View Full Version : CEC Merchandise Question(figures, plushes)

Two questions really:

1. Has anyone "in the know" heard any word if there is going to be any new
character merchandise? Like say, more Helen stuff, or anything of Jasper, Munch or Pasqually? I remember for decades CEC always had cool new character merchandise; but then phased a lot of that out for licenced products(hanna montanna, pirates of the carribean, etc)
Its cool how they continually come out with new Chuck plushes, but it'd be great to get some new stuff in. (I have to give big props to CEC corporate for releasing the lunchboxes)

2. Does anyone know a full list of every PTT/CEC pvc figure that has come out? The merchandise section of the front page only lists the 1983 through 1996 pvcs.

However, I came across this recently
http://i.ebayimg.com/18/%21BU0VE6Q%21Wk%7E$%28KGrHgoOKi8EjlLmZdNYBKPfqooQT g%7E%7E_1.JPG
(there is also one of this series where hes on a skateboard)
I believe those are from 2001, tho I dont know what other
ones they made

As well as of course, the tiny 1.5" quarter machine ones ( from 2004?)http://www.showbizpizza.com/shop/ce02/cecfigs-5guitar.jpg

There was also a big 5" posable Chuck bendie figure(in his mid 90's "Chuck Tux" outfit) that I've seen on ebay(I think it originally came with a casette tape)

Anyone know of any other figure/pvc/figural keychain/etc that came out?

Here's my only pvc figure that made it through a move 11 years ago.
All my other older ones are MIA. Its kinda like Travel Chuck, they just disappeared. Only my pvc characters didnt have a happy ending like Travel Chuck did (Tip: put all your CEC pvc figures in one small box! lol)

The lunchboxes you mentioned are really cool. I was totally surprised when I first saw them :)
As far as character merchandise, I really, really wish they would come out with some more stuff :( At this point though, it's starting to feel like a lost cause...aside from the occasional Helen-related item, of course.
Back in the early 00's, when they had character plushes behind the counter, I was always hearing about how the Jasper dolls would go pretty quickly...in some occasions, even moreso than the Chucks...but then again there's this whole weird thing within the company where they don't want to 'upstage' Chuck E, which is apparently one of the reasons you never really see walkarounds of the other characters anymore.

Oh yeah, Soccer Chuck. Do you remember what year these are from?
Sorry the other ones didnt make it.

Ive seen every single Pizza Time Theater to Chuck E Cheese pvc on ebay for super cheap, including even the Rockafire Explosion small pvc figures.

I remember going to PTT/CEC in the 80's, always hoping they would come out with pvcs of the other characters, and even a Balcony playset. And I remember one day in 1994, being so excited when I walked in and saw they had finally released a Helen and Pasqually figure.

Just imagine if they had come out with pvc figurines of:

Harmony Howlette
The King
Madame Oink
Artie Antlers
Dolli Dimples
B. B. Bubbles
Foxy Colleen
Crusty the Cat
Sally Sashay
King Kat
The Warblettes
The Beagles
The Beach Bowzers

According to the back of this CEC action figure prototype box, it looked like they did in fact plan on making figures of the other characters:

I have that too! Im not sure when I got him or what set he was in.

I wonder how many CEC related figurines have been released all totalled.

I think that cheerleader outfit Helen walkaround is by far the coolest CEC walkaround Ive seen. One would think CEC Ent would see the potential for other characters.
Heck, Id like to see them introduce new characters.

In the history section of this site, there is a pdf of a manual for all 5 of the character walkarounds. Thats so cool that some stores had a Munch, Jasper and Pasqually walkaround(Weird that the CEC movie in 1999 had just some guy play Pasqually)

Yeah it doesnt seem like they'll be coming out with any cool new merchandise. Most the workers don't even seem to know the names "Munch", "Jasper" or "Pasqually" at my local CEC stores.

I remember in the 1980's through 1990's, the ticket redemption counter was overflowing with character merchandise of all kind. Munch, Jasper, and Pasqually plushes of all size and kinds. So much stuff.
I SO wish I had gotten some of that. A lot of it I still havent seen on ebay sadly

Oh...what could have been...

Aw ok. I guess the only other pvcs released were rollerskate/skateboard chuck in 2001, and then the 5 tiny vending machines ones in 2004.

