Anyone know a good way to remove tarnish from the (mostly brass) CEC tokens?

Yes.

There are many different ways of cleaning coins..the less abrasive the better for collector purproses.

However, one of the unwritten rules of coin collecting is to NOT clean your coins as it depreciates the value and can possibly harm them.

That being said...it has not phased me and to this day i regularly polish up my sets every other year or so if they need it.

There are chemical cleaners availble at hardware stores and cleaning cloths for shining metal. I myself use a cotton swab type material treated with a metal polishing chemical....works great but a lot of rubbing is involved and it can scratch the shiney surface of the coins. They come out nice and new looking though.....

Once you clean your tokens you will want to encase them in some sort of airtight container. This will prevent them from becoming dull again and needing to be re-cleaned. Some put them in cardboard coind holders and place them in a binder. Some may put them in coin holders with caps. I use plastic ziploc bags.

Hope this helps you out!

Oh...one more thing i should mention.....

Always...ALWAYS test out the cleaning chemical you are going to use on a "bum" token ( a non-important, expendable one!) first before using it on ANY of your collection pieces! This is VERY important...as if you happen to get the incorrect cleaner, it can do serious damage to the metal finish. I've seen coins turn BLACK instantly so heed my warning!! Always test first on a spare token!

Yeah, you can use the "Brasso" stuff they use at CEC to clean all the brass on the door and rails.

Just for information, Dave and Busters tokens are always shiny and new looking. I believe they use an automatic coin cleaner, would anyone have any information on a machine that does this.

I sometimes think this would be a good thing for stores to have.

If you always keep your tokens clean, it cuts down on coin jams and also makes it easier to see and separate out non CEC tokens.

This is a cool topic, because I have many PTT/SPP/CEC tokens that could use a good cleaning, but never knew what and what not is safe.
