Welcome everyone to our annual thread dedicated to our yearly Fan Event, CheeseVention! THIS YEAR J, Cheryl, myself, and our Location Co-Host Richard pleased to present -

" CheeseVention SeVen"

The Ofificallly Un-Official Chuck E. Cheese's and Showbiz Pizza Place Fan Convention

June 18th - 19th - 20th 2010

NEW YORK CITY

This year we are not only celebrating our 7th gathering, BUT we are ALSO celebrating the 30th ANNIVERSARY of The Rock-aFire Explosion! Our theme is "THINK BIG, BE BIG" and boy oh boy do we have some BIG PLANS in mind for the Big Apple!

So let me now reveal all the info one could want or need related to this years' chosen Location.

First off, i would like to send a shout out to our Location Co-Host Richard ( better known on this Forum as 'Rapid T. Rabbit). Richard has been instrumental in helping J and myself get the insights and info we needed in these crucial planning stages to validate all the things needed to pull off a successful CV. He has amassed years of valuable knowledge from his experience living in the NYC area, and there is no better connection or guide to have to this area of the country. So a big thanks for helping make Cv SeVen a reality, Richard!

Okay....so let's get started!

The 'Official Hotel of CV SeVen' will be
The Hampton Inn , in Secaucus, NJ

Link - http://hamptoninn.hilton.com/en/hp/hotels/index.jhtml;jsessionid=IBOGIAYGSZENKCSGBIV222Q?mor eDesc=true&ctyhocn=SCMNJHX

This Hotel is 20 mins from downtown NYC. It was decided to stay outside of the immediate city to avoid the high room rates or outrageous local 'room stay' taxes ..not to mention expensive parking fees on top of all of that! The Hotel chosen has none of those issues.

The Hampton has free parking, a free breakfast buffet ( with more then just bread and coffee!)...and more. It is also located in a pleasent area, next to a shopping plaza with nice resturants, shops, and a movie threatre.
Read the above link for all the good info. Those fans who may have attended last year's CV in Chicago will remember the Hamton Inn, and the nice little breakfast buffet.

Prices per night - $129 ( not including taxes). I priced my room for two nights, with the $38 in taxes included, and it was roughly $269-ish for the two weekend nights.

- * - RIGHT NOW the Hotel is running a JANUARY SALE and one can book a room for $103 ( not including taxes). If you know you are definately coming, you can book IMMEDIATELY and SAVE!
PLEASE NOTE however -
The discounted room rate is NON REFUNDABLE in any way, and must be paid in FULL at time of booking, and NO changes can be made once booked! The regular $129 rate CAN be changed/cancelled/refunded however, so the choice is up to
you.

THIS OFFER ENDS JANUARY 31st. I know..not much time, but the Hampton Inn often runs special offers throughout the year.

Again, use the link above to price out your room.

The regular $129.00 rate is a really good deal considering the location, and the enemities. Either way, all things considered, i think Attendees are getting a nice price.

The Schedule of Activities is coming along nicely, and we have a rough idea of what we may do during CV SeVen. As always, ideas and suggestions are ALWAYS WELCOME!

For the moment, here is a brief overview of what is planned for the weekend. Please keep in mind that this is a early draft and it is possible things will change. For now however, this looks to be a solid framework. Again, your imput is considered and appreciated.

----------------------

Friday, June 18th -

Attendees arrive and check into the Hotel, relax, and enjoy their own planned activities that evening. There are no scheduled CV related group activities slated until the next day, so Attendees can enjoy their first night in NYC on their own.

J, Cheryl, and myself plan on seeing 'WICKED' on Friday Night. If anyone would like to join us, you are of course welcome, but please be aware that this is not a group event and you will have to secure tickets and transport on your own.

Here is the official website for 'WICKED' on Broadway - " The Untold Story of the Witches of Oz"

http://www.wickedthemusical.com/

Saturday, June 19th -

This is the main CV SeVen day. We will all meet up at the Hotel at some point in the morning ( 9 or 9:30 target area) in a designated Meeting Room. This may be a actual Meeting Room we will book at the Hotel ( similar to last year), or, i will book a larger hotel room and we will use this. We have some neat plans and already have a SPECIAL GUEST slated in to appear, plus a videotaping session for local NYC television planned...so we are looking into getting a actual Meeting space. More info when i have had a chance to talk to the Hotel about a space.

After the official 'Welcome' and entertainment segments, the group we depart the Hotel and head over to a local CEC for Lunch. The Location has not been finalised this early in the game, but there has been talk of hitting Union, NJ's location or another one close by.

After Lunch, the plan is to take a road trip up to 'AdventureLand Theme Park' in Long Island, NY. The driving time will be roughly and hour, possibly more depending on traffic conditions. This park has a Classic Rock-aFire Explosion show operating for the public to view...and last i heard was in great condition. This place is your basic amusement park, with rides and games and other delights. Check out their official website below -

Website for 'AdventureLand'

http://www.adventureland.us/themepark/

There is also talk of stopping by 'Funzone' which is a amusement center/arcade 10 mins down the road from 'AdventureLand'. No animatronics, but still something to consider.

'Funzone' website

http://www.funzoneamusements.com/

After visiting these locations, the plan is to drive back to either the Hotel or head directly to our next planned stop - 'Mars 2112'

'Mars 2112' is a very cool OUTER SPACE themed resturant right in the heart of Times Square. J has personally been there and vouches it is very neat and definately worth checking out! This is where we plan to have Dinner for the evening.

Here is their website ...check it out!

http://www.mars2112.com/

After Dinner, folks are welcome to tour the 'City That Never Sleeps' and view the amazing, famous lights of Broadway and Times Square.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v641/deacy1/Photos%20on%20Forums%20Album/NewYorkCity-TimesSqatNightSM.jpg

Sunday, June 20th -

Traditionally, this is when the Attendees meet up for Breakfast at a nearby resturant and then part company. Some folks head home, some stay on to partake in their own activities.

Richard, J, Cheryl, and myself plan on visiting Central Park before we leave for home.

Here is a list from Richard of some suggestions for those looking for fun things to do while in New York -

----------------------------

Broadway or Off Broadway Shows - Disney's standout shows 'Mary Poppins' or 'The Lion King', plus 'Wicked' and numerous other offerings. Also 'Avenue Q' (cute, funny, and with puppets but VERY adult content in many respects. NOT for kids!)

Circle Line cruise around Manhattan..full trip 3 hrs or half trip 90 min.

Roof views...Empire State or GE Building (Rockefeller Center) . Prepare for a long wait time.

Staten Island Ferry...free view of NY Harbor & Statue of Liberty (w/o going to statue which would take all day)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v641/deacy1/Photos%20on%20Forums%20Album/NewYorkciry-StaueofLibertyharbor.jpg

Strolling through Central Park. Lots to see here..apart from the lovely greenery and ponds. Place of interest include he famous Central Park Zoo, antique operational Carousel, horse carridges, Strawberry Fields, and MORE. Depending on what side of the Park you are on, 5th Ave ( with all the world famous shopping destinations) and the Dakota apartment building ( home of John Lennon in his later years) are nearby.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v641/deacy1/Photos%20on%20Forums%20Album/JohnandYokoattheDakota.jpg

Coney Island - the famous seaside amusement resort of bygone times. The place today is in transition though....so do not expect a lot of choices in entertainment options here.

