Yes friends...any day now it will be time once again to start up the promotional bandwagon for yet another CheeseVention, the *Officially Un-Official Chuck E. Cheese*s and Showbiz Pizza Place Fan Convention! *
As regular readers here already know, this is a yearly Event many people here in the CEC/SPP Fan Communinty look forward to. It is the chance to converge on a pre-designated location somewhere in the continental United States to meet up, hang out, and have a great time in each others company!
This year will be special in that we are celebrating the 35th Anniversary of the Pizza Time Theatre concept, with this year being the 35th Birthday of Chuck E. Cheese himself! We have the perfect location for such a party....which shall be revealved very soon. Start saving up your money now to attend!
The dates, hotel, main CV Location, and a few key ideas for activites are already decided on and ready to be announced.
I think a lot of folks will be happy with this years location....as it is a excellent place to spend a family vacation pre-CV or post-CV! Like i said, start saving up NOW!
More info to come very soon....

I am just going to publicly say that regardless of where CV9 is, it is very unlikely I can attend this year. I need to really save up and not spend alot and I'm not sure I could really afford the time off. Traditionally, I have only gone every other year for the most part. My doing 3 & 4 back to back makes up for missing both 1 & 2. We'll see what things look like next year if the world doesn't end and I'll try to make it to 10 maybe so I can say I have a 50/50 record.

Well if either I make it or someone else can do it, we ought to webcast the main festivities again like last year, that was rather successful.

Howdy Folks...! Just thought i would come by and answer a few questions, but not the BIG ONE that is all on your minds..not just yet. Time for a little fun first.
CV 9 will ...NOT....be in Chicago...or Texas...or anyplace on the East Coast ( which DOES include Florida, sillies!). So keep those guesses coming. Not that difficult to figure this one out...lots of clues have been dropped already. Anyone who does not know at this point must not be paying attention. I will just have to place you in the corner with a Dunce hat then i guess...you naughty little monkey, you! But seriously folks...have fun trying to guess. It is always one of the fun early aspects of CheeseVention every year.
To answer some questions/inquiries...
I agree with Richard...having last years CV broadcast live online in periodic time periods was absolutely AWESOME from both the Attendees perspective, and of course the Viewers At Home! This year it would be wonderful to repeat this, however, i can reveal that we will not be having CV 9 at a PRIVATE Location. Nope...it will be at a public place(s) as in previous outings...but this of course does not totally rule out the possibility of still doing a live webcast. I am not a expert, but i am guessing someone attending may be able to tap into the web services provided by many hotels via WiFi in the room...or maybe it is even something that could be done through a laptop on site..as in completely portable? If portable is possible...then the Main Location CV 9 will take place will be incredible EYE CANDY for viewers and Attendees alike!!
Regarding Billy Bob*s Wonderland - I have been there and while it would be a swell place to bring a group, there is very little to be offered the average family traveling from abroad in that particular location. As mentioned last year, a LOT of thought goes into the Location for a CV. It has to be a place families might be interested in going together in the first place, have ample mass transportration options to fly/bus/ride people in and get them to the hotel, and of course have a strong connection historically to the CEC/SPP Concept. I can think of a couple of absolutely INCREDIBLE places that i would love to host a CV at ( those who know me know the places ) but the actual logistics of bringing large groups of people into the area and keeping them roomed and entertained is not do-able.
Oh and VEGAS.....ha ha..nice try! Sorry, but not exactly a *family friendly* Location now, is it? Ha ha ha!

