Hi folks...
Thought this might make for a fun and interesting thread.....
Step right up and have a seat to enjoy some coffee or other liquid refreshment...it's time to talk about CEC Collectibles!
This is something we ALL have in common here when it comes to this hobby...er, borderline obsession in some cases. No matter how much or little you care for The Cheese, no doubt you or someone you know collects Chuck E. Stuff in some way, shape, or form.
For the "non-fan" i suppose it could be tokens and tickets for future redemption. For serious fans it would be having all the Limited Edition plushs' or one of every year token stored in a binder. The downright freaks would probably have every napkin and plate ever made, store signage, and even Cyberamics laying around! No matter waht your interest, we all love Chuck E. in it's many guises!
So gang...let's all have a good ol' friendly discussion about cool stuff we like to collect.
What are some of your favorite catagories? What do you tend to collect the most of?
I myself tend to lean towards the early stuff ( the older the BETTER!) and i am a sucker for the plushes. Of course the Limited Editions, but also the regular CEC plushes over the years.
I'm also a nut when it comes to saving old ads from the newspapers and some really really random stuff ( won't get into that here...i've typed enough this week already! LOL!).
I would say i go for the plush, Old PTT era items, Show Tapes, and Cyberamics . I also have a huge photo archieve of locations and characters i've photographed since 1981....so i will add "collecting photos" to the list too.
( Sips some coffee...) Mmmmm Starbucks........
So....what do you like to collect?

I'm going to shamelessly revive this old thread!
In regards to the OP...I'm really into old-school CEC stuff as well...I have a particular fascination with stuff created up to the mid nineties because there seemed to be alot of emphasis on the other characters...but some of the stuff being put out today is really neat too.
I'm a sucker for store-related items and decor, and I really like collecting t-shirts.
I've had some decent 'collecting karma' in the past few months actually...I found this really neat PTT shirt at a vintage clothing shop in Sherman Oaks (It's a little too short and was a little more than I usually pay for vintage tees, but there was NO WAY I was going to pass it up!)...I don't have a pic of it on hand, but it's got Chuck in the checkered vest, and it's pretty cool. I also got a bunch of the old fiberglass ski-ball marquees a while back, which is awesome because I've always wanted 'em. Some friends of mine have been picking things up for me too...I've amassed a PTT Jasper pin, some old personal photos, and a bunch of token cups from the 90's. Fun stuff!
So, yes. This is an awesome idea for a thread! I'm big into the collecting aspect of this fandom and it's alot of fun to talk about it with like-minded folks.

I have Mr. Munch living upstairs in my room.
Besides that, I have never had a huge collection, guess I'm just kind of lazy around that stuff. I have the Close Encounter of the Bird Kind poster in my room, some Juggling Jasper signs, the walkaround chest patch for Helen, a few old plushes and pvcs, and a bunch of showtapes.

Holy Crap! I NEVER thought i would see this blast from the past thread! When i originally posted it, it felt flat DEAD as no one seemed to want to post in it!
Well nice to see people are into it ..now! Cool~
Yeah, collecting Chuck E. Stuff is great. It IS getting out of hand here though at my place, so i have to be very selective now of what i add to the pile.
Thing is, the really REALLY cool stuff takes up TOO MUCH DANG SPACE!!! LOL!!!!

Well if we're taking inventory...
I've got a few parody posters (Batmunch, Beaglejuice & Rolling Bone), one of those big Jasper paintings from the early 90's, A bunch of skee-ball plates (a few Chucks and one of each of the rest of the characters), one of those old wooden Helen bathroom signs...a pair of purple Helen walkaround shoes, a PTT Jasper walkaround head, this random plastic hollow Chuck head (I THINK it might have been the mold for one of those maquettes they had on shelves in the showrooms of the 90's) a wooden 'Sweater-Chuck' plaque, a cake stand (haha, thanks Franchize!), an old-school felt Jasper pennant from PTT, and this huge 'mystery' banner that I honestly can't determine the origins of...I need to unroll it sometime and get pictures. Looking back at it, I THINK it might be Studio C related but not totally sure. These are just the 'big' items, I also have a ton of merch items/plush, quite a few showtapes, and a good amount of apparel...one day I want to catalogue my collection, but heaven knows when that'll be...I have some really fun 'oddball' items that I need to snap photos of...like those CEC + Helen socks.