Here's a picture of the only released posable CEC figure:
(from 1995 I believe)

Yeah, in the 90's it really wasn't that uncommon for stores to have multiple walkarounds. Heck, Helen was pretty common over here in SoCal...haven't seen her out in a while but she might still make the rounds.
It really is a pity. When I was in Texas a few months ago, I visited a store that had a new Helen walkaround and the kids really seemed to dig her. I can only imagine how they'd react with the others out on the floor with her.

Anyways, I'm with you. I reeeeally regret not snatching up more character-specific merch 'back in the day'. Little things...keychains, stickers, etc. Sigh.

There was a LOT of 'character Merch' back in the 90's...right after the MMBB concept was launched there seemed to be no end of seperate Merch for ALL the characters ( even frickin' Pasqually!). Stickers, Dolls, tattoos, paper goods, you name it. It was insane..but a great time to be a CEC collector if you wanted stuff featuring your favorite character without Chuck included!

In the mid 90's things mellowed out, but we still had all the seperate characters as dolls/plush. Starting in 2001 or so we saw a major ( and awesome) upgrade to the plush line with new Helen, Jasper, and Munch plushes. They lasted a couple of years, but then the Company decided it was a 'waste of resources' ( aka their time and money..) to invest in making further merch versions of 'Chuck E.s Friends. The markering stragety at that time was shifting to focusing on JUST CHUCK E......thus why you saw all the other characters 'dissapear'. So the merch line was streamlined tremendously. Great for the bottom line probably, but lousey if you like to collect this stuff!

With the success of the 'Limited Edition' line of plush, and no doubt the Company learning about us ( the collectors out here..) they decided to reinstate a line a Helen merchandise. So as of now, only Helen and Chuck stuff is out there. Oh sure, once in a while you will come across a small item featuring just one character other then Chuck...but it is very unusual these days.

There were several PVCs released. I swear i posted the full list on here before ( another thread i guess...i don't see it here..) but if you would like a rundown let me know and i can post the known figures.

Would love to see that list:)

And I agree, up until the turn of the millennium there seemed to be an endless amount of non Chuck merchandise.

I would have loved to have seen a Larry the Technician plush, but then again never in the 32 year history has PTT or Showbiz ever made plushes of anyone but the main 5(with the exception of "Pepperoni" who supposedly is a character but only in plush form)

I'd love to have some kind of documented list of merch by character, but that would probably be a pain in the ass...however, if anyone feels inclined to share what they have/are aware of...hint, hint :)

Yep, that's the one! She's awesome. Made much differently than the other plushes...possibly by a different manufacturer?
It really does make me wonder though. If there's a Dolli, it's entirely possible for there to be one of, say, The King, considering the fact that he was pretty popular back then. I don't know about PVCs though...they seem to be one of the more common merch items (I'm always coming across PVCs of Chuck and Jasper at flea markets), likely because they were pretty cheap and widely available back then...so I feel like they would have turned up already.
But heck, a few years ago, I don't think any of us on here could have fathomed a Dolli plush ever existing, so who knows? I remember when that 'boxed' prototype CEC figure first surfaced several years ago, a few of us were wondering if there were any produced of the other characters.
Only time will tell!

Yeah well if anyone from here was going to win her from eBay I'm glad Captslappy did... =D>

But yeah Harmony's right if they were gonna go out of the ordinary cast of characters and make Dolli plushes... I'm almost certain there's a King plush out there somewhere since he was found at more stores than she was... :-?

So this definitely isn't a prototype? Or maybe it was just sold briefly at one store? Just seems strange noone would have come across it before on ebay or elsewhere, or remember it. Definitely the rarest of all PTT merchandise.
I would so love a King plush...heck I know I'd go crazy for a Warblettes plush! It makes sense there would be a King plush, even in prototype form, given he was the most widely distributed and longest lasting non main 5 character.

I seem to have a ton of Jaspers and Sports chuck pvcs. I *finally* after 22 years of wanting, got ahold of the Rockafire Explosion pvc figures(which are in the same scale as the PTT ones) Given the relative ease and cheapness itd be to make pvcs, Im surprised Chuck, Munch and Jasper were the only ones made back then. My favorite is of course, red derby/red vest Chuck.

