Hey! I know this has been posted before, probably several times, but since I'm new, I'd like to know which CEC's/ SPP's you've been to.:D

Here's my list:

1. Chuck E. Cheese's Pizza/ Pizza Time Theatre in the Elmbrook Plaza in Brookfield, WI (had a one-stage MMBB, closed in 1997 to become a dollar store)
2. Chuck E. Cheese's on Bluemound Rd. Brookfield, WI (Studio C Alpha/ present day home of CEC's mentioned above)

Anybody know when the Fielder store in Arlington, TX opened? I'm guessing early 80's. At one point it had the balcony show, and then the Rocker Show, and now a 2 stage with the half-bodies bots made into full body bots.

I know Corporata bought it in the early 90's. it's a small store. 1 floor. it currently has a 2-stage show,(and from what i've heard ONE of the best ones out there. The store on Tully Rd is the larger of the two being 3-stories. BTW due to an attack on ezboard that wiped out a bunch of old posts I did some "fall cleaning" & the post you mentioned may have been deleted due to the fact that replies were not salvageable. If you can find the pics please repost & i'll be happy to ID the store for you as i've been to both.

MMBBfan327, to answer your question from earlier, the LaCrosse CEC is tiny. It's one of the smallest CEC's I've been to. I visited a few years back, and when I saw that it had a three-stage I was confused thinking it was a new stage design, not realizing until after I left that it used to be a Showbiz. It was a decent location.

My favorite Location? Probably the same as MMBBfan327...the old Elmbrook Plaza location was one of my faves! One of my friends lived directly across the street from it, and we used to walk over there and play for a while.

If not the old Elmbrook location, the West Allis Hwy 100 location...so many birthday memories there.

There's been two Chuck E Cheeses I've been to. One was in Rockwall Texas, and the other was in Garland Texas.

I used to go to the Garland location when it was Showbiz Pizza. The place has been around since the early 1980s.

I remember driving past the place as a kid, and my parents would exit from the highway and drive down the parking lot to the place and on the left would be a Target store. And then my parents and I would walk to the restaurant and open the doors and I'd look to see if the Rock-afire Explosion were out, either the middle stage or Billy Bob's stage, or Rolfe's stage, and if not, then no biggie. Then we'd go up and order food and drinks and I would get some tokens and we would go find a table in the showroom to sit at. and I would go play some games, looking over sometimes to see if the curtians were open.

And I'd play skeetball, go ride the ride where you sit on one of three Billy Bobs and go around in a circle, or I might go into the play pin area with the plastic balls and climb up to get to the slide and slide down it. and I'd run to the stages when I saw Fatz and the gang out singing some songs. And then I'd go to the machine and put a token in and watch the machine blow up a balloon for me to have. And of course, I'd go eat some pizza too.

Now those were the days.

as far as I know the Chuck in non functional now. the reason the store is so huge is prior to being a CEC/PTT it was a toy store.

Argh! These private collectors! How do they do it? I tried to purchase my old store's bots, and instead they tell me they were being sold to a store in Cali, and the next day I find the bots at the bottom of our dumpster in pieces!!! >: I wish I had money...and some way to get some bots of my own!

Oh yeah...if any of you guys have a 3 stage Chuck or Munch you really don't want,(or any bot for that matter) feel free to drop me a line. I'd be glad to help you out and take it off your hands! ;)

i get that you want a bot, and i wish i had an extra one laying around for ya, but you gotta see the legistical side of it...

what if a bot got in the wrong hands and the did bad things with it??? thats why they have to be destroyed im sure.

we went back into the old bridgeville store after it moved and they didnt bother taking the bots down and throw them away, they just sledgehammered them!! and it was quite traumatizing to see - that was the cec i went to when i was little and started as a cm at!!

Hell if my local store EVER gets Studio C I will make certain a horrible fate like that doesn't happen to that show. I worked w/ my local 2 stage for 2.5 years and if they ever get Studio C I will handcuff myself to the stage to prevent it's destruction so if the bots go....I'M GOING W/ THEM!

Trust me, I put up a big stink...it doesn't work. All I can say is, that if I ever find a way to get up there in corporate (look out Duncan Brennan! I'm gonna take your job one day! ;) ), I'm gonna do what I can to get some of those bots sitting in a warehouse or at a store they're either gonna tear down or remodel.
There's NO WAY I'd let anybody do anything wrong with the bots if I had them! You guys ever heard of private collectors? Of course you have! Mine and no one else's to mess with! (except for you other fans, of course!)