Totally go for it Dude! Definately grab that Munch Building cutout...it is a keeper!
We had one mounted on the wall of our Newington, NH location since the early 90's. Shortly after the 9/11 disaster in 01', he was removed. I guess the Company was getting complaints about this image of Munch appearing to be 'throwing' airplanes into the tall skyscraper. It had way too many simularities to the then recent horrific events taking place in NYC. I have a photo of it i took before it was taken down, and i could see how someone might find it disturbing when taken into that account.
Well it was taken down...stashed out back in this HUGE ( and i MEAN huge) storeroom there at 'Newie'. After i left the Company it was heard that our lovable DM 'J.C.' gave strict instructions to the then GM 'L' that is was to never leave the property..ever! Sheesh....like he thought some crazy Chuck E. freaks were gonna show up and 'take' it away to sell on eBay or somethin'....
.....or even better, nail to the inside wall of their office/living space!
:))
So last i heard...it is still there in NH....hidden in the storeroom.
That place is a treasure trove. I always regretted never being able to get up in their atticspace. I was invivted, but i never made it back to take advantage of that offer. Well, i DID get a crap load of PTT Era Valentines though......
LOL!!!

Well I remember it being there still in like...Februrary 2003. Jenn, I believe once the 'newer' package came in with games like Sketchbook and Kiddie Coaster, that's when it was finally taken down, because it got replaced by that dumb current poster frame that promotes the latest promotions at CEC.
Manchester, NH had it as well at the end of the gameroom next to the tech office if I recall, when I last went in January 2003 though before it remodel a couple years later, it was gone.
When I was in Waterbury, CT back in June of 05', they had it up in the kiddie area next to the showroom windows...I took a picture on my old digital camera that broke, and the old pictures are on my old crashed computer.(which I plan to get fixed before I leave for FL.)

Awesome find man! Nice of him to think of you!
I find some of the BEST collectibles will come your way when you make it clear you love this concept ( PTT/CEC and even SBPP). Once people are 'in the know' you will often find they will pass things on to you they have stored away somewhere.
This happened to me many times, even after i left the Company. I think the coolest thing when i was still in the midst of working for them, the official Corporate Auditor offered to send me his old Billy Bob statue award. We got talking about Showbiz and i think he was impressed i knew so much about it. He knew then i was a serious enthusiest of all things related to the concept, and offered to send this statue if he could find it at his home back in the midwest. He had recieved it for some type of award/reward back when he worked for the Company in the Showbiz area and figured it was just the kind of thing i would like to have.
Sadly he never ended up sending it to me, probably because he could'nt find it ( he said he was not 100% sure where it was..). He was a really nice guy...probably still the Auditor. I have his card somewhere....

I also found all three issues of the 2005 mini CEC magazine, the CEC comic book. Cant find where I put the Galaxy 5000 movie(not that I miss it)
I sadly don't have any plushes. Does anyone know if they made any Munch or CEC plushes that were 4-5"? All the ones Ive seen were really big. I shoulda gotten a Pasqually too.
In the early to mid/late 80's I had a bunch of PTT and RAE era shop stuff.
I'm *so* trying to find any of the parody posters for sale, Munch plushes,
and the Billy Bob and Fatz pvcs. Travis has some cool stuff on his store still, like a Dolli Dimples button pin!

Which ones? The only newer ones they made after Helen and Pasqually in 1994 were the sports ones. I *really* wish they had made a couple other characters, like the King or Dolli Dimples :( I also wish they had made more RAE pvcs besides Fatz and Billybob

Bumping this topic yet again, because I was going through my stuff earlier and I figured this might make for interesting discussion -
What is the rarest/most obscure item in your collection?
The things that pop up on eBay only once in a blue moon (if at all), the things that no one else in the fan community seems to have...the things that are just plain bizarre.
I have some pretty interesting items, but seeing as I've misplaced my digital camera (yet AGAIN), pics will have to wait.
Brag away! ;)

Yeah..and i thank you for that Danny!
My most obscure item? Well, though not really technically a 'merchandise collectible' i would say my top item would be owning the only known B.B. Bubbles in exsistance.
As far as actual 'merchandise' goes...i would say some of my original purchases from the Brandon, FL PTT from back in the day rank pretty high on my 'rare and cool' list. Some of the peices i have never seen elsewhere. Most are late 70's logoed items, along with some nice early 80's peices.
I would also rate my Caberet posters of Foxy Colleen and Artie Antlers pretty notable. I bought these from a FL PTT in 81' after they used them. They took them out of the display 'window boxes' and put them up for sale in 'Jasper's General Store' ( aka merch counter..). I think i paid like $5 each for em'. I originally had a Dolli Dimples Cab Poster, but this sadly did not survive the rough move from FL to MA in 83'.