-----------------------

I will add to this Rockefeller Center, Radio City Music Hall, and all the world renowned museums. Definately something to offer everyone no matter what your interests are. One could spend a week here!

Mmmm New York. My home!

...too bad I live in California now! Aaaaughhh.

I'd really like to make it this time, and I can't resist a reason to get my butt to NY (and eat at Roll n' Roaster, mmmmmm), but college is most likely going to interfere. We'll see.

The photograph of Times Square that Jenn posted above is a little out of date. The Virgin Megastore closed last Summer but that will become the location of the new Disney Store opening late this Fall.

Speaking of stores, would we be visiting the flagship Build-A-Bear store with Jenn over on 5th Avenue?

Hoo boy. I'm gonna download the logo and start making some cool logo animations with it. Also, I plan on bringing my new filming equipment, taping stuff for both my YouTube channel and the DVD (And the footage will be in HD). Plus, as said in the last topic, The Mini Billy Show will be coming to CV7, and will in fact debut at CV7, along with the arrival of the "Special Item".

By the way, I'll also be making a neat CV7 Video Package before June to get you guys pumped up. :p

And Jenn, can you send me a large version of the full logo? Thanks!

Now people, we begin the countdown to CheeseVention 7.

Check em' out...

ONE of these is a really neat fan made promo. J discovered this the other night when we posted our 'teaser' with Looney Bird. I saw it with him and we were surprised and delighted. Way cool!

Who here made this? It's great! Many thanks for putting this together!!

Richard, i have no real interest in visiting the flagship 'Build-a-Bear Workshop' location on 5th Ave. It's not a must do by any means...at least not with me. I visited in 2005, and i'm good.

There IS one at funzone, but it's in really awful condition. Like, almost no movement, not even mouth movement. It used to be good but not anymore.

We are actually talking about the RAE at Funzone, Jenn had been confusing the two locations though we are planning to go to both since ALand is a big amusement park nearby and FZ is just an FEC.

Are you thinking of Fun Station USA who has the old Rock-afire mechs randomly scattered about on display? Or is there another Rock-afire location that I'm not thinking of? Anyway getting back to Fun Station, I was thinking you guys may wanna try fitting that into the schedule of events. It may not be a working Rock-afire but nonetheless it is still a piece of Rock-afire history, even if it is hard to see Fatz and Billy Bobs mask melting away! :bbsad:

Eh not really.

The whole Funstation and Funzone thing was a huge batch of confusion for a while.

Funzone is the place in Long Island that still has a show set-up, but was in very egregious condition when I was there last, while Fun Station is the place in Staten Island that has only Billy, Fatz, Dook, and Beach scattered across the place.

Hope to clear up any confusion!

This the outside of the Funstation in Staten Island NY. I've never been there personally, just happen to know where it is.

It might be possible to visit both places during our CV7 roadtrip...they're both in the same direction heading East from NJ, only the timing would have to be figured out.

AuraWolf

Fun Zone has been in that condition for 10 years? I believe the last time I visited there was either 1998 or 1999 and I recall the condition being pretty good back then . Not perfect but most of the movements were there.(This was before I went to visit again 2 years ago and saw the horrid condition.)

I've never been to Fun Station, though I've been to adventureland when I was really small.

I know there's a chuck e cheese (At least 1) on Long Island, but I haven't been there recently so I have no idea what it' like or if it's still there. I also believe there was a Nathans nearby that with a robotic band, but I don't even remember what it looked like or if it's even there anymore.

There are at least 5 CEC's on Long Island...Hempstead, Hicksville, Commack, Patchogue, and West Islip.

If you're referring to the Nathan's on Hempstead Turnpike in Levittown...that was originally a PTT from 1985 to 1987 and the only one in the NYC area that had a rocker stage. It became a Nathan's after that which closed a few years ago. The building has since been torn down.

I don't think it was that Nathans. I think it was in Westburry. I know for a fact it had some sort of showroom with a robotic band, and an obsticle course/ball pit thingy that went around the edges of the room and you could watch the show from there. But I do not have any memory of what the show looked like.

Thanks for the info about the CEC's by the way. I've only ever been to the one in Commack. I plan to visit there sometime to see what it's like now since I've not been there since I was really small.

Here is the story as of last night...

The Hampton Inn is indeed practically full for the weekend of CV7, with two large groups having made prior reservations.

Danny was locked out because he tried to book for Thursday through Monday.
However, I called the hotel directly and was told that 4 single rooms were still available for Friday through Saturday. So what I did was book one of those rooms for myself for Friday night only since I live in the region. According to an email I received from J several hours ago, he and Jenn have not booked their hotel rooms yet and I replied to J saying that he should do so now...but Jen is in FL until this weekend so don't know if she will get that word before those rooms are taken.

I booked my room at the full rate of $129/night. Although I missed the Jan. sale at the $100 price, I was told by the booking agent that they are now on a Feb. sale of $109/night--same restrictions, immediate non-refundable charge and no changes. So it might be possible for me to extend the stay in my room (possibly for someone else if needed).

I also have to make a separate call to see if a meeting room at the Hampton would still be available for Saturday if two other groups will be meeting there that weekend.

Have to find out if the NJ Transit #320 bus also stops near the Courtyard...I'm only sure it stops at the Hampton in Harmon Meadows.

OK, there are still a few rooms left at the Hilton, but they are on the 7th floor and are smoking rooms(I believe, you can ask for a room spray to keep your room smelling fresh if you dont like the smell) I would suggest that you book now, as they are close to selling out, but there are rooms still left. I booked 3 rooms this morning(2/3/10) 1 for Cheryl and I , one for Jenn and one for Travis and Teresa. If you are planning on coming, once again....BOOK NOW!

Just so everybody knows, my reservations for CV7 have been completed. All that remains for me are the transportation arrangements that come once I have arrived at La Guardia Airport early Friday evening. Also, before checking in to the airport's hotel my final night, I would like to visit Central Park with the members who are hosting.

Okay if you are landing at LGA on Friday, from there you can take the NY Airport Service bus to the Port Authority Bus Terminal, then inside the terminal connect with the NJ Transit #320 bus to Harmon Meadow (check with the driver to make sure he stops there). The NYAS bus you pay the dispatcher at the airport, for the NJT bus you buy a ticket inside the terminal from the counter or vending machine.

Right now I am out of work and have been for several months. I am taking a test in preparation for an interview doing the US census. I am hoping to get the job and work 40 hours a week which is the max you can do this. Right now, I have no idea if I'll get the job and if I'd even be able to take the time to come to CV. I'd like to, but even if the time isn't an issue I am really trying to save up money this year so I don't know that a vacation is really in the works. We'll just have to see as we get closer. I see the hotel is booking up fast and I'm not going to know until we get much closer to the date. As of right now, I am thinking CV7 is unlikely for me.

Sorry to hear that your presence at CV7 seems unlikely. But good luck getting that census job.

Coincidentally, the other day I taped an episode of my TV show and my guest was a representative of the US Census 2010.

No, he was only a guest on Rapid's TV show. His name was Jon Gromer and he was a Partnership Specialist for US Census, essentially a PR person whose job it is to encourage the communities in his region to particpate, i.e. get counted.

HI Folks

Just now hearing about the hotel situation after being away on vacation for a week.

Heck of a homecoming, i tell ya....

:|

Well things will work out - The Hampton Inn is in a area that has many hotel options, so even if you end up having to stay at another hotel you will only be a short distance down the road.

