I've seen a couple of videos on youtube and the guest's had pepsi cups instead of the chuck e cheese one's. I really think this is going to be true!

it's not a rumor. Pepsi will be replacing coke. When it will happen is still TBD.

COOL! I myself like Pepsi better! I think i collected over 5000 pepsi points when they had the yellow tops on the bottles in the 90's! plus all the bowling alleys around me have pepsi products so pepsi must be cheaper! (I'm done ranting LOL!) Maybe CEC will bring back pitchers of pop for regular guest's as well?

that's going to be a monumental task. Coca Cola owns all the beverage dispensing systems, no? so they will need to be removed and then pepsi will need to come and install their own.

i hope the change from one to the other happens the same day. I'd hate to walk into a CEC only to have the Beverage bar unavailable

Yes yes yes yes YES!!!!
I HATE Coke...always have. Most youth nowdays seem to prefer Pepsi and Mtn Dew and Dr Pepper over Coke's inferior products.
This is the best news I've heard all week!

Pepsi has an alternative, espescially in an environment like CEC. (Some kids aren't allowed to drink soda)

oh boy do i have some bad news for you guys then! lol. i guess it is possible some stores may have different drinks. (but in my experience all the drinks are always the exact same nationwide). but THERE IS NO DR PEPPER!!! you cannot imagine how pissed off i was! i am planning on calling home office to file a complaint when they open after the holidays. if you like dr pepper then i recommend you complain too before they go and install the new machines everywhere without it.
the situation with dr pepper is pretty complicated tho. dr pepper isnt a pepsi drink. its owned by 7up and distributed by snapple, coke, and pepsi in the US. its possible that areas where the drink is licensed to pepsi may see it in cec stores, while other areas cannot obtain the drink due to whatever exclusive contract cec might have that prevents the other stores from obtaining it through coke or snapple. its also possible no stores will have it since the parent company for distribution is coca cola.
if this would have happened just last year, i really wouldnt have cared. but for some reason in 2010 dr pepper has become one of my favorite soft drinks. unfortunately, pepsico does not have a "pepper" category drink to my knowledge. if im wrong, then please someone correct me so i can have a suggested drink when i call home office.
and as far as pepsi needing to come put in new machines and coke taking the old ones out that they own... i believe that is correct. i have seen the new pepsi fountains in person. they are shorter, more rounded on the ends, and dont have the customized chuck inserts in the marquee. but i guess the inserts could be changed later once they are mass printed or something. the reason i cant say 100% for sure if the old machines will be replaced is because the one I saw was in the newest cec store, so im guess it is the first one to ever have pepsi. or at least it is the first store to have never sold coca cola, and therefore no machine swap was needed. (store #313: 350 N. Nellis Blvd. Suite 100, Las Vegas, NV 89110).
this really sucks. i would rather have coke and pibb than pepsi and no "pepper" drink. maybe we can at least get some pepsi vanilla? i miss when cec had vanilla coke. now THAT is my all time fav soda...
the reason i cant say 100% for sure if the old machines will be replaced is because the one I saw was in the newest cec store, so im guess it is the first one to ever have pepsi. or at least it is the first store to have never sold coca cola, and therefore no machine swap was needed.
correction... theres evidence of cec stores having pepsi for a couple years now. maybe its the first corporate store to have pepsi? either way, the main point was that this store never had coke. so i still cant tell if machine swaps will be needed.

Correct. Big chains switch from one to the other from time to time. It's all about which offers them the best deal to carry their products.
Of course; this probably means we'll get a bunch of parody songs with Pepsi references.

Did some CECPTT franchise locations in the 1980's serve Pepsi instead of Coca-Cola?
I know ShowBiz Pizza Place started with serving Pepsi but switched to Coca-Cola by the end of 1982.

Yes some did Darryl. Some may still to this day. I know Danny has told me that some of the northern California franchise stores served Pepsi.

i agree that its not a BIG deal. i couldnt care less if there is coke or pepsi either. pepsi is fine. and its not something that will make people stop going. but it sucks theres no dr pepper. it's the fifth most selling soft drink and is gaining more momentum than any other soft drink.
and although its not an "end of the world" situation by any stretch of the imagination, corporate doesn't know what customers think about the changes they make unless they hear from us about them. so maybe "complaint" wasn't as good of a word to use as "feedback"
but considering coca-cola and diet coke actually do outsell pepsi and diet pepsi by almost 2-to-1, im sure there will be many disappointed guests. im not trying to be a downer, im just looking at it from a business perspective.