Very nice! I've always admired those cab posters - How did you come across B.B. anyways? And what stands out to you as some of the weirdest merch items you've got?

B.B. originally belonged to my pal J. He 'adopted' her when our local CEC ( Shiney Happy Danvers) remodeled and removed her Caberet in the mid 80s. He found her stored away, and asked if he could have her. It was the bare cosmetics for her ...the bare cosmetics...her head and hands/arms only. All of the nice jewels, feathers, and clothing had been removed or taken after she was taken down ( very common with older CyberBot cosmetics).
When i first met J in the late 80's, it was not long until he found out i was 'obsessed' with those 'Chuck E. Cheese Robot Characters..' as we called em' then. He was a big fan of PTT too..so we would get on the subject of the cool animated figures. When he told me he had a couple, i freaked! It was my dream as a kid to one day own my own CEC character...and he made that dream come true when i was in my early teens.
He did'nt have the storage space to keep her, and so he very kindly let me have her on 'permanent loan'! I was thrilled of course, and in late 87' i restored her. The only reference i had was the 3 photos i shot of her in action at Danvers. I had to totally recreate her dress, headpeice, spring hair, forehead design ( sequin pattern) and body piece. At the time i also made her some 'eyelids' but i luckily had a real eye set. In 2003 i aquired a real pair of lids from Corp to use, a current pink glitter set which match B.B. PERFECTLY.
Since i finished her at the end of 87', she has been on display in my spare room. When the recent Jul promo shots became avalible a couple of years ago, i was able to finally see for sure what B.B. wore exactly. I was not too far off...considering i was using Polariods shot in the darkness of PTT! Someday i may make a 'historically' correct dress now that i have better photos.
Now 'weird' merch i have...
Let's see....Gosh i have crap NOBODY would save ( unless you were nuts like me). You are talking to someone who from the late 70s saved Happy Meal boxes. I still have most of em'.....yeah i'm a freak.....and STILL grab a new box nowadays if the graphics appeal to me... But i digress....
I would save stuff like napkins, paper cups..Hell, paper plates! If it had a PTT logo on it ...i would want to bring it home. If they ever figured out how make Chuck printed toliet paper back in the day then, i would have probably saved THAT too ( unused..of course...)
Lets see...well i have the 80' Beer Stein. I have a 79' Chuck E. felt cutout figure i bought in Brandon in 81'. I never saw another one until last year or so when someone sold one on ebay. I have the famous 'Chuck E. Cube'...that thing was a HUGE deal back in the 80s. How PTT did one without getting sued is amazing..but it was a different world back then.
More random stuff i saved from my times at PTT - Plastic baby bib with PTT logo and Chuck...tons of old original brocheres, paper goods, calendar, coupons..loads of that stuff. I have some really cool large party cone hats from 1980. I used to prowl the Showroom in Brandon and wait for parties to leave. I would then swoop in and scoop all the hats, plates, napkins , etc, that had the awesome period art on them. Yeah..told you i was a freak! I still have that stuff...the graphic is still one of my faves. They had good artists working for them back in the early 80's. It all went to heck later on, sadly.

Haha, I still have a ton of Happy Meal boxes from the early 90's saved, too - I feel you :)) - Your collection of PTT paper ephemera is awesome! It's great that people out there preserve these things - I was just looking at a ton of old fast food packaging/ads on Flickr the other day...I love that kind of stuff.

