since they started grabbing guns and straight up firing about people...thats diffently not going to help.:\ I mean, America was a SOMEWHAT peaceful land, until now, since half of New Orleans is going crazy.:rolleyes
Anways, my whole point is that dont be rude to Darryl because he asked a simple question about a place he loves....Im sure he is thinking about the people too.....but he is also thinking about the people that weren't involved (i.e. Companys like CECE)
Anyways, back on topic, even after what I said about CECE paying hundreds of thousands of dollars trying to fix up there Mississippi and New Orleans stores...I truthfully don't know if there are any Mississippi or New Orleans stores out there....:p

"there is other things to worry about then just people"
>:
Not even going to respond to that. Shouldn't have to. That's about as ignorant of a statement as a person could make.
I'm gonna have to go with Ray on this one. Yes, Darryl asked a question about CEC, in the CEC board, however the many losses of people and their homes is way more important than whether CECs got blown down. CEC can get blown down and it wont affect one's every day life. One's home get's blown down and/or they or people they know are killed, that has a big affect on someone.
Sorry Darryl, but he's right :\

WOW, sorry, I didnt mean to go that far...|I :\ :o
All I was trying to point was that, yes peoples lives and houses did get demolished, but so did company buildings. Yes we do worry about the people that live in New Orleans, but we also have to worry about the companys too. Sorry I about the misunderstanding guyz....:\
And there is other things, what about ANIMALS! The sharks and Dolphins that have to live in the Hotel pools, the poor wet dogs and cats out there?!:|

Guys, please... I'm almost positive Darryl didn't mean to offend anyone. I was wondering the same thing as he was.. just a few hours ago, as a matter of fact.
We are aware of the massive devistation of that area, and I think it's disgusting they're not getting the help they deserve. It's just that this is the section for CEC-related topics.

The news coming out of LA is just getting worse and worse. I got so sick when reading about it yesterday that I had to stop reading about it.
But yeah, I don't think Darryl was trying to offend anyone. But also, a bunch of trashed CEC stores is probaby close to the bottom of the priority list right now.
Anyway I wouldn't stress to much about it from a CEC standpoint. Yeah, it's going to be hard for them to incur the losses from these stores (the loss of day to day sales plus the cost of repairing the physical damages). But again, realize that CEC is a multi-million dollar company, and even the loss of a handful of stores shouldn't be enough to cause them to rupture.
But in my opinion if they're under such a tight budget and this does cause the company to hemmorage, then maybe they deserve to. That's a matter of poor money management.
Again though, what really matters is the people who are dying and the mass chaos that's taking place there. :(

CEC Kid Check... what is wrong with you?
Anyway, today's newsletter stated that appx 315 CEC employees were impacted by Katrina, and that the Chuck E. Cares fund will be helping these people. Employees are encouraged to do a one-time contribution and the company will match this dollar for dollar. Perhaps they could make a sizable donation as other large companies (Wal Mart, Lowes) have done.

Well I talked to a tech buddy today and he said that a GM tried to open the Baton Rouge location yesterday or the day before but was stopped by a cop who told him that if he opened people would just loot and steal the money and the food...and he said the Hattiesburg, or Slidell location was like under 3 feet of water. BUT Gene Cramm wanted to try to open one in Mississippi..sigh but wasn't allowed to either. Jeez yeah I think ALOT of people wanna go to CEC right now when they don't even have a house anymore...:rolleyes :rolleyes

Has the Chuck E. Cares prograsm always been in place but only been used in situations like this, or was this started in the waker of Katrina?

CEC Kid Check... what is wrong with you?
What do you mean?! Im still functioning correctly!;) :lol
My whole point was that, off of what Ray said, there IS other things to worry about then people. Sure maybe people are our #1 parody here, but what about the ANIMALS!? And like Vega said above, companys had there share of loss, so we will have to worry about them.
When people donate there money, it goes to PEOPLE, and COMPANYS! to help rebuild! So thats why you have to think about others things besides people....especially when your donating money, u have to think where its going!

Yeah, I know...Think of how many animals were swept away...probably as many animals died as people did...strays AND house pets. :( >:

It's been around for awhile now. Brochures are located on the "Human Resources" board at your store. (Usually in the break area, or outside of the office)

I'm not really sure how anyone could have been offended by Darryl's question. The devistation and the thousands of lost lives and displaced families are on everyone's minds right now. Wondering about other aspects of the disaster doesn't mean you aren't thinking about those ppl or that that somehow takes priority away from those affected. Besides, this is after all a CEC message board. It was a legit question.

I agree 100% with ya Captain! I just got a little carried away when Ray said that there is other things to think about then CEC. I wasn't offended by Darryl's question at all, just the way Ray worded his post, really sounded like a "put down" to Darryl, for thinking about something else than people.

I'm still trying to understand how anyone could have gotten made or offended in any way by it. I actually wondered this myself... besides that is the theme of this board and it's a good way of tying this disaster into the board and making it relevant to this community. There are many aspects of things that are or will be affected by Katrina.

just some info...I work in a NY store, and My DM told me the company has totally lost 5 stores, and a 6th store may need to be torn down and re-built. 8 stores are currently closed. I am a New Unit Trainer, and the Hattisburg location opened about a month ago...yes it's a tragic event, and there is more to life than CEC (GASP..shocking isn't it?) But it still is an affect of the hurricane, so I don't think the topic should be offending to people....if it is, don't read it....so anyway...the company will be taking about a 5-6 million dollar hit this year due to the hurricane. With the newly placed Aloha system in use company-wide, the compay e-mail that is in use in all locations will undoubtably be used to relay as much information as possible about the managers/cast members/district managers employed in the areas.

I was also thinking: with the loss of these CEC's, perhaps some cool stuff would be avaliable, but it probably won't happen.

Since I live in this city - there are 2 CEC locations in New Orleans. One is on the west bank of the Mississippi River - it has the 3 stage MMBB, and the one in Metairie that used to have MMBB but replaced it with Studio C alpha. The manager at the Metairie location told me that the west bank location was planning to get a studio C. This was all pre-Katrina. So the west bank location may be keeping the MMBB, it didn't flood there at the west bank.
But the Metairie store had flooding, I looked in the windows, and it looks like the flooding was not to the stage. The carpets and sheet rock and insulation were pulled out and on the sidewalk. I will go check the stores again and give an update. I can't wait to go back.
I am glad to be home after the long evacuation. The damage everywhere is very sad to see, it is heartbreaking. Many of my friends and family are gone from here. I am thankful to have a roof over my head (even though it has holes in it!) Thanks to everyone for caring....Clarke
