New York City already has 5 CEC locations, one in each of the 5 boroughs (i.e. counties) that make up the municipality. Well I just found out that in the near future there will be a 6th location opening up, and the second one in Queens (after Long Island City).
A new big box center is opening up just at the edge of downtown Flushing NY, within sight of CitiField where the New York Mets play baseball, at the corner of Main St. & Roosevelt Avenue, adjacent to the tunnel portal for the subway station on the #7 train. A BJ's Wholesale Club will open first, followed by a Best Buy. The CEC will be part of a restaurant concourse that will include Applebees'.
I found this all out from spotting a billboard on a passing MTA bus that promoted the BJ's with smaller logos beneath for the restaurants that will be sharing the building including CEC. I then walked by that corner and the building appears to be completed though awaiting opening of the big box stores. The restaurant concourse is presently vacant from what I can see from the outside.
It would be nice if this new CEC could be one that I could visit, since Flushing is very close to where I live, but so far all of the other NYC stores require you to have a kid to enter.

Are any CEC's in NY stages. I only know of Poughkeepsie and Hicksville. Patchouge is a Studio C.

Of the stores in New York City, Staten Island is the oldest, having opened in 1992 so it had Munch's band, but likely replaced with C by now. The rest of CEC@NYC came along well into the Studio C era. This does not include the long-forgotten PTT in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn 1984-1987 that had the old balcony show.

Ya know, it seems CECE uses the old "coach" logo on a ton of stuff still.

Years ago, I wished a CEC would open in the Times Square area but wouldn't happen, but in years passed Disney Store and Warner Bros. Studio Store closed down their few years Times Square locations. But Toys R Us Times Square is still thriving. And Broadway City arcade is long gone.

New Disney Store opened in Times Square since November.
Due to the snow, I was unable to check up on the opening of the Flushing CEC today....plus still not certain I'd be even be allowed inside without a kid.

The store is open now, and in fact did open on time a week ago despite the blizzard the night before.

Place is a lot bigger than it looked from the outside.
Show is Studio C Kappa....video (Christmas show) was playing but the bot was not moving at all.
Even though I got inside without a kid and was served...what got me frustrated later on though was the manager came out and told me to get off the Ken-Chuck-E-Derby horse (after getting away with two rides). Even though I told him that I've ridden this horse at other CEC's and seen others do so, he told me that I was too heavy for the ride at this CEC---and that's just totally BS!. I mean why me? I've ridden the Derby at Danvers, Newark DE, Whitehall PA, Eugene OR, Union NJ ....but I can't at the now-nearest CEC to where I live? Why always the bad luck?

So the place opened without the bot being functional? What the hell? Isn't that a pretty important thing to have working by the grand opening?!

The show is a Beta. Cappa's have like three lights.

Now i'm confused- the show pictured is a Cappa, right?

Feel kinda bad about this...I sorta complained about what happened to me in Flushing yesterday on Duncan's Facebook page and this is what he replied...

Hm. Well, Richard, let's be straightm bro: While there are some adults who still enjoy the sights and sounds of Chuck E. Cheese's, let's be clear. It is still a real cool place to be a KID, not an adult. The rides are there for the kiddos, bro, so the managers do have to defer to our main guests. 'Gotta understand and honor that, sir.

That's the point I was about to make- frankly; if you're an adult, you really shouldn't be trying to go on the rides unless you want to cause a stir amongst the parents who will probably alert an employee, which is likely to get you kicked out.
Just enjoy the show, play some of the games, and have some pizza. Don't let a child miss out on the full CEC experience that's really meant for them in the first place.

You know, Ken-Chuck-E-Derby generically is really Jockey Club Jr., which is the kids version of Jockey Club--the game/rides are identical except for the Jr. version is closer to the floor and "fall proof". So it's not like I'm too heavy for it. However in the USA it appears that CEC is the only place that has the ride, with the exception of maybe a couple of other non-CEC places that has the grownup version (one of them is a Las Vegas casino arcade).
I've seen tons of photos and videos online of teens and adults riding the Derby at CEC. And as I've said, I've ridden the horse at other CEC's that are farther away from me (including my old place in Union NJ despite nobody there knowing me anymore). So I really think it's a matter of my particular regional location, people either being overly paranoid or unfriendly where I am. Again just my plain bad luck.

Richard, I think the world just doesn't understand your enthusiasm with Chuck E. Cheese and riding horses. It's not something that a man of your age typically has for a hobby. And thus, if people see you enjoying yourself in this manner at a kid's place void of any family or dare I say supervision, it triggers to them that something is wrong. At the end of the day, you are a very unique individual. I don't thihk it's right to blame people for being cautious of loners in a family environment, and I'll agree that your location plays a part in management's judgement of you. Goodness knows there's more than enough Whack jobs out there in the 5 boroughs, there's no such thing as too paranoid in that market!

Let me just say that if the old franchise management and cast at the former store #3006 treated me like that back in 1992, they would have never earned my loyalty as a regular monthly guest and eventual castmember for 9 years (who crossed the river by NJT bus #114 all the way from Queens NYC). Even Chuck E. there took good care of me as a guest and in turn I was later entrusted with taking care of him in Union NJ, much to the appreciation of all the guests in-store on the days I was on duty.
1992-94
"Hi Richie, I'll tell Chuck E. you're here!"
1996-2003
"Hey Richie, all the guests compliment how so friendly Chuck E. is when you're here all day!"
And you wonder why I cried all day on that sad date in October 2003 when Corporate told me that I was through, on the day they took over #3006 and turned it into #524.
Thank goodness that I still have this fan community to be a welcome part of.

Side note- Union, NJ is store #542...#524 is Middletown, NY. Just for clarification! Sorry!

Things have changed in the past twenty years Richard...heck, they've changed significantly in the past ten! Things are only getting worse when it comes to crime and pedophiles and people who cause trouble. It's nothing against you...it's just the worry-ness of our culture. Nobody trusts anybody nowdays.
I can imagine you losing your job had to have been tough back then. Look at it this way though....you saw that store through until corporate came in. So you obviously did a great job!

Bingo! A grown man at a Chuck E. Cheese hanging out amongst the little kids for long periods of time (or over several days) riding on the rides screams "likely pedophile" to most people and you'll probably be asked to leave if enough parents complain to managment.
That might not be fair; but that's just the way it is. There's no upside to them allowing an adult to hang around at Chuck E. Cheese if you're freaking other people out.
Now; on the other hand, what you could do is tell the managment that you're there just to ride that one ride, and tell them you're spending money on food, etc and even show them your driver's license and they'll probably not have a problem with you being there once they understand you're there for innocent reasons.

While you're on the subject of changing the subject I have to ask, does anyone ever actually win that Ken-Chuck-E Derby game? God damn...
But back to the subject at hand, the others are kind of right unfortunately. Yes, it's very unfair, but it seems that's just the way things work. =[ I suppose going in a group helps deter suspicion if kids are unavailable. And I guess I can consider myself lucky to still have some young'ins to drag with me. I dunno. Things change, I guess.

omg thats exactly what i was thinking! not to mention that by having the tv's hanging on the wall, they completely eliminated the top row of rope lights. and where are the big red tickets, big tokens, or even the artwork? maybe the artwork will come, but i have noticed quite a few recently remodeled stores that never received the big tickets or tokens.