Ha! I can't speak about the old board, but I can say that on the new forum... look at the word g-r-a-p-e, subtract the first letter, and that's in our censored list. We've got a much more complicated word filter now, so it's very sensitive.

as far as i know that's all the cecs there are in mn. :P

yes, the west st paul location has a studio c alpha that has three screens. it also has the tv facade around all 3 tvs.

the edina one is the 2 story one. their skytubes are on the second floor. there is no center to the second floor (you can see down to the first floor). so the skytubes are 36ft in the air! once upon a time there was a spiral slide that went all the way down to the bottom! but it was too difficult to repair. they are phase 3 with an alpha. until 2007 they were one of only two stores in the country (that i know of) that had fireball. (laguna hills is now the only one). Edina now has alleyroller classic. and just because i know a certain someone who is going to ask (lol), yes, their curtains are working.

Laguna Hills may be the only store NOW that has Fireball, but the Panama City CEC also had Fireball up until it closed last year.

I might be going up to Minnesota later this year, so I might just have to check out Edina and West Saint Paul! Of course, if I do, I will get pics!

Where are you getting your store numbers? All those AZ stores are franchised owned, so they have to be four digits long. I worked at Scottsdale (Indian Bend) for 4 years and its store number was always 3211.

i dont know when it did. but it definitely is. you can feel the different vibe when you go to that store than the others ones in the area. slight things like kid check having the red rope. at the other phoenix stores they have those little "baby gate" things that block babies (or dogs?) from leaving a room. the receipts also look different. if you look at the cash register screen, corp stores have different software than franchises. also the business hours were a dead giveaway. so i dont know when it became corporate, but it is.

it will be a while before you get to go dumpster diving. they are already phase 4. and i was told they had to keep their 3 stage because it was the only one in the area. the stage wasnt really in good shape. but i do think it is able to be saved if they would spend some time and money on it. which they probably wont.

thats what i thought too! i was wondering why they were 3 digits.
i get all of my store numbers from receipts. when receipts dont provide the number, i get them from the chuckecheese.com website.

i was in az from wed thru yesterday. i didnt know u lived there. i dont pay much attention to that kind of stuff i guess. also my trips are usually last minute. and there is no real schedule of which cec i will go to first. its just kinda where i happen to be, what time it is, and how tired i am. the cec i went to before that one was gonna be the last one for the day but then when i was on the freeway i changed my mind and went to scottsdale also. it probably wouldnt have been enough notice for you anyway. it was like at 9pm when i went. maybe next time?

Back in the PTT days, the only CEC I went to was the one in Pearl City, Hawaii. They had the balcony stage.

Post-CU, I've only been to the CEC on Northwest Expressway here in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. I've driven by the other two Oklahoma locations numerous times, but never went in. I've also driven by a handful of Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas locations, but never went in those.

Though at the end of the month, I'm going to the CEC "Redbird" location in Dallas, as that's the last 3-stage I know of in the Oklahoma/Texas area. I just can't get into this Studio-C thing that's encompassed all the other stores in this region. =\

Oddly enough, you just listed the ONLY CEC's Ive never been to. With the exception of those listed and a couple of CEC's down near the Mexican border, I've been to pretty much every single one(and most the ones in Nevada)

I have to say my favorite CEC locations are the Fairfield CA one and the huge San Jose one. Most California CEC locations however pretty much all look identicle.

Now you're right. When I travel with people down 101 to southern california, I literally see over a dozen CEC stores right off the freeway.

Im wondering if any of the Pizza Time Theaters/Chuck E Cheese's I visited in California between 1981 and 1989 still exist in some form. The Oceanside one actually looks kind of similar to this day, but many I think were demolished or remodeled to the point where they are unrecognizable.

The ultimate Pizza Time Theater style Chuck E Cheese I recall was the one here in Sacramento from 1982-1993(or at least the biggest I had been to)

LaMirada was decent. The show was in okay condition....except a few of Chuck's movements were out. All 3 stores are phase 4ed now. I really hate seeing that going to every CEC...I miss the older look. They're all so bright, all have tiny skytubes, and ugh...I'm just sick of it.

Thanks for the definition. Now I know what to look for. That leads me into another question...on a 2-stage are all the characters old half-bodied cyberamics that have been upgraded to full bodied or are they new mechs entirely? They don't seem to have any more appreciable movements than the old ones, but there are some differences (like Munch's and Pasqually's up and down arm movements).