I chose the Hampton because of the price and fore-knowledge of the quality/cleanliness level. Also for other enemities such as free parking, breakfast selection, and the sort. Regardless of wherever everyone ends up, i would say at this point most of the 'meet ups' to start the day will be based at the Hampton. If you cannot get a room right away, and want one at this hotel, keep checking back as sometimes people often cancel a reservation as the months go along.

We do not all have to stay at the same hotel, but it does make it easier when the time comes to gather before heading out for a adventure.

Coney Island might be fun, but it is not on the schedual at this point. If any folks would like to come early in the week or stay late into next week, it is a great place to visit!
I am right now in Chicago at the balloon convention we put on every year. Menutia and I spent two great nights together before the event started. We tried to hook up with Andrew, but it didnt work out. Will keep everyone posted on upcoming events with CV7!

On an update concerning Fun Zone: http://www.showbizpizzaforum.com/showthread.php?p=50195#post50195

They ARE indeed repairing the show during the next few weeks. I'm POSITIVE this means that Fun Zone is our LI stop, with Adventureland being a possibility. On Sunday, how does an afternoon/evening trip to Coney sound for some of you people? I know that J, Cheryl, Jenn, and Richard are going to Central Park after breakfast, so I'm keeping that in mind.

HI Gang...

Apologies for the lack of posts from me on the Forum over the past month or so. Since this website and connected Forum changed over to a new server earlier this year ii have been having some issues when it comes to trying to post. I would try to type out something in the reply box,, and i could not see ANY of the text! Thus why the few posts i DID make were very short and brief. Thankfully, Mr. Menutia came to the rescue and advised i visit here using another web browser instead of my usual one....and 'poof' the problem went away! It is just going to make posting here a little more of a effort on my end, due to this....so hang in there if it seems i go astray.

Of course this all timed perfectly with the fabulous 'KlunkFest' April Fools' joke the guys made up this year......

Just wanted to stop in and remind newer fans who are making plans to attend CheeseVention SeVen that although it is a FREE Event , it is not 'free' in the sense that the organizers are paying for your hotel room/meals/ admssions...etc. This was brought to my attention the other day and i wanted to clarify for the newbies. ALL Attendees are responsible for booking their own hotel room stays, paying out of pocket for their own meals, and insuring they have a little spending money forpossible transportation costs and bills for the arcades we plan to visit. It would be cool if J and Myself COULD cover all the costs....but alas, neither of us have that kind of cash availible! Thus why we often fund-raise with Cv Dvd sales and Cv Merchandise to help cover some of the production costs.

Hopefully all that have wanted to book a room have been able to at the added hotel . Another item i wanted to be sure to bring to any newcomers' just learning of this Fan Event is the original hotel chosen for CV SeVen ( Hampton Inn) is now booked solid and SOLD OUT. Another hotel nearby ( Meadowlands Marriott) was chosen, so be sure you are booking THERE for your room.

You can book directly off the Mariiott website here at this link-

http://www.marriott.com/search/findHotels.mi

The Hampton Inn will be the meeting point for starting off the Event, and will be our 'home base'. The Mariott is very close by..so those staying there will not have to worry about trying to find the place.

This is perfectly fine, as Saturday will be the Main Event Day ( full day and night activities). Sunday is really more of just a meetup for Breakfast, and then folks are free to go off and so their own thing or journey back home.

We have a Special Surprise Guest lined up....as well as a appearence by a character i think most fans will know. Actually, we hope to have a few 'characters' present.....but at this early stage it is not 100% certain WHO will actually be coming!

A updated version of the CheeseVention Logo will be forthcoming at some point in the next few weeks. The Official Merch should be rolling out soon....and this weekend J and Myself will be plotting out and trying to finalize the schedule of activities.

It looks like we will have to choose between ONE place to visit on Saturday afternoon instead of TWO, as it will probably be very unlikely we can hit multiple places in the short time window we have. CV is really on only one day ( Saturday) and with the famous NY/Jersey traffic i think we need to keep things tight. Thoughts?

We discussed visiting BOTH Fan ZOne and AdventureLand ( i beleive it was..)...but after all this talk now of their RAE not even in good shape, or having to book a party to get them to even run the show...i think we all need to decide which of these two place we want to visit. I don't think we can do both.

Your preferences?

Lively Star King
05-06-2010, 03:36 AM
Either one of the two places is fine by me. :) If I had to choose though it would be Fun Zone because the facility will probably have the one show that is in better condition. If both are possible then great. Every place we go to for CV7 should be thrilling for us. Once again, Jenn, I have decided to visit Central Park with you and the other hosts before I go back home.

Rockafirecheese
05-06-2010, 01:39 PM
Jenn,

I think going to both Funzone and Adventureland would depend on how long we stay at either place. Depending on traffic we might be able to squeeze both in. Both places sound fun. I guess if I had to choose I would choose Funzone, providing the show is actually working again. I don't really care what condition their in. As for this whole thing about them not turning it on unless there's a birthday, maybe we could just buy a cake from them and call it a walk in birthday party, then maybe they would turn it on..... (just a thought.)

Also just throwing this out there. I'm wondering if a stop to Funstation would be any kind of an option/alternative. If not I'll probably have to do it on Friday or Sunday.

Also since nick reminded me, Traci and I will also join you and the others to Central Park before heading to the airport.

Let me get this out there, AdventureLand does NOT have a Rock-afire. Only Fun Zone has a Rock-afire. By the time CV7 comes around, the show should be finished with repairs. Trying to make this clear for everyone. :) Also, I already thought Saturday's schedule was gonna be:

Morning: Meetup/Event at Meeting Room/Other Space
Afternoon: Road Trip to Fun Zone
Night: Dinner at Mars 2112 in Manhattan

And plus, about the whole birthday thing, since this is right near the beginning of summer vacation for many, FunZone will be PACKED, and that means there will be birthdays during that time.

AuraWolf
05-06-2010, 10:56 PM
Yeah, Adventureland doesn't have a CEC. And Funzone seems to have a lot of birthday parties so it's likely that if the show is running again we'll be able to see it.

But what if Funzone is still broken? Do you guys want me to go over there a few days before CV and check on how things are doing? I think it'll be a good idea to help you guys decide if we go or not.

HI Gang..

Regarding the schedule, what RAE Guy posted above is pretty much the basic plan for Saturday, yes, but there are DOZENS of other details that need to be worked out well in advance! Most of which none of the attendees will have any awareness about, but are absoluitely crucial to insure CV runs SMOOTHLY.

Stuff like WHEN to begin certain activities and when/where to meet up finalizations...time schedules to insure we have time to drive from Point A to Poiint B, a order of events to take place in the main meeting room ( my room)...and much more. There was talk of a video shoot for a forthcoming episode of 'Rapid T. Rabbit and Friends' Saturday ( early afternoon) and that needs to be slotted in...plus slating in the suprises we have lined up...and Guest Appearences...etc. So it is a important for the Organizers plan this all out in advance so everyone will know exactly when and where they should be to enjoy all CV SeVen will have to offer. Most attendees had no clue how much work went on 'behind the scenes' to make last years CV happen. Many hours of planning..over many months...were required to make it all come together. The same goes for this year, though on a slightly smaller scale.

This weekend J , Cheryl, and myself will churn over all of this. We have little more then a month and a half at this point, and it is tiime to start finalizing things.

On another related note, the ALL NEW CV SeVen Logo is done...and looks pretty nice! A more simplified version was required so that the image would translate much better onto the forthcoming CV Merch and other media.

