Hello Everyone, I just wanted to say thanks for letting me in to your exclusive club of RAE, PTT, and CEC fandom. I was a huge fan of PTT when I was a little boy (29 now), and when Showbiz Pizza came to town I was hooked. I loved the showroom, and would run back from playing that game where you tried to put the ball in the frogs mouth to the front of the stage everytime the RAE would play. I was lucky enough to have my 5th birthday there, and is still one of my favorite childhood memorys. Soon after, PTT was gone, and they merged Showbiz with CEC. I stayed away from there for a while, but when I had my first son, it was an excuse to go see what I had missed since my childhood. They had converted the show in my town to a studio C, so I drove my family 40 miles to see the Munch Make Believe Band, all while my son was 6 months old! So I guess you can say I'm hooked. I can't wait until June 18th to drive up to San Fran to go see the RAE movie! Anyways, just wanted to say hi, and that it's good to know that people out there are keeping the legacy alive.

Good to see other PTT fans from California. Im hoping to go to the San Francisco RAE premiere(Im an hour and a half from there), tho I just saw it at the LA premiere. Its truly a special movie.
That rocks they had a Showbiz where you were. I hear they were super rare here in California. I luckily had one from 1984-1988 near me.

Welcome to the boards! You'll find we're a good bunch and there's quite a few of us all around the same ages too that have similar memories. I grew up more of a PTT kid, but that's only because it was closer to my house and the one Showbiz in town closed before the merger. But after rediscovering all this again, I'm really regretting not going to Showbiz more often. But that's what YouTube and this site are for! Screwing with your memories so you can "kinda remember" ;)
You'll find MechaCory is a huge fan of the RAE and PTT, so don't be surprised if he PM's you pretty soon and the fact you're a local...
Make sure you check out the video archive this site has, boy will that take ya back!

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. Reading MechaCory's post, I didn't realize that Showbiz Locations were more rare out here in Cali, I thought all the major cities had one (wouldn't explain why Fresno did lol). My goodness! I guess I took for granted having both a PTT and Showbiz at the same time in the same city! I do wish my son's could have experienced either one, I'm a CEC fan, but nowadays, they do not compare to the excitement that one of those restraunts brought. I remember the show was the reason to go, not to watch cartoons and having the Studio C Chuck always moving in the background with no curtains to hide him when he was not in use. I know there about cutting costs, but to me that takes the magic away from the show. Heck you're lucky if you can even hear the show in the first place! But I really can't wait until next week in San Fran... (Still pending my vacation day approval lol) It will be great to go see the movie and be taken back to my childhood, if only for a few hours.

I SO wish I could have made it to the San Francisco screening, but alas it just wasn't possible. So definitely let us know how it was! It would have rocked to have met you and fellow fans!
Yeah I had no idea of the scarcity of Showbiz' on the West Coast. While I was more of a fan of PTT/80's Chuck E Cheese, I mostly went to Showbiz growing up. I actually didnt know they had started as rival companies, as I always thought they were two brands of the same company.
I WISH I had gotten to go to the local PTT's and others in California.
But knowing how rare Showbiz was, Im glad I got to go a ton of times.
It is pretty clear that the modern CEC's have nary any of the magic of 80's CEC. (tho some PTT styled CEC's lasted until the later 1990's in some parts of the US) They are all the same looking, bright, etc. Least they still have that thick pizza smell thats wafted through every Showbiz/PTT/CEC Ive been to since I was little! (a lot of CEC have kept the PTT era red entrance/doors) It does suck kids today will never be able to appreciate the magic of the dark roomed cabaret styled old days(sadly the last 80's era CEC was tore down a year ago from what I heard)
Anyways, very cool to hear your thoughts and passions!