It's crazy that all this so called 'crap' and 'useless clutter' is now considered highly prized for it's retro purposes. It is so funny...back then i was the only nut to save such stuff..but when i became older i realized i was not alone. It is hilarious to me that their really were other people that saved toy boxes, plastic wrappers, random paper goods, gum cards...etc. All the stuff that was ment to be thrown away.
The Chuck Stuff is a part of that. I had many more peices that did not survive the move up from FL to MA becuase my Mom did not realize i considered such 'worthless paper' things as important to me and valuable. My Dolli poster and many other things were lost this way. Stuff i have still never seen again anywhere. I DO have a photo of myself at age 11 or so with things behind me...maybe one of these days i can enlarge it or something.
I had original 1980 Birthday plates and a set of rectangular large stickers with unique art on them. They were PTT merch bought in Brandon ( where the bulk of my cooler stuff was purchased). My guess is these were ment to be stuck to your bookcover, or locker maybe. They were large ( 8X5ish) and there was one of Chuck jumping with 'Pizza Time Theatre' lettering under him. The other was of Jasper doing a similar active pose. In all the things that have come up over the years, these items i have never seen elsewhere.
I was so bummed to lose em' when i moved. Oh well....

I come from a family of 'collectors' - so I totally hear you there.
I love old paper. I'm always picking up old cards/wrapping paper from estate sales (latest aqquistion: an intact, wrapped roll of Super Mario Bros wrapping paper from the 80's), and whenever I visit family for Christmas, I'm the one yelling at people to be careful with the paper :))
It really is a shame that such things are considered completely disposable by most - some of this stuff is art, man.
One of the great things about modern technology, though - it's easy to scan/archive this stuff. Sure, it can't really beat having the actual, original article, but it's a huge help when it comes to preservation.
I bought a small lot of CEC stuff on eBay sometime last year, and it came with a few sheets of stickers from the early 90's that featured art of Chuck, Helen, Jasper, Munch and Pasqually that I'd never seen before...I plan on eventually scanning them in, and converting them into vectors, simply because they're so unique...I also plan on doing the same with these big sticker book pages full of 'puffy' PTT stickers I have...I might actually have a few featuring the designs you mentioned, Jenn...not sure. There were a ton of different designs, though...many I had never seen anywhere else.

When it comes to keeping 'worthless' paper items, I still have 6 unused CEC birthday cups from '91, with the characters drawn like toddlers playing around a tree, and also a ShowBiz birthday hat.

Yeah, I like the design a lot. I too, have very 'different' collectibles lurking around, stuff you'd think is cool but actually generates weird faces...such as a ShowBiz sticker that was on a panel in the back compressor room, artifiical turf from the center stage Rock-afire, red PTT carpet with the winking Chuck, Memory Match and Loose Change marquees, 3-stage Chuck ears and Munch jaw (not in best shape, but hey...), and a few signs/posters.

PTT carpet? Nice! Did you just rip it out from a store/score it from a remodel?

Yes, but not from a remodel. :)) Only a little chunk had survived still in place behind the stage.

Let me guess...Chase Ave? Is any of that carpet still in the back? I wanna go behind the scenes of that joint when I visit Wisconsin again next summer!

This reminds me of the large peice of PTT 'Fantasy Forest' game room rug my Regional Tech mailed to me back when i was still working for the Rat. It was surreal !
He was off out in the Midwest somewhere attending a regional Tech meetup or the like...and he was well aware of my obsession with 'CECs Past'. I was at work at my Store in Danvers when this strange package arrived addressed to me . When i opened it i freaked- it was a rolled up peice of original green 82' PTT carpeting that used to cover the floor of the game room back when it was still the 'Fantasy Forest'. It was in like new condition..no sign of wear at all! I was blown away that he not only found this at a current Store, but he went to the trouble to mail it to me too!
When he got back from the meet and visited our Store during his next passing through, i had to ask him about it. He found it still attached to the floor behind the stage at this random location they had been in. When he saw it, he claimed it and knew i had to have it.
I still have it rolled up somewhere...along with several peices and a good room covering sized piece of the original Toddler Chuck E. rug. I ended up with the leftovers from three locations when the Toddler Zones were first installed in 2001 or so. I had three techs save me some good size peices! Brand new..never used . At one point i was going to use the largest peice in my room, but decided it would probably get dirty and i would rather keep it 'mint'. One of these days i may change my mind...as the rug has a awesome design with Toddler Chuck, blocks, and crayons images all over it.
Most Stores now no longer have this rug in the Toddler Zone. Most were pulled out and replaced with the boring 'generic' rug as the Toddler Chuck design showed the dirt too easily. A shame, as i always liked it since it reminded me of the old PTT rugs from back in the day....