Watch for it SOON!

Ok gang, here is the current plan for CV7. Friday and Sunday are "on your own days" with a trip to central park planned for sunday. Saturday however is now almost planned.... We will meet up early Saturday morning in a special CEC theme room, for our official welcome and to meet our special guests. We will then head off to Mars 2112 for lunch at noon, you will be responsible for your own meal price, off the regular menu. We may be taking public transportation into the city, we'll see as we get closer. We will leave there and head to Funzone for "Billy's" 30th birthday. Price there is $25 per person, for the party, tax, and tip, payable to me(I'll use my card to pay for the party). We will then head off to Adventure land for the end of the evening. The price there is $21.99 per person for pay one price, or you can buy tickets at $1 per ticket, rides go for 3-5 tickets per ride. There is no admission to get in the park.

******** Please RSVP for Mars 2112 andd Funzone by May 30*********

If i dont hear from you by May 30, you wont be able to be seated with the group! jtheclown@verizon.net (jtheclown@verizon.net)

If it rains, we have a plan B involving a local CEC restrauant for the evening.

Cant wait to see everyone there!!

Yeah Folks....exciting times are near. J, Cheryl, and myself were together last night and spent many hours brainstorming various senerios and ideas for CV SeVen. There really is a LOT to figure out and consider when trying to plan and put together one of these things....

It looks like the Saturday 'Schedule of Events' is much more firm now after our session. We switched some things around to insure we had a much looser time schedule to enable us to partake in the planned activities at a more relaxed pace. This was of concern, particularly THIS year due to the location, traffic conditions, and the travel distances between said locations of interest. So i personally am feeling that ol' buzz of Pre-CV excitement again. Woo!

So here is a rough outline of what we have lined up to date- Times have not been finalized yet.

--------------------------------

Friday - Arrival/Check into your Hotel.

Saturday - Meet at main CV SeVen Hotel ( Hampton Inn) in ' The Lounge' ( my hotel room).

Room will be transformed into a CEC/ Showbiz themed paradise complete with a special NEW entertainment surprise! J, Cheryl, and Jenn along with our Location Co-Host Richard will officially kickoff CV SeVen with a welcome, then fans can enjoy the various collectibles and displays we will have set up. We will have some friendly characters appear for photo opportunities, as well as our Special Guest. A short ( and very fun ) entertainment segment will follow. No, not just another 'Live Show'....this will be quite unique and completely exclusive to Cv SeVen! Woo Hoo!!

We all will depart 'The Lounge' ( my hotel room..) at some point in the early afternoon to begin the trek into the City for Lunch at 'MARS 2112' in Times Square. 'MARS 2112' is the awesome space-themed resturant complete with alien character visitations and stunning themed enviroments. We are thinking of taking public transportation into NYC from the Hotel, as it will be much faster ( 20 min ride thru the Lincoln Tunnelin the bus lane) and it will spare us the trouble and expense of finding parking in the city on a Saturday. The main bus depo where we will end up will drop us off a short walk away from Times Square and 'MARS' . Richard can probably comment on the distances better them myself, my comments are approcximate. More on this to come..

After a couple of hours at 'MARS', we will then head back to the hotel ( if we do end up taking the bus in..) and then depart from there to 'FUN ZONE'. Approximate travel time to FUN ZONE is 1 1/2 Hours ( 2 possible depending on traffic). BRING YOUR RAE CDS to listen to...it will be a ride!

Arrive at 'FUN ZONE' - a Family style arcade/entertainment complex with a Classic Rock-aFire Show around 3/4 pm approximate. We will be booking a Birthday Party pacakge well ahead of our arrival for our group to insure not only a nicer experience, but also our chance to view the Show ( which word says only runs for parties..). It will be booked for 'Billy' who is 'celebrating' his 30th Birthday. Smart fans will notice this is a sly bit of humour...as in reality we are celebrating Billy Bobs' 30th! All details regarding the Party at FUN ZONE will be forthcoming.

After FUN ZONE, we will depart for ADVENTURELAND Park - A old-school family amusement park a mere mile or two down the road from FUN ZONE Arcade. As J mentioned above, this park is free to enter, but if you wish to ride rides you must purchase ride tickets ( $1 each) or spurlge for the $22 'ride it all' Bracelet. The Park stays open until 11pm during our time there, so we have plenty of time to enjoy what they have to offer. We can stay as long as we feel like...and then head back to the hotel when we have had our fill. Keep in mind the return dirve will be 1 1/2 hours ( or more depending on traffic conditions) so take this into consideration when thinking about how long you wish to stay at AdventureLand.

Sunday we will plan to meet up at a local breakfast place and have a last meal together before all departing to go our seperate ways. Some members of the group plan on visiting Central Park in NYC ...but there are no officially planned events post-breakfast.

-----------------------------

Remember Folks, this is a rough outline but is looking pretty firm at this point. All TIMES will be firmed up soon..so the times i list are approximate only just to give ya'all a sense of what we have in mind. Those who are coming to CV with their own vehicles/transportation can of course choose what and what not to partake in, but we find it is much more fun to have EVERYONE together to experience all the activties!

Just out of curiousity, will there be a special cake (one that is brightly decorated) presented to the attendees and hosts at some point during the event? Since the central focus of CV7 will be the Rock-afire Explosion's 30th anniversary a cake idea is essential to this whole commemoration. I definitely will take a photo of the cake if there is one and have a fellow attendee take a shot of me consuming the piece that I cut.

We will be having a booked Birthday Party at Fun Zone, and the package includes a cake i beleive. It will not be overly customized, but i can bring some themed decor to greatly enhance it. We did something similar for Chuck E's 30th when we held a booked Birthday at the San Jose CEC back in 2007. I jazzed up the plainly decorated CEC supplied cake with old school PTT decor custom made for the occassion.

Danny i have forwarded your message to Richard...as he is the best person here who can answer you question regarding the bus service. He knows all about the routes, much better then me.

Work i streaming ahead in prep for the Event. J , Cheryl and I will be getting together again soon to work on a secret surprise for the attendees...

It is related to the special entertainment additon i was casually mentioning recently....and it has grown into something quite cool. I think you guys are going to be a bit surprised...and never expect THIS!

The newly revised CV SeVen Logo is now finished and looks nice. Some changes were required to insure the image would print better and brighter on the forthcoming Cv Shirts and other Merch. Unfortunately it means dark colored Fatz had to go bye bye...and the Logo completely redesigned from the start. The colors were tweaked a little, and even the CV Text Logo was also freshened up slightly to insure it would stand out better on lighert colored goods.

HI gang!
I hate to say this, but Jenn, Cheryl and I are going with the new logo as the official one. I am VERY thankful that we have such talented people on this board, and I know that you can do wonders with computers, but we LOVE the new design, and thats the one that will be on all the merch. Please keep an eye out for the link soon, so that you can get your CV7 stuff on order asap.
Also, please remember that if you are going to be attending CV7, we need your RSVP as soon as possible. Even if you wont be traveling with us to the locations, we would love to know who's coming.

On another note, we would like to invite all attendees to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Rock Afire, by creating their own official colander head hat to bring to CV7. Every registered attendee that wears their colander to the Saturday morning welcome, will receive cool prizes!. So get those RAF thoughts rolling and start creating!

Okay Gang....LOTS to talk about as a LOT has been happening 'Behind the Cheese'...!