But heck, a few years ago, I don't think any of us on here could have fathomed a Dolli plush ever existing, so who knows? I remember when that 'boxed' prototype CEC figure first surfaced several years ago, a few of us were wondering if there were any produced of the other characters.

Yeah that is odd seeing that, as the Chuck prototype figure looks pretty modern. Or maybe its that retro style toys are so ubiqitous? Hmmm...
(The back of that prototype box...if ONLY they had made all those characters!)

I'd be curious what the rarest of PTT/CEC stuff is, released or unreleased.

My only memory of Dolli(I didnt even know her name other than the "big hippo lady") was seeing her a couple times at Pizza Time Theaters in the early 80's when I was like 3 or 4.
The King though, I remember him being at the majority of PTT and PTT styled Chuck E Cheese's I went to in the mid to late 1980's and even into the 1990's.

Hmm. I'm not really sure. It COULD have been a prototype. Maybe the Capt can shed some light on this for us? He may have talked to the person who sold it to him on eBay? I don't know about being store exclusive, because that seems like it would have been pretty expensive to produce in small amounts...but then again, this IS PTT we're talking about ;) makes a ton of sense why they eventually went bankrupt, haha.
It might just have been a regular merch item though. Like I said, the world of PTT merch is enormous and pretty mysterious.

Well let's see...some of the most uncommon items I've come across on eBay over the years (things that have only turned up once) are:

-The Dolli plush
-The King Puppet
-The King T-Shirt
-The Beagles T-Shirt
-Prototype CEC Halloween masks
-Prototype CEC figurine
-Prototype CEC socks
-Dolli Dimples silver pendant

I know there is/are more that are slipping my mind right now...feel free to add on to this list.

Definitely, when you read Bushnell's history it seems they bit off more than they could chew. At least they had 7 years of glory, and PTT lived on in many ways til the mid 1990's. Im happy some former PTT people have shed light on the creative process on here, just amazing to know what a closeknit family they were; bustling with creativity and all sorts of ideas. All from one small pizza joint with animatronic portraits on the wall(Ok, and Atari money...but still. And hey didnt Nintendo own Canadian Chuck E Cheese?)
That...all seems to have been gone by the 90's. But its amazing how creative and fun both the PTT and RAE/Showbiz teams were back then.

Like I said, the world of PTT merch is enormous and pretty mysterious.

Haha, thats whats so cool. I know the Dolli plush was discovered two years ago, but who knows what exists out there...at least in prototype form. If you see the 1984 "PTT vs Showbiz" news piece, it shows Bushnell at his desk with like a gillion plushes and merchandise. And seeing all the rare/prototype Showbiz stuff as well is quite nifty as well(I sooo wish they had come out with an Earl Schmerle doll!)

Its funny, because this literally is the most underground fandom Im into, as much as every single person knows about "Chuck E Cheese". Im extremely grateful I got to go to actual Pizza Time Theaters and Showbiz Pizza Places growing up(and still not look a day over 22!) Even my friends have queried "um, its Chuck E Cheese...where all the unwed parents take their screaming kids...why are you into that?" They dont get the rich magical history of Bushnell and Fechter's work.

Thats so wild they made shirts of those guys.
Ive said it before, but I would sooooooooo *love* for some retro PTT/CEC shirts to come out. Im glad I at least snagged a Showbiz shirt at the RAE movie.

I want to believe, *somewhere*, schematic concept designs or *gasp* even prototypes exist of PVC figurines for Dolli Dimples, The King, Harmony Howlette, Artie Antlers, Madame Oink and BB Bubbles:)
...err, at least of Dolli, King and Howlette.

*Had the most random conversation the other night at a restaurant with a friend of a friend who randomly brought up fond memories of seeing Dolli Dimples at Chuck E Cheese's in early 80's Utah*

I am sure there were severl 'prototype' items made but never produced for a full release. Almost every company that produces such merchandise designs a ton of stuff, has protos made, and then bases their final judgement on the execution of those protos...as well as the costs involved to produce each item in quaintity.

I am fairly certain that we will see more of these things come to light.