I thought Road Shows were just conversions of the Balcony stage bots with slightly updated cosmetics? hmmm...

Also I dont understand what people mean by 2 stage. I get that 3 stage simply means RAE retrofits when concept unification happened(with the addition of Pizzacam and other random newer prop characters)
But what is a 2 stage? Ive only seen Munch Make Believe Band setups, a couple "road stages" and the various Studio C's.

2 stage is a Munch band show...the reason it's called a 2 stage is because there are technically two sets of stages...Chuck with his curtains, the tv separating him and then the bands stage. The bots are all full-bodied cyberamic bots on a 2 stage. A 1 stage is similar, still the cyber bots, all full bodied, but no tv separating the characters. Instead, Chuck used to have a turntable for live shows. A road stage is exactly the same type setup as a 2 stage, but half-bodied characters except for Chuck.

im not sure about at the moment, but its usually the worst studio c ive ever seen. 3 stages work better than this alpha. in its defense it was one of the first to get it. but still its horrible!

As of 06/21/2010 - Updated List (132 CECs) and Some Notes:
-Laguna Hilla, CA is now a corporate store. Fireball has been replaced with Alley Roller Classic, the Build a Bear kiosk is gone, for now the lunch buffet and SPP pizza ingredients will still be used. Unfortunately the really cool prizes (electric guitars, motorized razor scooters, etc) are gone and have been replaced with corporate prizes. The system for saving tickets on a special CEC Ticket Card (that I believe was made only for this location) has been discontinued and replaced with standard Ticket Muncher receipts.
-Scottsdale, AZ location was closed.
-Goodyear, AZ location was opened and visited. For some reason they were given Skeeball 2.
-Pinole, CA location was opened and visited. Only location I have seen to offer a Splenda sweetened ice cream bar in the vending machine.
-I don't know where I got 3 digit store numbers for AZ stores, but I have updated my list to what I believe are the correct franchise store numbers.

As of 09/16/2010 - Updated List (135 CECs) and Some Notes:
-Redding and Chico are owned by the same franchisee. Weird store hours for both. Cool old games. Chico has a Super Mario pinball machine and Memory Match! And the Chico building has a cool old-time ptt look to it (the layout of the building itself, not the upkeep. it has been well maintained, cleaned, repainted, etc). I was told Chico might be getting phase 4 and new games. It currently has mostly a phase 2 look. i thought it was kind of funny that the two large tvs that used to be placed in the wall (one on each side of the stage) had been replaced with Must C Tv posters lol. i guess its better than the AZ franchise locations where the tvs were replaced with "all games are 1 token" posters lol. (When is CEC going to hire me as a Quality Analyst or Mystery Shopper? lol). As always, I have pictures of every store ive visited and a completed survey of each visit that will be posted one day (ya, i know, its been 5 years ive been saying that now lol).

El Centro is the last store I need and then I will have completed California! When I go there I will also hit up Yuma and Tuscon most likely so I can also complete Arizona! Nevada, I'm looking right at you! :P

Maybe the person who was talking to the manager didn't know Simi Valley had been closed down? Wouldn't Dept 18 know based on which dvd version they send out? Or do they all somehow run off the existing stage shows now?

well...the remodel in Rockford happened well after Simi Valley's closing...and all existing stages run off of the dvd players now...I'm guessing things are pretty much the same at a store, regardless of it being a Rocker, Road, 2-stage, or whatever.

I'm only interested in going to 3 stages, or at least anything with the band. I spent hours calling up CECs in the "nearby area" to make sure I wasn't going to walk in to a Studio C. The sad thing is that most of the employees didn't know what I was asking about.
I love to see the band from my youth, in good working order. Studio C's are an atrocisity. I really wish I could go see a Rock-afire Explosion somewhere, but I doubt that will happen. I've asked Chris via email and he's never responded.