First off, i am thrilled to state that this years' CV is going to be leaning VERY heavily towards all things related to SHOWBIZ PIZZA PLACE. Yay! With that version of the concepts' anniversary now past ( last week ya'all ...throw some confetti towards Jacksonville!) it is time to get this 30th Anniversary into full gear. What better way then celebrating with probably the only people who FULLY appreciate and understand this healithy obsession we have ..yep ..fellow Showbiz and CEC Fans! We have a decent sized crowd now signed up and Registered to attend CheeseVention SeVen....so it will be a nice party!

Now we still have a couple of CEC related activities scheduled...one of which we feel will be one of the absolute highlights on the weekend. Beyond that, it is all pretty much Pro-Showbiz folks. I mean seriously people, WHY do you think we chose NEW YORK CITY for this years' CV? It is because it is the SHOWBIZ CAPITAL OF THE WORLD..what better place to celebrate SHOWBIZ PIZZA's 30th in a BIG WAY! "Think Big , BE Big" is our motto this year...and we mean it!

One way to honor this Anniversary is to participate in our COLANDER DECORATING CHALLANGE! J announced this in his earlier post, but it bears repeating - ALL CV ATTENDEES are encouraged to decorate a colander and wear it to Cv SeVen! When you all arrive at our meeting space, we would very much like to see EVERYONE have one! Decorate it anyway you wish...it does not have to be Showbiz or RAE related if you find this too difficult. GET CREATIVE as the Colanders Heads or yore used to...and make it your own! This is NOT a contest....but EVERYONE who decorates and wears their colanders Saturday morning will recieve COOL PRIZES! We have lots of stuff to give away...so get busy on your headgear so you can help us give it a good home!

Next tidbit - We are having a Birthday Party......and no, it is NOT at a Chuck E. Cheese's!

( cue Beatles tune...) - " They say it's your Birthday....It's my Birthday too, y

Now for some tidbits to keep you on the edge of your seat for the next few weeks...

Jenn has been busy cutting out of lot of bits of paper...and coloring some things. This years' CV Program will feature a VERY cool and compact photo collage of the history of Showbiz Pizza Place! Every attendees will recieve a Program at the Start of CV that lists the Schedule of Events. Everyone will ALSO be recieving something else as a added bonus....a neat 'directions card' custom made in a familair -old school Showbiz' kind of way.

J had been busy cutting out a lot of foamcore and getting glitter in places best left unsaid. Remember our motto? Well, this addition pretty much sums that up nicely...in a glitzy show-business kind of way...

Cheryl has been busy having fun with bits of hair.....actually, LOTS of it...and it is still being found on clothing! No matter what you do it gets EVERYWHERE...but the end result is pretty impressive.

Travis has been busy playing on his computer. No...not 'Tetris'.....updating this fine website and working hard to bring you all some items you have been waiting to see! I can't wait to see em' myself...but we all need to wait just a little longer

I dont want to talk about the gitter, Jenn was right, there is glitter in places that is better left unsaid! An as far as hair goes....Just come to CV7 and you'll see what we mean!

We will be driving into MARS 2112 on Saturday so be ready to leave the hotel about 10:15 or so.....and those coming to Wicked on Friday night, we will be leaving about 4:30 or so, by boat accross the bay to midtown.

any idea what time we'll be meeting in Jenn's room on Saturday morning ?

Shiney Happy Jenn
05-22-2010, 07:33 PM
EARLY!

Early risers will be happy...night owls will probably need coffee.

The TENTITIVE time at the moment is slated at 9:30am , with the Official Kickoff happening in the room at 10am. This COULD change however...as the final times are not firm at this moment. So please keep this in mind this early in the game...

It is possible we may need to push the start earlier...9am with a 9:30 Kickoff instead....i am waiting to hear final word on travel times and 'behind the scenes' coordination times.

When the times are finalized, and the Schedule of Events is set...ALL CV Attendees will recieve a personal e-mail containing the lineup in advance of the actual Event, along with any other additonal info. This will be sent to the e-mail you sent your Registration from...and it will probably go out a couple of weeks before CV SeVen.

Something i should mention is since we do plan on having a table and a little space to display collectibles, i would like to invite all Attendees to bring some of their own collection with them to be a part of our Event! My room will be small..but i would love to see what ya'all have to share! Bring something CEC or Showbiz related that you would be up for including in our collectibles display. The more unusual or unique the better...but please don't bring anything too rare or valuable as you will have to travel with it. Some ideas are custom plush, photo albums, scrapbooks, interesting old Merch, clothing items, etc. If you have something cool you would love other people to see who could fully appreciate the coolness about it, BRING IT WITH YOU!

:)

Okay, so my impression regarding the possible start time is 9am. Again, a CONFIRMED start time will be posted here soon...and a complete Schedule of Events list with final times will be e-mailed directly to all Attendees.

So either way, expect a EARLY start. We have a lot of ground to cover, and a lot of traveling and possible traffic issues to consider.

Glad you asked about this Danny. The plan is to meet in the hotel lobby, and one of us will meet up with you there to bring you to 'The Lounge'. I was thinking about this just 2 days ago...trying to come up with good ideas for just this scenerio....and i think this would make the most sense.

Cell Phone numbers are of course very welcome, as this will help us all keep in touch should anyone fall behind or arrive later then others. Please send a contact number to J via his email directly and we can keep them together in case we need to check in with you to be sure no one has fallen behind or gotten lost.

At the moment, 9am is looking like the most likely starting time. Again, none of the times have been confirmed at this point and this could change so don't write it in your stone tablets just yet folks!

Hypothetically speaking, if we DO indeed begin at 9am, what follows below would be a rough overview of how the day would start off...

At 9am all Attendees should be assembled in the lobby of the Hampton Inn ( the Official CV SeVen Hotel). Around this time ONE of your fabulous Co-Hosts will appear, gather the masses, and bring everyone as a Group up to 'The Lounge' ( my room..). There you will be greeted and invited in to enjoy the displays and atmosphere.

At about 9:15 we will have our Official Welcome. 9:30 will see the start of the special entertainment segment, and the appearence of our Special Guest!

By 10am we will need to wrap things up in 'The Lounge' and get ready to depart the Hotel for our drive into the city for Lunch at 'MARS 2112'.

It will be a quick hour in 'The Lounge'....so don't be late or you will miss one of the highlights of this years' CV!

Hey everybody...just to let you know that "sometime" on Friday, we also will be taping a special CV7 puppet edition of "Rapid T. Rabbit and Friends" with my special co-host Looney Bird! We would like to shoot this in my hotel room early in the afternoon before we head into Manhattan to see "Wicked" but that may not be possible depending on when we will be allowed to check-in. So the show may take place very late at night after we return from Broadway. Either way, it would be very nice if we had some sort of a "studio" audience. So if you don't mind partying up late before our CV7 meet and road trip on Saturday, please join us! It will only be about a half hour.

I booked my flight through Travelocity.com. I am scheduled to arrive at La Guardia Airport around 2 P.M. on Friday, June 18. Though a possible option of getting to the Hampton Inn lodge has already been suggested to me here, I would like to know if there is a fellow CV7 attendee who can assist me in getting to the lodging facility on the first day of the chosen weekend. I figured that this would be a terrific way to save a little cash during our expedition. Since a few group members will have vehicles I would like to try to see if arrangements can be made for a fellow attendee to pick me up at La Guardia and go from there to the lodge.

