Other people have posted general art questions on here, so I thought It'd be okay.

I'm a budding graphic artist. (I don't post a lot of stuff on here because I mostly do boring things like logos.)

I realize that I'm maturing as an artist beyond MS Paint 7, but I don't think I'm quite ready for Photoshop. (I'm also on a budget.)

Does anyone have any suggestions? (Freeware would be the best!)

I have two computers, one runs on Windows 7, the other on Windows XP.

I'm open to any recommendations, but whatever it is, it can't break the bank. (Once again- Freeware would rock!)

Thanks guys!

Freeware-wise, I'll just throw out there the magical program called GIMP. It's closest to Photoshop. You CAN get trials of Photoshop from Adobe's website (adobe.com) Honestly, Photoshop isn't tough to learn. If you decide to get GIMP, you'll be confused out of your mind. Just do a Google search and there's sites that list others like GIMP.

If you want to try Photoshop for beginners, I suggest Photoshop Elements. It's pretty much got all the tools the regular version has. If you get a Bamboo Fun tablet from WACOM it comes with that AND Corel Painter, all for $199. MUCH cheaper than the programs by themselves. Plus, tablets are fun.

I hope I've helped ya out!

To add onto the GIMP comment. You can look for GIMP Shop as well. It's a modification to GIMP that makes it look and act more like Photoshop (But it's still free!)
