View Full Version : Do shows have to be "warmed up" in the morning prior to opening?

I saw a video of a 1-stage that was running in so far as the monitors, and lights were working, but none of the characters were moving at all.

In the comments section; someone said that it took 20 to 30 minutes for a show to "warm up" in the morning before they'd start moving. I assume this has something to do with the air compressor needing time to build up enough pressure?

Do stores have to start running the show a half hour before opening to make sure the characters are moving by the time it opens?

I had a one stage....if it takes THAT long to "warm up" something is seriously wrong with the show..or the compressor or both...my one stage once in a great while would be a little "arthritic" but never took more than a cylcle or two of the associated movement to work..unless a cylinder was bad...just stating from experience...

Also, on that system if the dvd is started from the absolute beginning (IE they start where it stopped the night before) the characters will not snyc to the show...

the spots are'nt working either in that video so i'd say they have to reset the cyberstar and start the dvd over. also this video is in Chilie.

p.s. i've seen Josh's show before it was always been in good shape!

No. The show needs to "air up". The tank should be at full capacity before they turn it on but once it is, it is ready to go. My 80 gallon compressor takes about 10-15 minutes to fill the tank as a reference point. Whoever said that the show takes a while to warm up before it starts moving has no idea what he/she is talking about. It works or it does not. It's that simple.

I think he meant it needs to take time to air up and everything. He meant that for many older shows, all the movements don't work smoothly until 15-20 minutes go by. I experience this everytime I go to the 3-stage in Springfield, Mass.

Aww thanks! Unfortunately its not my show anymore...I do wonder how it is doing now and really hope the new tech puts as much work in it as I did.

I have inherited a 16 movement studio C that was beat to snot down here in houston TX. Although i am proud to say he is improving a little more each and every day.....still miss my lansing stage..that was my baby and my first show to maintain...

yep...replaced almost everything from the shoulders up....still have torso bushings and clevis block to change...but then hopefully just down to cosmetics....dumped almost 2000.00 into the show over 4 months...still got a ways to go...the good news is it (along with the rest of the store) is moving forward :)