I am scheduled to return home late in the morning on Monday, June 21. I have a reservation for the final night at La Guardia Airport Hotel. After visiting Central Park with the hosts will it be possible for one of you to transport me to the lodge so that I can fulfill this little money-saving idea?

If anyone here can assist me please let me know and we will go from there and get it all worked out.:)

OK gang, we are getting close to this Sunday's cut off for RSVP'ing for our CV7 Saturday trip to Funzone($25 per person payable to me) and adventurland($$ on your own for what you want to do) If I dont hear from you by midnight Sunday May 30, you can still come, but you wont be included in "Billy's" party at Funzone. Also if you have already rsvp'd I will need a check from you ahead of time befor we hit NY. Please contact me for my address so you can send a check ahead. Alright Gang...this is IT...we are really getting close now! Only about 4 weeks to go now!

Heed J's advice and be sure to Register NOW if you wish to join us for the FULL CV SeVen Experience! We will be booking 'Billy's' 30th Birthday right after the deadline date ( this Sunday the 30th) so don't wait! You can Register by emailing J directly at his personal address (listed earlier in this thread).

I am finishing up the last couple of projects related to the Be Big Weekend which is good news. The Schedule is now looking firmer for Saturday ( the main CV Day) which is also good.

Now about that videotaping....

Yes, LOONEY BIRD will be appearing LIVE for this taping with Rapid T. Rabbit at some point Friday Pre-CV. The exact time will probably not be known until the few days leading up to the Event..as there are a lot of things that need to get done on Friday when J, Cheryl, myself, and others arrive at the Hotel. We will have a VERY narrow window to get things ready since we have to rush off that night to see 'Wicked'...it is going to be tight!

Attendees don't have to worry about any of this though....as that all happens BEFORE CV actually starts on Saturday! I just wanted to clarify this to avoid any possible confusion....even i am starting to get confused with all the behind the scenes 'schedules' us Co-Hosts have to make sure all goes smoothly and to plan.

To to refresh -

The RTR videotaping will take place Friday pre-CV for anyone around who would like to join us. Exact times will not be known until the last minute.

Saturday we start things early ( 9am likely) in my room, spend an hour there at the Hotel, and then carpool off to Midtown Manhatten for Lunch at 'MARS 2112'. So those arriving without vehicles should try to hook up with fellow Attendees to share a ride to the locations we plan on visiting.

I am making up a special directions card that will have driving info to get from the Hotel to MARS, and from MARS to FUN ZONE. I HIGHLY recommend however that ALL Attendees visit Google Maps or Mapquest to print out your own directions just to be safe. We do not want people getting lost this year, exspecially in NYC! All addresses can be found at the related websites to the two CV Hotels, MARS, Fun Zone, and AdventureLand which were posted a couple of pages ago in this very thread.

After Lunch at 'MARS" we hit the road out of town and head off to FUN ZONE for our booked Birthday Bash. After a couple of hours partying, we will then continue on after the Bash to 'AdventureLand' amusement park which is a short ride down the road from Fun Zone. After another couple of hours there, we will return to the Hotel(s). Expect it to be a LATE night ( 11pm arrival at the Hotel(s) VERY possible!)

So yeah....it is going to be a FULL day. A LOT of driving. Please come prepared! Bring your favorite music to listen to in the car ( Rock-aFire of course!)...a good book...portable DVD players...etc. Also don't forget to bring a little extra money along for food, tolls, admission costs, and gas!

Oh wow, totally missed this deadline, haha. But regardless, I'm unsure if I'll be able to come to CV7 at this point, as I'm already on the skin of my teeth for my trip to San Diego in July. If I do show, I'll likely be driving up Friday and leaving Saturday evening or something. How will carpooling work?

I know I missed the RSVP, but if I wanted to come to the MARS and Funzone events and things, could I just tag along and pay for my stuff on my own check? I hope that isn't an issue.

Crossing my fingers and hoping that I'll be there with my Chuck Costume!

Okay gang...we are less then two weeks away now, and some things have come to light i felt needed to be addressed or discussed before the 'Be Big' Weekend.

Right now we have about 30 or so people registered...which is great! Many have asked about getting rides to and from the airport, their homes, and to the various destinations we plan on visiting.

Earlier in this thread i touched on this, and noted that it is the Attendee's own responsibility to arrange for their own transportation. Your CV Co-Hosts cannot transport, or make travel arrangements for everyone who plans on attending. As much as we would like to do this for people, we simply do not have the means. It would be GREAT to have a our own shuttle bus and just all go together...but unfortunately we don't have the funds or budget to do this at this time.

However, there are a few Attendees that WILL be coming in their own vehicles..so my advice is to hook up with someone and ask if it would be okay to ride with them. I know a couple of folks who are coming that may have some space..but i will let them offer it themselves.

--------------------------

So those Attendees who are coming -

If ANY of you would be willing to offer a seat or two for a fellow Fan to ride around with you for the day PLEASE POST HERE so those looking for rides can know who to ask. The Co-Hosts are very concerned that everyone will show up Saturday morning at the Hampton Inn for the Official Kickoff and someone will be left out when it comes time to leave the hotel.

-------------------------

The other item i wanted to bring to everyone's attention is our planned Lunch at 'MARS 2112'. Anyone who has heeded my advice earlier in this thread and has already printed out their Mapquest directions may have noticed the address is different when trying to look it up. The website has one address, Mapquest lists another....! So the BIG question is...WHICH ONE is the 'right one'? Good question.

Anyone care to comment? Richard?

Speaking of 'MARS 2112'...i personally felt it important to let Attendees know that this will not be your typical inexpensive 'sandwich shop ' joint. Burger King this is not! If you have checked out the website, and looked over the food photos...you will get my drift.

Be Aware - This is a EXPENSIVE place to eat, people. Notice how no menu is listed, or prices? In the heart of Times Sq, in high rent tourist-central..you can bet you are going to be shelling out for this. The food photos really have a professional 'gourmet presentation' vibe to them...which is awesome, but i am sure you pay for that novelty. I am sure the food tastes greaty...but i wanted Fans to be well aware of what you may be getting into price-wise. I am thinking $25 a burger-type-of place...and add on the 8% NY sales tax... or it it 10% now??

So in other words...BE PREPARED ( financially!)

It costs nothing to attend CV SeVen, but money sure will come in handy to cover your own personal costs such as -

Food
Gas
Parking Garage/Street Parking costs ( definately!)
Road tolls
Hotel Room costs
Arcade spending money ( for tokens, prizes, etc.)
Cv SeVen Merch ( online only, we won't have anything in hand at the Event)
Park Admission ( for AdventureLand)

Again, this is all just a heads up so Attendees will be FULLY AWARE of what they need to consider when deciding what to bring $$ wise.

PLEASE try to get your travel plans sorted out BEFORE you arrive at CV. This will just give you peace of mind, and make your weekend go much smoother....not to mention help give peace of mind to your Co-Hosts, who worry people are going to get left out or left behind/lost!

I have my method of transportation set for getting to the lodge once I have landed (it is the option that was given to me earlier from Richard). I am willing to ride along with anyone else participating to all the other locations on our agenda.

Here are the actual addresses of the three main locations involved in Cv SeVen.
Use these to print out your Mapquest directions. I figured it would be easier to list them here to save you all from having to visit all the websites to get the address ( like i just spent the last hour doing...oy..)