The Dolli Dimples plush was a huge find. I remember when it was first posted on eBay a couple of years ago. It created a big stir in the PTT Fan Communtiy as we all were well aware of the incredible scarsity of this item. I was asked my opinion on it, and still hold that it was a prototype or was a small run sold only at a early PTT or two out in CA. Test runs were also done with some merch i am sure, and Dolli may have been in this catagory. She was probably more expensive to produce and may have not been that popular thus why we never saw the plush go national. Stuff like this happens a lot.

The first few PTT's produced a lot of 'exclusive' merch back in the day so it is completey beleivable to me that other rare peices exisit. As someone said earlier, only time will tell.

Okay, now for that PVC list ya'all are asking for.

Here is a list of known PVC's. Please feel free to add to it if i missed something. I have all of these, but i may have missed one you might have!

The first known nationally released PVC set was in 1983. Set consisted of only three figures, all stamped with '(c) 1983 Pizza Time Theatre' on the bottom of their feet. They are-

'Classic Rat' Chuck E. Cheese ( in red vest/derby)
"Classic Jasper' hillbilly dog with banjo ( no shirt)
'Classic Mr. Munch' holding a whole pizza in both hands ( no clothing or shoes)

After PTT Inc. went under and was bought out by Showbiz, these three figures continued to be recylced over and over for many years afterwards. In the mid 80's keychains made from these figures started to appear. By the early 90's the copyright was changed with the updated 'Showbiz Pizza Time Inc.' text.

The quality and coloring of the later versions of this set is slightly different from the originals...worth noting for collector purposes.

1986 saw the release of a 3-figure set of just Chuck E. wearing various sporting uniforms. These were really kind of crappy looking....and did not at all look very much like the character. They were marked (c) Pizza Time Inc. under their feet.

The 3 figures are-

Chuck E. in football uniform holding ball
Chuck E. in basketball uniform spinning ball on finger
Chuck E. in baseball uniform learning on bat

In 94' they released a all-new set of PVC figures as Chuck and his pals had changed so much it was desperately needed. Here we see a nice set as it included new versions of Chuck E. and the debut of Helen and Pasqually in PVC form.
There was no new Jasper or Munch versions however, these were simply 'recycled' from the original set molds made in 83' Munch in partiular was sold right up until 2002 at many locations. I used to order a lot of them!

The 94' collection included-

'Tux Chuck' standing with cane
'Rollerblading Chuck' in yellow/green sportshirt
'Helen Henny' in stage attire ( purple/black dress)
Pasqaully ( serving a hot pizza)

The next set to be released nationally was a 'second wave' of Chuck E. Cheese PVC's in 1996. They were four figures, all of CHuck E., again wearing various sports themed outfits. These figures were designed to fit in with the then current image of Chuck, the famous 'Coach Chuck E.' look of the mid-90's. All of these were marked (c) Showbiz Pizza Time Inc. The 'Hockey Chuck' figure came in three different color versions, red being the most common.

The four figures are-

'Coach Chuck E.' with red shirt, whistle around neck, and soccer ball
'Hockey Chuck E.' wearing a hockey outfit, skates, and holding a stick. RED jersey
'Hockey Chuck E.' ( same as above, but BLUE)
'Hockey Chuck E.' ( same as above but WHITE)

The above figures, along with the Helen and Pasqually from 94', and the original Jasper and Munch figure molds from 83' were sold for the most part of the late 90's and early 2000's.

In 2001 ( could have been 02'..i forget), the first NEW PVC in some time was released.
This was the 'Upside Down Skateboaring Chuck E.'. A pretty neat figure, though smaller then all previous figures. Corp made a big deal out of its release ( back when they first started to realize people collect CEC merch..)

'Upside Down Skateboarding Chuck' dressed in yellow and purple sporty attire, balancing with hands on skateboard.

At this point in time the PVC line was officially phased out as they were pricey to produce and the Company was moving in a new direction with their merch offerings. However, a few years later in 2003 we saw a ALL NEW 'Mini PVC Set' released through 'collectible figure' vending machines at shopping malls and arcades. They were nice, but very small compared to the earlier figures. The characters appeared in their modern attire and for the first time we finally see a ALL NEW version of Jasper, Munch and Pasqually!

2003 saw these tiny figures see release, but take note these were never sold at CEC Locations but were completely licensened. A cool set..well worth finding!

