View Full Version : Weekly game pull a thing of the past?

Apparently the store I'm working at is going to be a test store for a new idea. I've been told that this will allow for a half hour game pull each week, IF THAT. Basically, we'll be getting a token/credit system where the bill changers only dispense tokens for use in games that are dependant on tokens rolling or moving to score in the game. The other games, such as skeeball and the rest of the games that merely use the token to trip the start of the game, will be wired up with a sort of digital touch/swipe interface with little cards for credits instead of tokens. The hoppers will be removed from the registers too I've been told. I'm really excited about this because game pull will do it self each week except for the games that are dependant on tokens. Apparently they are testing this in a number of locations. Does anyone else have anymore information on this?

Yeah, this idea's been floating around and I believe tested at other locations too...not sure if it'll catch on everywhere but 1/2 hour or less game pull sounds a hell of alot better than the current time it takes. :rolleyes

The card swipe system has been as still being tested at the Irving store for the past 6 months now and seems to be poppin off well and now they are going to expand the testing to other markets.

thanks for the info guys. I think it should prove to be one of the few store testings that really pays off.

Pass this one on to corporate.

The Prize tickets should go away as well. Nothing is as rewarding as taking your "customer card" to the prize counter and seeing how many tickets you have accumulated!

It will be run just like a "Kiddy Kasino"!!! Seriously, think of the man hours that could be saved with the removal of the tickets. No jammed dispensers, no customer complaints... plus, remove the munchers and there is more floor space for games or tables.

Lastly, the cost of printing ticket stock, and saving trees with the paper conservation makes this a "no brainer"!

I think that would be a great idea for us here in Michigan! we have dave and busters as well as game works and they use that type of system as well and yes kids get the hang of it.. :D

Did'nt i bring this topic up back in April of so? I remember posting a thread on here about the "game cards" back then ( it's probably still here somewhere) when i came back from Walt Disney World.

I had just visited and all of the hotels on Disney Property had converted over to this new system. It was my first expereince with it, and once i saw how it worked i started to think this would be PERFECT for CEC and solve a whole lot of headaches and problems!

I'm happy to see they are seriously thinking about it....and i agree about the tickets as well. They are truly a waste of sorts as kids tend to chomp them immediately in the Munchers so the "thrill" of saving up a bag full is kind of lost.

I say bring on the changes. It's long overdue! :D

As much as I look forward to not having to do game pull, I wonder about the following:
The really little kids (remember, our target audience is 2- to 10-year-olds) don't understand the concept of credits on a card; they need something tangible like a pocket of tokens or tickets. When they run out of tokens, they're done. As long as they have a card, are they REALLY going to understand the concept not being able to play until Mom or Dad buys them more credits?
Just my two cents' worth.

However, I will be doing a happy dance the minute we get rid of the tickets. They keep sending us different styles of tickets which require me to re-calibrate the munchers.

I don't know if Dave and Busters, Gameworks, and/or Jillians does game pulls even with their swipe power cards for their skill/arcade games.

well Vegas has been doing this for years but I don't think it will work with CEC becuase kids get very excited when the tickets come out of the machine and don't understand credits plus it's exciting for parents to distribute the tokens rather than buy credits just like people in vegas get exited when the quaters drop from the slot machines...everyone looks...I am surprised they don't have token machines that have the same sound effects...the technology is there but don't think it will work with CEC

Not quite sure as to what other markets are testing this system out. But I know the Irving location will be going ticketless sometime next month.