The Mars 2112 address is now confirmed as correct listed below.

Hampton Inn ( Official CV SeVen Hotel)
250 Harmon Blvd.
Secaucus, NJ
07094

MARS 2112
1633 Broadway
New York, NY
10019

Fun Zone Amusements
229 Broadhollow Road
Farmingdale, NY
11735

I have not listed 'AdventureLand' as it is so close to Fun Zone i am fairly confident we won't need printed directions to find our way there.

Heads up to all Attendees -
Very soon all registered fans will recieve a e-mail containing a copy of the Cv SeVen Schedule of Events. Normally we wait to reveal it the day of Event, when i pass out the specially printed Programs...but this year we had some requests for knowing it ahead of time. So watch for it SOON. It will be sent to the e-mail you registered with.

Fabulous '30th Anniversary' themed Cv SeVen Programs will still be passed out to everyone on Saturday, as i know this is a often valued as a cool collectible. The same Schedule of Events will be listed inside...so everyone will have the lineup with them at the Event.

If I may add a few tips transportationwise...

In Farmingdale, Broadhollow Road is also known as NY Route 110. Funzone and Adventureland are on the same side of the highway, with AL just North of Funzone. So on driving out from Funzone, just turn right to head North and Adventureland will come up shortly on the right side.

Airport to Hotel by transit:
If you're landing at Newark Liberty Int'l Airport (EWR), from any terminal you can board the Airtrain that will take you to the NJ Transit airport station (at the airport terminal buy a ticket from the vending machine for destination Secaucus). At the airport station be sure you board a NY-bound NJ Transit train (not an Amtrak train) and take that to Secaucus Junction. At Secaucus you can catch a taxi to the airport at Harmon Meadow. (There is no direct transit service between the Secaucus rail station and the hotel...though the two can be connected by an additional train and bus that would really take you out of the way to get from one to the other).

If you are arriving through either JFK or LaGuardia (LGA) airports from both of these you can take the New York Airport Service express bus to Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan then go inside the terminal for the NJ Transit #320 bus for Harmon Meadow...you have to buy a ticket from the NJT vending machine before boarding.

Useful transit websites:

Sorry for the typo, in this sentence airport should be hotel.

for those of you who are driving and don't want to have to fumble around for $$ for your tolls just getan EZ Pass transponder and each time you have to pay tolls the transponder will automatically Also a GPS system will come in cvcery handy when it comes to the driving just enter the starting an end address and the GPS does the rest. the car rental company will offer you both of these fevices but you have to ask for them when you pick the car up

Many thanks to Richard and Danny for making those very informative posts. I hope everyone will now be able to sort out their transportation issues, if there still is any at this point.

I have made up a special themed 'Directions Card' that will have written direction from the Hampton Inn to 'MARS 2112', as well as from 'MARS' to FUN ZONE. I still highly recommend however everyone attending print out their own directions as well, from either Mapquest, Google Maps, or whichever online map service you prefer. We don't want anyone getting lost!

Well we are about a WEEK AWAY now folks....are you pumped?

Have you all made a decorated Colander to wear for CV? The time to wear them will be in the morning, when we meet up at the Hampton Inn. Be sure you have em' on while enjoying our 'Lounge' in my hotel room. Everyone who brings and WEARS their decorated Colander will receive a neat prize!

As noted earlier, one of your Co-Hosts will meet up with the group waiting in the hotel lobby on Saturday morn a little before 9am. DO NOT BE LATE, as you will then not know which room we are going to! We have some cool surprises..so bring your cameras!

It will be a quick one hour visit in 'The Lounge' and it WILL be cramped - we have 30 people registered, and i have no idea how big my hotel room with be ( nothing huge...) so be aware of this. Seating will be limited to what is in my room...but i will save a chair for Danny. I would say 'bring your own chairs' but trust me, we will not have the room in 'The Lounge' so leave em' home. So it will be 'Standing Room Only' ( Danny being the exception of course!). Since we will be roomed surrounded by other hotel guests who may well be sleeping in...we will have to keep the volume down. Yeah i know....but the hotel is SOLD OUT and i don't want grumpy people in the rooms next to us banging on 'The Lounge' door 20 minutes into CV SeVen. As Looney Bird would say....that would 'suck'.

That website is wrong. The #129 bus goes to Harmon Cove, (and then only during rush hours). The hotels are at Harmon Meadow which is served full time by the #320 bus..

I've noticed some confusion among those taking public transit to the hotels so thought I should make this very clear:

The official hotels are at Harmon MEADOW....not Harmon COVE. Both are in Secacus but several miles apart.

The Harmon Cove/Meadow (Hartz Properties) website is to blame for the confusion because it says the #2 bus goes to the Meadow....this is WRONG, it only goes to the Cove!

To get to Harmon Meadows for the hotels via NJ Transit bus:
From New York (Port Authority Bus Terminal) it's the #320 bus.
From New Jersey (Hoboken Terminal) it's the #85 bus.

As I said before, there is no direct bus service from the Secaucus train station to the hotels at Harmon Meadow. You would have to take a train to Hoboken then get the #85 bus.

Awesome promo - I just started circulating it on Facebook for those signed up on the fanpage!

I'm getting excited... still a little nervous about the public transit but I think I'll manage. For those using the bus to get to Secaucus, heed Richard's advice! A quick zoom-in on Google maps shows that the bus does indeed go to the wrong property. If you do end up over there it's an (estimated) 12 minute walk on foot to get to where you need to be. Not much fun especially considering you probably have luggage with you!

I hate to write this....but here's a cautionary note:

For those of you coming into Manhattan on the NY Airport Service bus, be aware of what I call "baggage hustlers" preying on tourist passengers alighting from the coaches at Grand Central, and outside or inside the Port Authority Bus Terminal. These unscrupulous types (and they will obviously look so) will offer to carry your bags and/or escort you to the bus gate, then shake you down for a hefty tip afterwards. REFUSE any such offers for assistance and DO NOT let anybody touch your bags except for the bus driver or authorized Uniformed agents. And do your best to avoid looking like a 'lost tourist" that makes an easy target.

Hey Gang....

Hope you liked the off the cuff video we made the other night....a completely unplanned for, spur of the moment happening. Looks like we were sitting on an airfield with all those flashing lights in our faces...

...hmmm...wonder what THAT could be ??

Those coming will find out when they visit 'The Lounge'....

Well very shortly i will be heading off to Boston to meet up with Mr. Menutia at our happy airport. This will probably be my last post PRe-Event, so i just wanted to come on and wish everyone a SAFE TRIP if you are coming in from out of State. Don't forget your collectibles for display, and your Colanders! Also don't forget your cameras ( both still and video!). This will be a adventure, that is for sure...

Many thanks to Richard for posting about those 'hustlers' often found outside of the major transportation depos where visitors to the area often arrive. Definately heed his advice folks...

I thought this was finally curbed after all these years? I heard there was a clamp down by the police and the terminal authorities to keep these people away from the area? I have some experience first hand regarding this sham. On my first trip to NYC in 1985, my Mom was hassled by one of these 'handlers' once we got outside of Grand Central Station. He offered to carry her bags to the curb and hail a cab, which he did...but then of course wanted some money in return. She was tricked, even though our cab driver was trying to help shoo this guy away.