Well Folks, ya know it has to be far away from where J and I live to warrant a appeal to contribute to the * Get J and Cheryl to CV9 * fund..ha ha!
Some more info....not sure if i touched on this earlier.....
There is in the works TWO different CV Logos for this year. Last year we offered two different graphics for the CV8 Merchandise ( still on sale...check out the Showbiz.Com Shop!) and these proved to be popular. One design was the Official Logo, and the other was a design made with the special *Western Dolli Dimples* art that was used as a pre-Logo release teaser.
Well this year, there are plans afoot to have two different Official Logos. One of them i can now say is going to be done in a *Retro* style featuring some of your favourite pizza-eating characters. The other Logo is being planned to be themed specific to the State Location we will be hosting this years Event. THIS Logo i am actually really excited about...and i think fans will be excited about it too...but it will be some time before it is finished and approved for release. So watch for the Retro Logo in the coming months....which will more then likely be revealed first!
More info now...
A reminder for those who attended a previous CheeseVention - Actually, CheeseVention 6 in Chicago back in 2009.
The long awaited..and much delayed...Dvd release did happen and it is now currantly availble through the ShowbizPizza.Com Online Shop. Why am i mentioning this? Well, besides bringing it to the attention of folks who may have missed the announcement buried in the old CV 6 Dvd Thread here, i wanted to be sure it was known that it is now out there! Fans who like to purcahse the Dvds of the various CV Events get to *be there* virtually by watching them at home. The Dvds give a nice overveiw of all the main highlights we have experienced over the years. Some are even double-disc sets. I bring these to everyones attention so that newbies can be made aware of them, and longtimers or newer Attendees to past CheeseVentions can be made aware of them.
Besides this, i also wanted to mention them as every sale of a Dvd means a portion of the purchase price gets deposited into the CV Fund. This enables us to be able to cover most of the costs associated with holding a CV for the Fans, including monies spent for supplies, printing costs, snack items, prizes, decor, giveaway goodies, and the like. I can honestly say that without the Dvd sales and very kind direct donations from a few very kind Fans, we would not have been able to have had as many neat things availible for Attendees. So please keep this in mind if you are considering adding some of these fun Dvds to your collection.
Many many thanks to everyones continued support!! CV is great because of the great fans we have contributing to make it...well...great!

CALIFORNIA!
-----------------------
Yessir Folks...we are going back to SAN JOSE, CA where Pizza Time Theatre was born in 1977. 2012 marks the 35th Anniversary of the concept, and i can think of no better place to celebrate the Anniversary then right back where it literally started!
So now ya now....
...and now for the full official details so everyone can start making plans to attend.
This year it takes place earlier then in the past, so it is only a little more then four months away!
------------------
CheeseVention 9 takes place JUNE 8th, 9th, and 10th 2012
--------------------
Mark your calendars Folks!
More important info now :
CheeseVention 9 will be taking place primarily at the famous 3-level San Jose Chuck E. Cheese*s on Tully Road.
This years hotel will be the Best Western directly across the street from this Store, putting it literally within walking distance.
You can see it from the lobby, and probably your hotel room too if you happen to get one on that side of the Hotel.
Here is the Hotel Info for those wanting to book now :
Best Western Plus Lanai Garden Inn & Suites
1575 Tully Road
San Jose, CA 95122
(408) 929-8100
www.bestwestern.com
Some folks who made the trip out to CA for CheeseVention 4 stayed at this same hotel, so if any of you would like to provide insight into your stay and what the rooms were like for you feel free to do so. If by chance this Hotel books up in advance like what happened last year in Texas, we already have two other Hotel choices lined up as backup locations...though these are not as as close to the Store.
Okay...so you have the place, dates, Hotel....what else..?
Hmmm well the Schedule of Events is pretty basic at this early stage, so as time goes along i will provide more insight into this. The traditional layout of the weekend usually has Saturday being the main CV day with the bulk of the major activities planned. Friday night sometimes sees a improptu get together for Dinner at a non-CEC resturant, and Sunday morning usually sees us all gather for the Farewell Breakfast. A few surpirses are always a part of the fun....as you just never know just what to expect at a CheeseVention! A good time however is definately in the works!
Any ideas or suggestions for side trips to nearby places of interests in the San Jose area feel free to suggest them.
We are looking for ideas!

After some deliberation, I have decided to be a CV9 attendee. I sense strongly that the one this year will be chock full of amazing (and interesting) stuff. I have never been to California before so this gives me a splendid chance to travel out to the West Coast. My airline and lodging reservations are already in place. All that remains is making arrangements for ground transportation after my arrival at SJC on Thursday, June 7. It is usually best to accomplish this in advance so that nothing is rushed. Just so everybody knows, I am scheduled to return home around lunchtime on Sunday, June 10. Therefore, I will not be sitting in on the farewell breakfast this time. Nevertheless, I am determined to have a grand time and capture many exciting and wonderful moments!
Ooh, I am SO trying to go! I had SUCH a great time at CV8! :D I loved meeting everyone, and I had the most fun I've had in a long time... :) I hope we can free up our schedule and make it there this year!