You would have thought since Coke is leaving us and Pepsi going in that because when Coke was in we had PIBB xtra we would have thought we gotton Dr. Peper in exchange. Now that we know what drinks we are getting. One bright side of this is we have MT. DEW. As some people may say "THE MIGHTY DEW GODS HAVE ANSWERED OUR PRAYERS" Since alot of us are Dew fans of course.
Oh darn that means not going to the store next door to buy Dew. Well there went their sales from us. Less for them and more back in our pockets.

I do know one thing is they are trying to get more of the healthier choices for the kids and Pepsi offers more than what Coke does. At least that's what we were told.

that much IS true...more lemonade and non-carbonated drinks are offered by Pepsi. And while MORE people drink Coca Cola,it is because it is served at many more places than Pepsi. Think about it: McDonalds, Burger King, Subway, Hardees/Carl's Jr, Checkers/Rallys, Chick Fil A, not to mention at theme parks across the globe: all Disney parks, Universal parks, Six Flags parks, etc. Coke has been around for a VERY long time and has established itself. Of course it is going to have a strong following. Things are slowly changing though.

That's what Buffalo Rock would like you to think for the last 30 years, too.
Coca-Cola and Pepsi are both great colas to go with pizza. I don't think I would mind that change. It's mostly the alternative soft drinks that sweeten the deal. In my humble opinion, Sierra Mist is better than Sprite, Mug Root Beer is better than Barq's, and while it's not my soda of choice, lots of kids do love Mountain Dew to boot. It'd mostly be the loss of Fanta (if it were offered) that might not be so nice.

Well I personally am going to love the change over! We don't have it yet at "my" store but I saw it at Chucki233's store in Round Rock, Tx and I was really pleased with the choices... I DO already like Pepsi slightly more than Coca Cola. The Tropicana(I think it is...)punch is really good too maybe even better than the HI-C... Just my two cents.

I agree pizzacam. I never liked drinking Tropicana fruit punch anywhere else because it was always watered down so much. CEC has it just right. The lemonade is very tasty also. My only concern is that HI-C was so healthy for you.... after all it WAS 0% juice! :))

Wow, an old thread. Thanks for posting my pics Gabe :-) It is probably costing the company less long-term to sell Pepsi than Coke (price per box). When you multiply even small differences by the number of stores it adds up fast.
They also came by last week and added a second tea dispenser for Sweet Tea. I actually find the Apple flavored drink quite refreshing even though I have no idea what it's called!

Paul trust me you dont want to test the waters there! When I worked at the store we always caught the people who sneaked in outside food and drinks. Thats all I can say.

I'm actually fine with Pepsi's products so I wouldn't really bring anything in anyway; I'm just imagining some squeaky-voiced 16 year old making minimum wage having a fit because someone brought in a can of Coke to have with the pizza they'd just ordered. "Sir; put down the Coke or we're calling the police!".
----------
And yes I know; rules are rules; but if they know someone's buying food and tokens anyway...
chuckecheesefan98
07-17-2011, 10:43 AM
Heh, I bring in a bottle of water every time. Although it's in my old camcorder bag, I have brought it in my hand before and they didn't say anything. Like Paul said, if they ever give me crap about it, I sure as heck won't be spending 25 bucks on pizza and tokens. So it's their loss. I don't doubt that they do that with sodas and food, as I've seen it myself. Come to think of it, a manager at "N" Newington, CT, gave me trouble one time about bringing in 1 bottle of water. I just said I had to drink a special type of distilled water. Lol... He fell for it.
PaulKTF
07-17-2011, 10:50 AM
If they don't let me in (or ask me to leave) because I have a can of Coke (or whatever), they've enforced the rule (and of course they're perfectly within their rights to do so) but they've also lost whatever money I was going to spend on pizza/dessert/games in the process. It's their call; of course... but I'm just sayin'.

My preference for Coke over Pepsi, at least the Diet offering anyway, had to do with the aftertaste that Pepsi had but not Coke.
Fortunately for me, I noticed that with the beverage changeover, CEC now offers sugar-free Minute Maid lemonade too, and sometimes I'll mix a dash of that in my cup with the Diet Pepsi to cover the aftertaste.

Not a big fan of the changeover....but it is probably less expensive overall for all the Store's to carry this 'Coke wanna-be' then the real thing.
With CEC, it is all about the money now. This switch just seems to fall in line with that.
On a lighter note....i DO enjoy the additon of 'MUG' Root Beer! ( Yum..)

The ShowBiz in Billings, MT always had Pepsi. It's probably a franchise. I went in there once in the '90s after it switched over to C.E.C. and they still had Pepsi. I made note of it because the song the C.E.C. band was singing mentioned Coke. I also noticed they left the tile in the soda area (used to be the bar area) that spelled out "ShowBiz" in big letters on the floor.

I bet if CEC TV does a tribute to Michael Jackson show, (if they had the chance) then during intermissions I would love to see it play the Pepsi commercial from 1984 that features him in it.
