Gabe!!

I think i read on the site that the "cassette packs" contain some sort of digital format, and are not actually "tapes".
Too bad...as there is something cool about what is considered today to be "old technology".
It will be interesting to see if this becomes as hot as it was back in 85'/86'. It was 20 years ago this X-mas season to be exact that Teddy took the world by storm by becoming THE "HOT" X-mas toy of the year. It was insane...like Cabbage Patch Kid insane...but at least this toy was freakin' COOL and a animatronic!!
Now THAT alone is worth standing in line at 3 am for outside of some chain store in the freezing cold ( after walking 5 miles...yadda yadda yadda...lol)

I heard the cartridges are really chip packs like a game console and teddy's data is encripted into the soundtrack in mp3s or something. but rumors are he is digital now.

I can confirm that the "new" Teddy is all digital. This makes him a lot lighter and more cost effective to produce.
I am a "purist' though....and it's "Classic" Ted for me all the way.
Will be cool though if they re-introduce a animated Grubby this time.

I hope the digital tracks are not encrypted or CRCED.
I want to see a teddy sing like Mitzi... or Fatz.
hmm, a plush mini RAE? I can see it now, RAE costume and sound packs for a whole new teddy.

It'd be kinda cool to do him all old school...strap a huge 4 track reel to reel player to his back! :lol

It's such a darn shame the Mini Billy Bob never made it to launch. The major flaw was the fragile nature of the figures, but if the doll was redesigned to be more "kid friendly" ( as in able to talk to tumbles and abuse) i think it would have had a lot of potential.
Maybe if Teddy recaptures today's kids, Aaron can rethink the Mini Billy concept. How freakin' COOL would it be to have some Billy Bob Storytellers that were very similar to Teddy Ruxpin? Large animated figures that told tales and sang RAE songs. Each could come with a illustrated book.
Ah well...we will see how TR does. Right now it looks like the recent rip-off ( forget his name...something "Storybear Ted" or the like) is not making too big a mark with people.
