I was reading the RIP thread about the curtains that have been discontinued from the stages at CEC and how everyone is upset or confused. It seams to me that in the early days of concept unification, stores that had a 'C' or Rocker stage just installed a $20 pull shade down over Chuck E. I am not sure if corp sent them out but they had Chuck E Live painted on them. Anyone can go to Home Depot and buy a large pull shade and mount to the ceiling (behind the valance) and right before the live show starts have one of the Showroom people pull the shade down infront of Chuck E and then start the live show. Guest, if sitting is a certain area, can still see Chuck E but it gets the point accross...I am sure that each store can afford $20 in their budget...pretty simple and cheap idea.

I have seen this in the Jackson, MS store on some video they sent to every store in 1992 that featured parts of a live show that each store sent in.

you are right about that windowshade Trey. Not all house facade show locations had them though, not sure why. that store in Jackson is owned by CEC's largest Franchsee the Melvins out of AZ. oddly enough after the dismantling of that store's C stage the next stage there Also had a C....STUDIO C

Yes, the old Rocker/C Stages had that pull down "shade" to cover the Bot' CEC during Lives. We never had it in Danvers, so it was a bit weird having the "two Chuck E" syndrome.

I remember a while back i was going through a old parts catalog back when i used to order the show/costume parts at "D". There were several items listed called "Bandstands" and these i found out eventually when i called a order in were those "shades" to cover Chuck for the Lives. There was one for every current show then...it was a mid-90's catalog apparently i was ordering from as the shows were all the classics...."Shuffle", "March", Birthday, "Patriotic"..etc.

Of course i tried to order a few...lol...along with a ton of other stuff but they did'nt have this stuff anymore of course!

So those screens were called "Live Show Bandstands" from what i gathered from the experience. A great idea really...CECE should learn from the past and start doing this again since the curtains are now defunct.

The original prototype for the Munch band had the CEC mech on a revolving platform that swiveled around to put the mech out of site and left a sort of stage for the walk around. It must have been too costly as this prototype was never put into production and did not become a standard feature with the show. This stage was originally installed in the Irving store but later it was changed to be a standard 1 stage MMBB format. The Helen mech's costume was really cool with this set up. It's the one with her in roller blades.

Thats the Irving store's 1-stage. I like the 1-stage better than the 2-stage because the background looks cooler, and the turntable was an awesome addition. I remember seeing Chuck come off of it for a live show back in the 90's. I thought that was so crazy!
