I'm a little (2 months? xD) late in posting this, but I thought I'd share regardless.
My little brother, Anthony's elementary school (which happens to be the one I went to, at least here in California-land) was having their annual Halloween party, 'The Boogie Bash' and Anthony begged me to go with him. I agreed and intended to wear my Hamburglar costume to it, but I didn't get it finished on time. So I decided to wear my Chuck costume. So I got the costume ready and made some teeth for the head, and Anthony gave me some glow sticks to hang from Chuck's ear.
There was a LOT more kids there than I expected (way more than last year!), and they didn't have seats this time (how very convenient...). As soon as I got there I explained to my mom and grandma not to leave me at any time and to pay close attention to me. Of course, when we got there they kept wandering off. Silly parents. So we get in and kids start running up getting super excited that Chuck came to their little party. The adults/staff members were excited as well. I wandered around inside for the majority of the time, dancing with kids to Weird Al and Michael Jackson, but then I decided to go outside despite it being overcrowded. When I got outside, the party host ran out and got me and asked if I could lead their parade as their guest of honor. Which was pretty sweet. So I led the kids around the school, marching all triumphantly and whatnot. The entire night I had two or three specific kids just keep sneaking over near me to say hi over and over. SO adorable.
I was expecting to have a lot of problems with the older kids, but I didn't. I only had a few problems. One girl kept following me around screaming "He's a fake! He's a fake!", then trying to hug me to see if I had boobs or not (lol.), and finally my mom said "Well you're a fake bumblebee, why are you bothering Chuck?" and she went away. xDD Some other kid kept whacking me really hard across the back of my head, and my mom forced him to stay away from me (yay for having a mom that works for the school!), and my brother of all people kept harassing me and daring his friends to who could rip out my teeth the fastest. I jokingly bonked him on the head and his friends had a kick out of Anthony getting hit by a giant mouse. And lastly I had an ADULT try to steal Chuck's glow-sticks. Her SON had to tell her not to. How very sad.
All in all I was in costume for about an hour and a half. I only bonked a few heads with Chuck's nose, but the kids I bonked found it hilarious (as I'm trying so hard to pantomime "OMG I'm sorry!"), and only a few parents were suspicious of me (my mom assured them I was no threat). It was a really exciting experience, I'm really glad I wore Chuck instead of the Hamburglar. Perhaps next year I'll go as Jasper?
