Ok, I want captslappy's Rolfe and Earl, but I can't afford $3,000. So, its up to you guys to find any creative, crazy way for me to make $3,00 in less than 25 days! :bbwink:

I can do payments if you can come up with the money in a reasonable period of time. Are you old enough to get a summer job at a fast food place or anything?

A lot of fast food places will hire you at that age. You might also be able to work at a grocery store. Depending on where you live, you might only be able to work a certain number of hours. Also, if you don't get the stage props and didn't get the valves, I'd sell it for $2,500. If you want to run it, you'd also need a show computer, show tapes and an air compressor. By the time you get done with the stage and all it gets expensive quick. If you were okay with it just being a display piece in your room and didn't plan to ever run it you'd be fine without the valves. However, getting new ones down the road would probably cost ALOT since Rolfe has 22 movements. The only character that had more than he did was Uncle Klunk who had 30. Who knows, it may still be available by the end of the summer. I'm not hurting to sell it and not really going to take anything less for it. I kind of hate to sell them. I just don't really have a good place to set them up and I've already got everything I need to make a good Billy Bob and Looneybird stage.

(yes its a tragedy) Also, my family aint doin to good with the moolah, so, hopefully $2,500 will hopefully make a difference, I cant get a job till summr, but hopefully i can get one during spring break.

If you're 15 years old and your family is in need of money, spending $2,500+ on a robot (which will probably only be a display peice) is probably not such a good idea... Just my opinion.

Yea, you're probably right, but its also just a minor issue, my mom has a good job and we can afford the essentials + some extras. We're not like, welfare bad. Also, I have the best ways of persuasion lol ;)

Okay; so you spend $2,500+ on a Rolfe. What do you do with it once you get it? Put it in a corner? In a few years; the novelty will have worn off and then you'll be stuck trying to re-sell it to reclaim the space it's taking up.

Plus; that's one less Rolfe out there that could be used as part of a functioning show.

Well, good luck to you on it. If it doesn't work out for you, I'm sure other stuff will pop up. I've seen a lot of Rock-afire items popping up on Ebay lately.

Yeah- there's tons of Rock-Afire and Showbiz items that come up on eBay all the time. My favorite that I bought was a Showbiz Pizza Place ashtray.

Oh, yes, in fact, if i don't get a robot, I'm looking for a Mitzi doll. Or any doll will do.

A much better idea. Mitzi dolls come up pretty frequently and fairly cheap.

That's not entirely true. I've been collecting things for years and I still enjoy every bit of my collection. My mom says the same thing- that I buy things to make myself happy and the novelty will wear off and I'll be stuck with everything. I have a lot of things that I'm more than sure other people would love and could actually USE, like my Warblettes or my Chuck E. Cheese walkaround or my lifesize animatronic Crypt Keeper- all of which are on display in my room and not being used. Same thing would happen if I ever get a Beach Bear. But I like this stuff, I paid a lot of money for it and I'm perfectly content with them on display.

You can do what I did and collect the smaller animatronic props like Choo Choo, Sun, Moon, Antioch...etc..
Sure they don't have many movements, but they are small enough to fit inside a normal household room and very cheap. If you have the right kind of knowledge, you can get away with just buying the props/masks without the mechs and build an inexpensive DIY mech for them. RAE props average anywhere from $25-300, depending on what's included and condition.

Like Paul said, at your age is spending $2500 for a display piece really worth it in the long run? Wouldn't you rather save that money for a college fund, so you with that education you can get a real job to make this kind of money easily and then buy this "junk" without worries? You really have to think ahead and what is best for you and your family, especially in the recession we're in now.

Well sure, now. But priorities and situations can change as we grow older

I entirely agree that buying stuff like this shouldn't be a priority if there's bigger things to worry about. It's just the assumption that people shouldn't be buying rare items if they're only going to be on display that bothered me. :)