Mini PVC Set includes-

'Rollerblading Chuck' purple and green attire, with safety gear
'Soccer Chuck' in yellow and red soccer outfirt kicking ball
'Rocker Chuck' dressed like Bruce Springsteen with electric guitar
'Modern Chuck' in then-current sporty look with backwards cap
'Modern Jasper' holding his hat, wearing his cow shirt
'Modern Helen' dressed in Daisy Duke shorts and form fitting clothing
'Modern Munch' wearing 'Eat More' shirt with a pizza slice graphic
'Modern Pasqaully' - if one could use that term....

The LAST PVC's released nationally at CEC Locations to date that i am aware of are these two small figures released in 2007. Both are nice, but again, quite small.

'Hockey Chuck with stand' - dressed in purple outfit, skating, with stick
'Rollerblading Chuck small version' - dressed in same colors, with purple skates.

If i have missed any, again, please add to the list! If anyone has photos feel free to share!

Jenn: THANKS so much for your post! As always, I always look forward to your posts be it re: Pizza Time Theater character history or merch, or just general history.
As much as I totally dig the bias and love toward Showbiz/RAE(heck, I went there more than CEC growing up), I'll always be first and foremost a PTT kid. Hence why it's so cool seeing stuff on characters I never saw or barely remember.

I am sure there were severl 'prototype' items made but never produced for a full release. Almost every company that produces such merchandise designs a ton of stuff, has protos made, and then bases their final judgement on the execution of those protos...as well as the costs involved to produce each item in quaintity.

I remember reading Travis' account of touring CEC Ent corporate, and said there was a whole room of prototype merch waiting approval.

Sadly, it seems the character merch, even of Chuck, is fleeting at modern CEC. Tho, as always, Im curious what if any cool merch will make it to stores.

I am fairly certain that we will see more of these things come to light.

I'd like to think so! The idea of a King, Dollie, Warblettes, or non 'core 5'
prototype pvcs, plushes etc out is way too cool. Somewhere, I'd like to think there are such pvcs or other nifty items that'll appear randomly on ebay(err, tho I can imagine the fierce bidding war that would ensue)

When did Dolli debut in stores, 1981? Given aint noone has seen this before, my money would be on prototype, tho more likely *extremely* limited release at *one* PTT location briefly in the early 80's. What was the description of the item on the auction?

Ive seen pictures of those 90's era Rockafire Plushes, and definitely wish those would have gone into production.

Sadly, Showbiz Pizza Time Inc only released two Rockafire pvc figures,
Billy Bob and Fatz(in the same scale as the PTT pvcs) I always wished they would have released Mitzi, Beach Bear and Dook pvcs.

Saw this recently on ebay, I have to say these are VERY cool and I'd count these as pvc figures

Huh! I guess I have seen it before, I just didn't remember....I guess my mind blocked out that ridiculous color scheme ;)

I actually visited Corporate earlier this year and checked out the merch area. There really wasn't much worth noting...just bags full of the latest LE plush and a ton of generic stuff, not much different than what you see at CECs right now :(

Wow, you went to corporate? Haha, I swear youre hardcore beyond words.

Up until I came back to checking out this site earlier this year, I was under the impression that CEC Ent HQ in Texas had this huge museum for Pizza Time Theater era characters and stuff, as well as all sorts of other things. Do they even acknowledge anywhere there direct decendency from Showbiz?

Just wondering if there is *anything* interesting or cool at the CEC offices.

Hahaha yeah I guess I am, huh? I've been there a few times.

I'm not sure if 'museum' is the right term but HQ definitely has some pretty interesting stuff in their archives...the walls are dotted with concept art and things like old ads and original paintings of in-store art. There IS some SPP/RAE stuff there, actually...parody posters and the like.

HQ is a pretty neat place to visit if you're a huge nerd about this stuff like me...some really cool stuff to geek out over (like the Dep 18 inhouse studio).

