View Full Version : Can showtape sources be listed?

I don't know if this is doable with the MP3 tagging system but could showtape sources be listed after the song titles (maybe even with the year of release) where applicable? There have been times where I've heard a song, but couldn't remember or find the showtape the song segment or skit came from.

Unfortunately no, all the mp3s ARE tagged with the showtapes (listed as album), and it actually sorts them that way in the station control panel, but for whatever reason the SHOUTcast server only displays the title and artist. Must just be something with the way their software works. The only solution would be to re-name all the tracks to also include the album name, some of that would probably make the titles way too long to work anyway. :(

This is one of those things that's kinda irritated me too, because it would be nice (for reference) to know what tape a particular track was from!

Well I'm sure the playlist isn't THAT long... I'll bet we can just list all of the info in a thread like Danny E did with the stage types/locations. I'd be more than glad to assist with that! Although I noticed you sort of gave some of the PTT skits names of your own, which I get, especially when they didn't really have official names and you can't do EVERY PTT track as "Skit 1-10" on a playlist of thousands of the same types of shows...

But that might throw me off a little since I only have those types of tracks listed as "Skit 1-10" up until they had names like "Dreams & Dreams 2". Nontheless let me know and I'll start puting together a list and which showtape each skit's/segment's from.

Gabe's correct, I did arbitrarily give most of the PTT tracks my own names, LOL.

There was sorta two reasons I went this way. One, because PTT had the terrible habit of doing bits and pieces of songs in the same show instead of doing a song in its entirety (like the Rock-afire usually did for example). The second reason was because many skits were repeated, and the same bday shows were included on several different showtapes. So to save space and my sanity I took repeated shows, and shows that were on guest reels yet did not contain the guest - most of these were the repeated ones anyway, and grouped them into generic categories like "classic shows" or "Bdays/Live" etc.

So on the list you'll see that some reels like Foxy and Sally only have a couple of tracks listed (the ones that actually include those guests), but all the tracks are indeed there, just grouped into a generic heading. The same goes for the early RAE stuff since we really don't have 100% lockdown on that, and from what we can tell, most of those tapes recycled skits anyway.

Anyway, here's the "master list" I have for the radio station - anyone who wants to can make their own edits or adjustments to it, etc. It's just what I use for my own reference to keep track of what we have available on the playlist. This will get bigger after I upload the shows Gabe just passed to me (huge thanks for that by the way!)

It's currently 960 tracks, 3.7 GB, and (what I estimate) to be about 72+ hours of audio. :)

Can you stream the tracks with the data signals?

Can you stream the tracks with the data signals?

That would be awesome! Unless you didnt have a show...then it would be exactly the same as it is now. :))

Can you stream the tracks with the data signals?

If someone managed to run a RAE using data and audio tracks streamed from Radio Showbiz I'd be very impressed by that! Is it even possible?

----------

Oh yeah; I almost forgot- streaming the data for the PTT balcony shows would be pretty useful for.. oh say... someone who had a PTT balcony show. :)

Well that sounds like a cool idea but the people with actual bots and bots already data-ready(by which I mean they have a computer ready to decode that data) are sadly still the minority... Don't get me wrong cause I like the idea of just having my Pasqually/Pizzacam hooked up and ready and all of a sudden some random Cyberstar skit streaming on RS brings them to life... but I think it'd be unfair and a pain in the neck to those without characters to have to go and split off their audio so they don't hear the annoying squelch of the data streams... Just my opinion. ;)

Maybe have a special time for that?