all of the above. i take pictures of everything! and i document: the show type, showtape playing, non-working movements, number of tvs and type of each, modifications to the show design, placement of the showroom in the store, all games, non-working games, food taste, food temperature, time from ordering to serving, any missing items or inaccuracies of order, beverage bar, salad bar, placement of salad bar in the store, merch counter, order counter, menu, menu prices, menu items served, on-time performance of a live show, types of ticket munchers used, external signage and phase design, internal artwork and phase design, use of tokens or cards, use of tickets or cards, time and date of visit, length of visit, amount spent, tokens purchased, tickets earned, presence of security cameras or personnel, type of kid check entrance (rope, sliding divider, swinging door, etc), type of kid check tracking (stamps, photographs, etc), among many other factors. but ill stop here because now i sound obsessed. oh wait, we all are. lol. :P. lets just say that i notice ANY SINGLE DIFFERENCE from one store to another and document it. all the way down to which hand dryer model they use (or paper towels, or both). LOL.

all of the above. i take pictures of everything! and i document: the show type, showtape playing, non-working movements, number of tvs and type of each, modifications to the show design, placement of the showroom in the store, all games, non-working games, food taste, food temperature, time from ordering to serving, any missing items or inaccuracies of order, beverage bar, salad bar, placement of salad bar in the store, merch counter, order counter, menu, menu prices, menu items served, on-time performance of a live show, types of ticket munchers used, external signage and phase design, internal artwork and phase design, use of tokens or cards, use of tickets or cards, time and date of visit, length of visit, amount spent, tokens purchased, tickets earned, presence of security cameras or personnel, type of kid check entrance (rope, sliding divider, swinging door, etc), type of kid check tracking (stamps, photographs, etc), among many other factors. but ill stop here because now i sound obsessed. oh wait, we all are. lol. :P. lets just say that i notice ANY SINGLE DIFFERENCE from one store to another and document it. all the way down to which hand dryer model they use (or paper towels, or both). LOL.

But... I just care about one thing when I check out a CEC, new or old: When I open the red entrance doors, does the smell of parmesan cheese and pizza smack me in the face as I remember it at PTT/CEC and SPP in the 80's?
Some do, some don't. I do like a good or unique layout. Even the smallest little CEC I can find delightful. Also I can't STAND cards, another reason I don't like most modern arcades. I'd say the coolest/favorite CEC's I've visited(for my own oddball reasons) are Ventura California, Oceanside California, Newark California, Las Vegas NV, Fairfield CA, the big San Jose one, Thousand Oaks California, Salinas California, and my hometown Sacramento CA one. Still kicking myself for having never gotten to check out the old school styledCEC in Simi Valley that lasted til 2008.

I did it once last summer on my way to Southern California. Was kind of nice seeing all the different ones down the coast in California, though also nervewracking to manage time trying to see so many. Plus some CEC's in southern california are not in areas where I feel safe at all checking out. I find it funner to randomly come across a CEC when you dont expect it, like on vacation or something.

But yeah, I have so many main core hobbies/loves(retro gaming, muppets/jim henson, nerd conventions, indie/foreign film, sonic the hedgehog/nintendo/sega merchandise, animation, indie and electronic music, etc) that devoting even a 20th the time folks do to CEC would be out of possibility for me. It was very nice rekindling my love of all things PTT/CEC/SPP last year, and I feel grateful I was the perfect age to have enjoyed PTT and Showbiz/RAE at their height.


Ha if i get back over to Cali next year, I will definitely have to hit up a number of other stores out there...and I would love to see what they're doing in Fairfield. Glad to hear that 2 stage is getting some love!

Eh, you sooo woulda loved the Fairfield store until 2000. Was VERY Pizza Time Theater like in a lot of ways. My Sacramento one was 100% PTT styled until spring of 1993. Im still curious as to how many CEC's were PTT or 80's styled up until the late 1990's, and if any were like that after 2000.

I'm only interested in going to 3 stages, or at least anything with the band. I spent hours calling up CECs in the "nearby area" to make sure I wasn't going to walk in to a Studio C. The sad thing is that most of the employees didn't know what I was asking about.
I love to see the band from my youth, in good working order. Studio C's are an atrocisity. I really wish I could go see a Rock-afire Explosion somewhere, but I doubt that will happen. I've asked Chris via email and he's never responded.

Heh, sadly not even 30-40 manager types at CEC seem to have the foggiest clue or rememberence of Pizza Time Theater or Showbiz Pizza Place. Heck I wonder if people at corporate even do :) Also given all I saw was 1 stage Munch Make Believe Band's in the 90's to present, I love running across Studio C Alphas.

i know 99.999999% of people will never see nearly as many stores as i have, so i kinda felt like it was important for me to collect data for the fans.
personally i just think it's cool finding something new. you guys would love the 3stage-turned-studio c alpha in st paul, for example. just because it's so unique.