I don't know why I never fully acknowledged it, but consistantly time and time again since I was a toddler next to the Muppets and anything Jim Henson; the world of Chuck E Cheese and Showbiz Pizza Place was always a very important, magical and inspirational thing for me. I still remember the night I found tripod.com/rockafire and just couldnt believe that there was a dedicated following to all this stuff. So over the years I'd check back in to the site, and always visited various CEC's now and then. I'd say it was really stumbling across the Rockafire trailer earlier this year which really rekindled my passion and nerddom for all things CEC/PTT/Showbiz/RAE(even tho that film in particular is very anti CEC)

Just so surreal to see *other* CEC/RAE nerds like me, ha. Even cooler you've been able to go across to other states to check out people's animatronic collection and to corporate. Im also glad youve gotten to see the San Jose one(I remember always passing by that growing up but never having gotten to go to it til recently)

My dream is that someone clandestinely recreates an entire PTT somehow, or that the Rockafire resurgence really takes off and Fechter and company do some really cool new stuff. And of course, CEC Ent coming to their senses and bringing up a bunch of interesting new merch and maybe another movie.

Btw, you been able to meet other fans offline? I swear even the managers at local CEC's I sometimes pop into look at me funny when I mention Pizza Time Theater or Showbiz. (That and I dont look like Im old enough to remember that period, ha)

One more thing, is there any places youve always wanted to check out(CEC/PTT/SPP related) but havent yet?

Totally agreed. I really wish I could go back in time to my first trip to a PTT...it was so mysterious to me as a kid.

I think if they were to develop a film inhouse rather than farming it out to some third party (like Funimation with the G5K), it'd turn out pretty good...or at least better than the G5K, heh heh.

Hmm...other fans offline. Well I've hung out with several folks I've met on this very forum, if that's what you mean...I love getting together with them when I can :) Aside from that, I have met some people over the years who are interested in the concept...usually other animatronic/puppetry geeks.

I'd really love to see a Porch Stage sometime (I went YEARS without ever knowing we had one in Simi Valley...augh!), and see a RAE again....I want to check out SPZ one day.
I have to admit that Saudi Arabia CEC looks fascinating but...going to the Middle East just to check out a fancy Chuck E. Cheese's...I may be nerdy but I'm not THAT nerdy ;)

I *swear* you and I have the EXACT same experience going to PTT. Just weird running into someone who remembers it exactly the same. Mysterious is definitely a word I'd use to describe my experiences of PTT and PTT styled CEC's in the 80's-mid 90's. I mean, the cheddar wall holes and balcony stage mini rooms...you gotta give it up. From walking through the red doors, to seeing the ticket redemption and salad bar immediately to the left(or right), and then dimmed lights leading past the cabaret side room,
King/Beagles/Bowser area, arcade game section and then the almight Balcony stage show rife with flags and animal arms coming out of the wall. I get goosebumps just thinking about it. Its been sooo long since I was at one, that it almost seems like a dream

I have this really fond memory of sitting there as a kid with my family watching the Balcony show, and sketching the whole balcony show as an action figure playset. Chuck, Munch, Jasper, Helen, Pasqually, Warblettes, King off to the side, Random props. I think I was like 10 or something.

I just cant believe you remember all this too, you seem so young(I so hate telling people my age)

Oh it was an outsourced movie?(G5K) Even tho it was still the 90's, I didnt think it should have been so bad. I mean I loved the comic book, which was based off a Showtape skit. And I dug the other stuff of the time. But the "movie" just felt so insulting. Still...while I dont have the vhs I downloaded it from youtube. I wonder why Dept 18 has never put out a commercial dvd, just the 2001 cd? Hmmm. Id totally love any sort of Dept 18 created film tho. I say they could have it where CEC and the gang go into downtown Irving or elsewhere in TX, total guerrilla style. Everyone on the street is wondering what the heck is going on, and theyre totally oblvious to it as theyre on their misadventure. Make it part offbeat indie slacker comedy with sardonic humor.

And aww! Youre lucky youve gotten to meet/hang with other fans. Im usually tied to work or geography due to finances. That, and its so niche/underground. Even my hardcore Muppet fandom, its hard to find Muppet fans...people here Chuck E Cheese or Muppets, they think lame baby stuff and completely miss the richly woven contextual history.