CV4 was even earlier (by a month)

Speaking of which I have some bad news. for those of us lucky enough to be at CV4 and see all that neat stuff upstairs. i was told yesterday by the tech at my local store (the franchisee owns both that store and SJ ) that all that cool stuff we saw in '07 has now been moved off-site

Hi Folks....
Just thought i would chime in with a update.
Not a lot to report, as their has been little movement in the development of the Logo. I really need to get on this soon....we are about two months away almost!
Lately my thoughts have been consumed with my trip plans to California. Even at this stage i am not 100% as to what is actually going to happen, but hey, that just makes the trip all that more adventuresome! :)
All is quiet here.....

As far as agenda goes...
Right now it looks to be a simple get together with the bulk of activities taking place at the Store.
So think of it as getting together for Lunch with a lot of serious CEC/SPP fans at a place near where the concept began 35 years ago.
There was talk of trying to get a live webcast up and running at the hotel, from one of our rooms. This would be great as then periodically during the day we can share the Event with fans at home. This is something that other fans suggested and offered to help make happen and i am all for it. Last years fantastic coverage ( courtesy of Rapid T. Rabbit) really brought CV to the masses who were not able to come in person. It would be cool to try to do this again. I am not computer-literate though, so i am not sure if the hotel will have the connection we need to make a webcast possible...or even possibly portable. If someone tech-savvy here would like to chime in, please do...and share your thoughts. I know most major hotels now offer free Wi-Fi, but i am not versed in the world of computers and am not sure if this is suitable for the kind of live webcasting we wish to do. Again, those coming who are up for trying this feel free to chime in.
This is going to be a very laid back Event compared to other years i think, with no rushed *schedule* and no various road trips off-site to other places. The Hotel, and the Store across the street are really our two main areas of activity. There was talk of visiting the Koosher Road CEC ( the *other* San Jose Location ) so this is a possibility for later in the day on Saturday.
Laid back....California style! Yeah! ( flashes the *hang loose* hand gesture)
Most regular Attendees know the drill...
Friday is usually a Pre-CV meet up for Dinner somewhere non-CEC nearby the hotel.
Saturday is the main CheeseVention day, with core activities happening.
Sunday is usually our Post-CV Breakfast meet up at a resturant nearby for breakfast.
:)

Jenn, sometimes certain days or events are better off being laid back, but enjoyable of course, for specific individuals. Therefore, the proposed CV9 agenda you have described is alright with me. I know that as the big weekend gets closer you and the other co-hosts will reveal every important specification. There is no do doubt in the minds of those attending this year, including myself, that something really special is going to transpire for CEC's 35th anniversary. I am really looking forward to this event and am also eager to see the selection of California souvenir items that will be available for sale at the airport before returning home around lunch time on Sunday, June 10.

Some great news today folks!
Some movement at long last on the CheeseVention NINE Logo!
For the past few days i have been drawing up this years very complicated Logo. I am seeing curving lines in my sleep now...but i think the final result will be worth the past 3 days of work. This stuff is all done by hand folks, NO computers or Photoshop or any of that...thus why it takes some time to produce the Logo. This years is probably THE most complicated i have done to date. The finished peice will show a retro simplicity however that will untruthfully show how much work has gone into it behind the scenes.
As noted earlier in this thread, this years Logo will reflect a retro, nostalgic look associated with the original Pizza Time Theatre. We are talking waaaay back..to the very beginnings of the concept...35 years ago to be exact. So die-hard Pizza Timers know what to expect!
I now have all the peices needed to do the final inked line image of the Logo and then i can move onto coloring ( again, all done by hand!).
The complete main image i am holding back as a surprise for when the final Logo is unveiled soon, but for now I thought folks here would enjoy this special sneak peek at a *work in progress*.
So here are a few components that will be incorporated into the Logo.
These are the original pencil line drawings that will be used to complete the finished image.
First, the CV NINE text!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v641/deacy1/Photos%20on%20Forums%20Album/f306aa5a.jpg
And now, a rough look at the characters to be featured on this years Logo
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v641/deacy1/Photos%20on%20Forums%20Album/e75cd522.jpg
These elements will be put together with another large linework design to complete the finished Logo.
The background to be used for the above peices will look fantastic!