These are just touts trying to make a easy buck. They pretend to be porters or baggage handlers but in reality they are just folks making a quick theft basically and tricking you into tipping them for their breif 'service'. It is one person just ripping you off...basically...from your own hand. Be aware, and please re-read Richards post above if you are coming by rail. Uniformed personel ONLY are okay....stay away from anyone in regular street attire. Just keep that in mind and you are good!

Hey, like i said...have a SAFE TRIP into town everyone...and see you soon at CheeseVention SeVen!

As much as I'd like to say I enjoyed CV7 today, I had a horrible time. But it wasn't any of your guys' fault.

I had my colander all decorated (with a little Mac Tonight action figure and lots and lots of stars), but I got stuck in traffic and made it to the hotel right after everyone left. Then I was all super excited to see the show at Fun Zone. Keep in mind I've NEVER seen a RAE in person. This was my FIRST time seeing Beach Bear in person! ...I was extremely disappointed in the show. That one guy who thought he was hot **** for installing the show said they hadn't been running for years, then I heard J say that it was running yesterday, and I heard on the forum that it would be running. So lots of mixed messages there. I also wasn't feeling well AT ALL. So I really busted my ass today to get to Fun Zone....only to be hit by a big wall of disappointment.

I REALLY enjoyed getting to meet (uh...see? Haha.) people I recognized from the forum. You are all awesome. And despite the show's condition, I really enjoyed finally getting to see a real RAE. AND BEACH BEAR! Even though he was very dead (and filthy). I love how big and eerie Fatz is! I can see why he terrified so many kids back in the day. Haha. Mitzi was butt ugly. As was Earl. And poor Looney's barrel was turned into a trash can.

Did anyone else notice Beach Bear's left arm was broken in half?

Yes, I too was disapointed when we found out the show wasn't running. In fact, when Mike started heading towards the control room (So he could fix the Tivo unit), the operator decided to shut and lock the door and prevent ANYONE from fixing it. So, that was sort of a let down.

However, I still had a GREAT time, I took TONS of HD video of the event, Richard I will be sending you the footage tomorrow, and which file format do you need it in for editing? I finally met many of the members that I hadn't at CV5, including Travis, Mike, Alex, Nick, and more! They were all nice and seemed to have a good time! (Except for when me, J, Cheryl and Richard were stuck in traffic on the Long Island Expressway) :))

Well, I talked to the guy and he said that the air compressor is so old and it hasn't been running for so long that it might not even work, and he also told me that if the air compressor was turned on with all the mouths in the open position, they would damage the cylinders badly.

I thought it was still running on the Apple II system because I suggested to figure out what was wrong with the system by running it in general.

I had a great time at CV7 even with all the problems and such. I kinda expected something like this. I didn't expect them to not work at all though. If it's true that it would damage the system by having them run with their mouths open, that sounds really bad because last time I went there, all their mouths were stuck in open position while they were running. It really makes me sad to see them in such awful condition, especially because of how I used to go there as a kid and they were really working. They even used to have the show selector and would change it up too.

I have a bunch of pictures and stuff from the event, too. If anyone wants to see them. I'm currently uploading to photobucket. Thanks to the people who let me talk to you and take pictures and stuff!

Woah, who said the show would be fixed in running condition?!?! My god, Billy looks right out of a horror-murder movie, AND THE PARTY WAS FOR HIM! How scary. This makes me never want to see a RAE ever again, too afraid of the condition the show will be in. Also, why was Mitzi wearing that teal sweater? And isnt Beach Bear supposed to have a lei and white fur rather than brown crusty hair? Is all that I know wrong or is it that bad?!?!?!

Who said the show would be in good condition? I told everyone not to expect much because it's in awful condition. But no one listened to me. =|

Here is the video of us (edited despite the lighting problems) singing "Sal's Birthday" at Funzone.

I recall someone saying FunZone ordered new parts from Aaron. I assumed it would be repaired, in my mind with new cosmetics with the parts. I guess kind of expected something like that to happen though. Also to Rappid T Rabbit, is there any way to scan the RAE photo on the cake? I just want to see a clear picture of it.

Sorry my camera was in video mode (shooting in bad lighting and zoomed in) so I was unable to get a clear still picture of the cake at that moment.

Well, seeing as how CV7 is now officially over, I guess it's ALREADY time to start discussing future CheeseVentions! Namely, CV8!

http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/1788/updatedversionthin.png

And since we're on the topic of future CheeseVentions, why not we jump ahead three-four years to CV11!

http://img203.imageshack.us/img203/1732/wallpapernologos800x386.png

:)) I kid I kid. But seriously, CV11 in New York? It could feature my show! (Once I'm finally able to set everything up :p)

Ok gang, Im back from CV7, we hope you all had a wonderful time in NYC!!! I want to thank all those fans that came to NYC and before I start a full report, We are looking forward to next years fan convention, BUT AT THIS TIME no location has been decided on for next year yet, ....you jumped the gun here. I repeat there is no location decided on for next year yet! We will be deciding next years location later on in the fall, or winter, so please disreguard any postings by RAFE CEC GUY about future locations....he is not a member of the CV planning board. Look forward to a full CV7 report coming soon (as soon as I get some well needed sleep!) Once again......thanks to all of you for making CV7 a great fan get together!

sorry for the double post, but I tried to edit, and I wasnt able to!

Yeah, I heard that too. I was hoping it was true but I knew in the back of my mind that they wouldn't be able to do much, if anything. The Funzone staff just don't seem to care. Like, they told me it was "working", but their definition of "working"...isn't really our definition of it.The show seems to be in even worse condition than it was before. I don't remember beach bear's arm being like that before ;_; I wish they understood how valueable the show is. It wasn't always like this, I remember they used to be so good. I tried to tell people not to expect much from it. I wish people listened. It was still really fun to me though. Especially meeting other fans and such.

I know that CV8 won't automatically be in Florida. But hey, a guy can dream! :)

I know, but to see "TEXT THIS SIZE" Then,I kid, I kid in "THIS SIZE" is a bit misleading, dont you think?

On a more positive note to all the fans:
I heard from "THE KING" this morning and he sends his appologies to the fans out there. He said his band was a bit upset about not being paid for the last 20 years scence he left CEC, so he fired them and has been working with a new band, and has promised he will hook up with Chuck and reshoot the song he was going to perform for you all, and it will be on the CV7 DVD(which Im hoping will be out in a month or so....we will follow up closely with this!)
Look forward to this soon, and please all of you out there, dont be shy about letting us know where you might like next years location to be, so far we have requests for Florida, Pennsylvania, and California. Just please dont post a logo the size of texas with the state under it!
Thanks!

Fellow board members, I am now back home again. To say the least, CV7 was incredibly thrilling for me. I had a fabulous time and really enjoyed meeting more of you here in person. Of course, it could have only been better (for me anyways) if the RAE unit at Fun Zone was able to operate and keep us entertained while we were present there.

Richard, I want to thank you again for providing the much-needed assistance for me with the transportation methods on arriving at the lodges where I had made the reservations. You are such a helpful man, Richard. Thank you so much!:)

Just so everyone here knows, I am immensely pleased with how my photographs from the trip turned out.

I took TONS of HD video of the event, Richard I will be sending you the footage tomorrow, and which file format do you need it in for editing?

Dylan...it's best that I get the video footage in a playable media format...e.g. MiniDV tape, DVCAM, Hi8, VHS or DVD-R/+R. I will likely have to rely heavily on your footage to produce the DVD due to all the (lack of) lighting problems I had. Also, can I include your CV7 promo from YouTube on the disc?