Alas, I've ranted enough. Yeah there was a HUGE stadium sized
Showbiz Pizza Place in Kuwait City, but it got bombed by Saddam's forces in 1990. I believe there is still a Showbiz in Lebanon if it didnt get hit during the 2006 Israeli-Lebanon war. I hear there is also a showbiz in Dubai?
I know they are spose to be building a CEC there. The CEC in Saudi Arabia looks crazy epic. Its just, parts of the middle east scare me due to various geo political goings on and cultural situations. I wonder why theres no more CEC in Europe, Australia, etc? I know Nintendo owned PTT in Canada while Atari owned PTT in the US

Oh! One more thing......to bring this all back to merchandise...

I feel bad I cant find you an extra copy of the CEC mini magazine! I know youve wanted those awhile. I was able to find the Justice League and CEC one. I think there were more.

Harmony was asking for photos of the last two PVCs to be sold IN a CEC Location. I do not have pix myself...but i do have the figures.

This photo from our friend Mech IS INDEED one of them- 'Rollerblading Chuck small version"

http://i.ebayimg.com/18/%21BU0VE6Q%21Wk%7E$%28KGrHgoOKi8EjlLmZdNYBKPfqooQT g%7E%7E_1.JPG

The other one in this set look VERY much like this one, but is dressed in similar colored hockey gear and is holding a stick. He is also on a blue base.

Both of these were quite small when compared to the earlier PVC editions.

For those wanting to know...!

Question from MechCorey-

"When did Dolli debut in stores, 1981? Given aint noone has seen this before, my money would be on prototype, tho more likely *extremely* limited release at *one* PTT location briefly in the early 80's. What was the description of the item on the auction? "

If you are talking about the CHARACTER/Animatronics, she was the very FIRST 'Caberet' act to debut at the first PTT in San Jose, CA in 1978. If you want more info about her, check out the posts i made in the huge 'PTT Bots' Still Exsist' thread in the PTT section. Even though she was not a part of the main 'Balcony Show' she was regarded as the 'female lead' character right up until the company folded in 83'. Dolli was seen on numerous peices of Merch, though she more often appeared with other PTT character and less commonly as just herself. Some Dolli stuff i can think offhand is a cool metal button/pin from 81', Valentine cards from 82', a whole side of the 'Chuck E. Cube' dedicated to her ( a Rubik's Cube knockoff sold at PTT in 82'), and appearences in the original PTT coloring book ( 81')

As far as MERCH for Dolli goes, the first peices were in 79' with a set of PTT glasses ( one featuring the first Dolli). Pix can be seen in the 'PTT Collectibles' Section here on SP.Com.

The Dolli plush came from CA, and no doubt was a local release/test release. It could ALSO very well be a merch sample as noted earlier in my previous post. Your guesses are correct. I cannot recall the exact description from the original auction, but i do recall it coming from CA which is where the bulk of PTT's were at that time, not to mention Company Headquarters!

Haha I like the movie concept you've got going there! I think that could be pretty kick-ass...something clever and tongue-in-cheek and character driven. I would love to see something like that produced...man, this makes me want to make a comic or something since who knows if/when such a thing will ever come to fruition. Sigh.

I've been pretty lucky in the hanging-out-with-other-fans area. It's not as often as I'd like but It's really nice to be able to talk nerdy with them and just generally hang out.

Don't feel bad about the comic! I'm really just looking for scans at this point...someone did scan that issue actually, and I have copies of two others (one of them is already available on sp.com)...I do wonder if there were more though, I can't really remember. I just wish the art was better.

Aww thanks! I just LOVE smartly written offbeat comedies. I mean Napoleon Dynamite and the Great Buck Howard were PG, but I think are classic. I dont think movies for kids should be low brow and pandering(which is sadly what I am hearing about G-Force)
I think itd be a fun challenge to make a direct to dvd CEC gang movie
yet have it play on different levels. Omg, Id love to see even just ONE comic strip related to CEC from you! hehe

Well youre also in Los Angeles/Socal, so that helps:) I definitely think
it helps to be in or near bigger metro areas to find those into whatever sort of geekery one loves...be it tabletop gaming, anime, sci fi, etc
Ive never really met someone in person I was able to geek out with

Heh heh I might have to do that comic then :) I've had a few ideas brewing for a while.

That old Rat Tales comic is pretty awesome, I think...I was just looking at it earlier, actually. I like the art, it kind of reminds me of the Underground Comix of the 60's-70's. It's rough around the edges, which is nice. None of this overly refined clip-art crap.

