I am obviously new here.... I do occasionally lurk though. Anyways, I am thinking of applying to be a walkaround character... Just would like some tips and support on applying and hopefully getting the job....

Be gung ho about doing more than just walk around. It's not so much a position as a side duty in most stores. Every GM wants good, smiley, hard working people who can make them look good. If you really want the job, then at your interview say

"I will do whatever it takes to let you sit on your a$$ all day!"

Yeah, I mean I woud be fine with like KidCheck... I really hope they'll let be at the very least try on the costume, so I can get a feel for it before I go out. I am a big bigger though 6'1" ish....

that's about my height, and the first thing my first GM ever told me was "You're a little tall for Chuck E." That was before I ever put the suit on, and it was the last time anything negative was used in conjunction with my being in the suit.

Unofficial professional... that's an interesting label. The only piece of advise I have is, when you're in the suit, no one can see what an idiot you are, so look as stupid as you please.

I guess I was one of the lucky few in my day who was hired and allowed to stay inside of Chuck E. all day. I never even had a uniform...
