Okay, here's a question for those who have characters. I had to do some reinforcement around the snaps on Rolfe's mask, and have some concerns about the strength of the repairs. We're going to try putting him back together this weekend when I go to my brother's house (that's where he's staying). I have some commercial quality velcro I can take with me. Does anyone have experience using velcro for mask attachment, and what are the pros and cons?

Thanks.

Certainly no harm in trying it. Long term you'll likely to need to replace it altogether. Costly, but once you do it will last you a pretty long time.

You could trying hot gluing or sewing(with a small needle and very tight knit) a strap of leather to the latex straps and put new snaps on those leather pieces. I've seen that done a few times to CEC latex masks at stores trying to hold onto them WAY too long lol

It's sad, but the repair itself for the eye straps(I thought) was a pretty good idea and if done right, looked sturdy!

Thanks for the suggestions. It's only a couple snaps that are pulling loose, and the rest of the mask is in good shape. I just want a little back up security on those two snaps and I thought putting a little velcro behind it might help.

When his face falls off, then I'll look for a new mask. Or, I could just open up a new FEC. Naww, he'd be in too good of a shape for that.

Dear Surplus Pizza Bots,

Thanks so much for your offer of a brand new Uncle Klunk. While I am aware that the Klunk bot is rare, I find I have a strong allergic reaction to bulbous noses, bad jokes, and banana phones. As for Santa, I am concerned about the amount of windburn he has sustained. For this reason, I will decline your offer and velcro the heck outta my Rofle mask, thank you very much. Besides, Rolfe has earned his spot in my brother's basement by riding home with Fatz and Beach Bear lying on top of him. We are still working through the trauma.

As to maintenance matters, the greasy spot on Earl's head has been cleaned. He now smells like coconut shampoo, much to his embarrassment.

Should I need a Halloween animatronic, I will keep your offer in mind.

Sincerely,

RetroGirl

You know I have found that (Gorilla Super Glue) Holds latex together very good at cuts and splits. The latex is not as flexable in these repair spots but it hold togther really good and it should hold to the snap also. I used it to fix some duke boots , thats how I found out how good it works. Hope this might help you.

So, Gorilla Glue works on wolves, too! Glad to hear Fatz isn't the only one getting the benefit!

Thanks, Mappy

just so you know Its not the regular gorilla glue that you wet the 2 parts and it exspands. This is the Gorilla super glue that is clear not yellow and is made by the same company but is for fast setting and is called Gorilla super glue on the lable.

Okay! Update. After a visit to his chiropractor, Rolfe's cosmetics went on just fine with no problems from the mask. Next step, finish cleaning up the valves and get some air on!