Aw, I had forgotten she was one of the originals from the late 70's. (Remembers the Dolli and other kick ass threads you made on some of the original PTT characters)
If Im not mistaken, wasnt one of the last references to Dolli being the Wizard of Cheese parody poster from the late 80's/early 90's? I like how the PTT characters like King, Harmony, Warblettes, Artie and Dolli were given one last hurrah...even if it was poster form.
Who technically owns the rigthts to the name/characters of Dolli Dimples, The King, Harmony Howlette, BB Bubbles, Foxy Colleen, Artie Antlers, Madame Oink, Warblettes, etc? Ive seen the 3" pin Travis has on his ebay store, and some of the other stuff.

One has to wonder how many of these suckers were made(err, and why in 14 years of ebay only one ever appeared, hehe) I definitely would have to say the Dolli plush and CEC figure prototype are the coolest rare/unreleased
CEC merch Ive ever heard of.
Cost wise...I wonder how difficult it is to make a super limited run for just one store, given having to create prototypes and factory samples and ship it all off for overseas productions.

As someone who has been doing webcomics for awhile, I would be quite impressed/excited to see them:)

Hehe, the Rat Tales comic is a trip...to me it was creepy(not Uncle Klunk creepy but still...) how the plot centers around a machine threatening to turn Chuck and company into animatronic bots that would be stuck to the wall...and then the comic makes it a point that theyre inprisoned at PTT. Not really what I woulda gone with, but interesting. I like how they made Munch from a different planet(isnt there a Munch Jr mentioned on a showtape?) I wish there would have been more comics. I think Rat Tales, the Chuck(l)es Comic#1, and then the comics in the three mini zines are the only ones they ever made.

Holy crap, you're right...I think that early 80's Christmas special was like, barely animatics. Ok, we'll scratch that one. Here's the ones I recall off hand

(**of note** Ive begun to realize how intregal Larry is to the CEC main core, going back through some of the late 80's showtapes...its almost like he's been the unofficial "sixth" main character for awhile given he is also part of the Studio C Alpha show with Bird)

And on a slightly related note, one of the last Rockafire Showbiz showtapes, from march 1991 comes a part computer generated animated music video with Billy Bob, Looney Bird, Rolfe/Earl and walkarounds of the main 5 RAE crew:

Ah, yeah, I never counted the KenChuck E. Derby or that old CEC TV intro. It's really nicely done.

Harmony was asking for photos of the last two PVCs to be sold IN a CEC Location. I do not have pix myself...but i do have the figures.

This photo from our friend Mech IS INDEED one of them- 'Rollerblading Chuck small version"

The other one in this set look VERY much like this one, but is dressed in similar colored hockey gear and is holding a stick. He is also on a blue base.

Both of these were quite small when compared to the earlier PVC editions.

For those wanting to know...!

I guess it looks like the 2001 Skateboard Chuck is the very last of the 2 1/3 inch pvc figures then. Sadness! I wish they would have at least made a few more since then. Maybe one of Pepperoni, Larry the Technician or other characters.

Aww, I realize that Derby one doesnt have any Chuck E characters. Ok scratch that one. But that early 90's CEC tv intro is pretty sweet...I wish they could have done more like that.

Im curious what *your* personal favorite Showtape vhs/dvd skits are?
I kind of dig most the modern(post millennial) puppet sketches, like "Super Jasper", Pizza Survivor is one of my favorites.

Im just curious if CEC Ent will ever come out with another print comic/zine or *something* cool and new. Like new pvcs, etc.

This post is to Jenn, and any other PTT fans...

It really is striking after looking at internal company illustrations just HOW central to the Pizza Time Players that Dolli Dimples was.

In fact she is in virtually every depiction of the main gang as extremely central:

And then I gazed upon this, which would have made such a great Pizza Time Theater poster! This is some of the art the PTT era figurines were based off of:

And we get wonderful illustrations of:

CEC
Harmony Howlette
Dolli Dimples
The King
Munch
Pasqually
Artie Antlers
Madame Oink
and one of the Beagles

All this leads me to speculate that there had to have been at least discussion or schematic drawings of a Dolli and King(and maybe Harmony and Artie) pvc figurines...if *not* actual prototypes of these.
(As well as other merchandise we've yet to seen)
