I 'm not sure if it happens all the time. But last year this location was closed due to someone throwing something through the window causing a fire. oh and on top of that this store was just open a year in January. Also this is the location down the street from Major Magics that's up for sale... :eek

LOL
This is so funny to me because at the CEC I use to work at over here in Torrace, CA.... GHETTO @$$ store, there were fights ALL THE TIME. Man, I could tell you some stories.
The last one I heard about was about 3 weeks ago on a Saturday, there was basically a "riot" where EVERYONE IN THE ENTIRE STORE was fighting from one side of the gameroom to the other into the showroom. An employee described it to me. They said that after they got everyone out, they closed the store at 3PM that Saturday. And they HAD security.
Get all the CEC's OUT OF THE GHETTO!!

:eek Holy crap are you serious?!?!??! Wow, just wow... Yeah and I remember hearing a couple years back that the Brookfield store on Bluemound (which houses the very 2nd Studio C Alpha show :hat ) had Police "stop by" over 40 times. That is ridiculous, and should not even be happening!!

I wonder how widespread this really is... I'd love to say that out my way we have no 'Ghetto' Cheese's but then I have to think back to the Aurora, CO store. That's where the locally famous CEC shooting took place about a decade ago, and also some dude was tasered for stealing from the salad bar about a year or two ago. :o
Most of them are pretty peaceful though from my experiences. I would be afraid to go to someplace that has to call the police once a day. Does CEC intentionally open these stores in troubled spots or were these once nice locations that eventually turned sour? I know the above mentioned Aurora store was like ShowBiz #10 and has been there since 81, so we're talking years of change.
And I do still laugh everytime I hear about the Harlem CEC thoughts. :rollin

I wish I knew what it was that attracted the lower class, ghetto people to CEC. I guess they're having children at a record pace, but still the 'ghetto' people are typically lower class/poor so I wonder how they can afford it. 4:00 is the ghetto hour for us. These people just don't know how to act in public and has long been the number one factor that makes me want to move on.

Yes. :( They're were opened in the nice "new" areas but they never have relocated(until lately). Many of the original store are just stuck in the wrong neighborhoods now... I'm sure some of these new stores will be in troubled areas down the line if CEC's still in business 20 years from now. :x

Pfft, you can say that again!!! West Allis was in a really nice spot, but over the years I've noticed more and more ghetto coming into the enviornment. Same goes with Chase. Chase was a beautiful store, actually one of the first PTT in Wisconsin (if not the 1st). Now the building's all crapped out, and the people are crapped out of their heads. Why would you even think of chucking napkin holders and pizza pans at other people???

Lucky you!
I have to stop fights WEEKLY at my store here in Lakeland, and our location isn't really in a 'ghetto' area, we just get tons of ghetto people, because we're the only CEC in our county, and the only one for about 50 miles in all directions.
Just the other day, I had to get in the middle of this lady and this guy who were slapping each other over the use of the sketchbook. The lady had taken like 15 pictures already, and the guy told her to move on, and when she didn;t, he sat down and tried to push her out of the Sketchbook. Next thing you know, they are slapping each other! I jumped in and broke it up, but this kind of crap happens ALL THE TIME! :rolleyes It really makes me hate people.

Haha at my stores, hardly anyone uses the Sketchbook!

Yeah, but Sketchbook has been at those locations forever, and you guys have the cool new games like Mad Wave Motion Theater, and that big Roller Coaster ride...I've noticed that locations that have these, have indeed taken some popularity away from some of the older 'big' attractions like Sketchbook or Tsumo.

I really wish that Sketchbook did more than just draw a picture of posing guests while talking with Chuck's voice...it would have been nice if it was also programmed to draw in Chuck E and pals either within the picture or as part of the surrounding frame, sort of like those magic photo deals at Disney where the characters are digitally inserted into portraits at some attractions.

Actually, That Site Has The Wrong Info.
3 Teenage Girls, One of Them 18, 2 Others Minors, Beat Up A Woman and A Supervisor Because The Woman Asked If The Girls Could Hurry Up. After Awhile, She Got A Supervisor. When The Girls Saw The Woman With The Supervisor, The Girls Beat Them Up. Reportedly, The Woman Said The 3 Girls Hit First.
All 3 Girls, Not Just The 2 Minors, Were Brought Into their Parents' Custody.

"Ghetto Day" in Danvers has always been Sunday afternoons and evenings. We have a heavy minority communtiy located in Salem and Lynn, and they love to come out in droves to CEC after Sunday Brunch and Church services! Manager's used to dread closing on Sundays as the Showroom and GR would tend to get trashed and there would sometimes be problems with the more "polite" Guests.
Hearing about the two women fighting over a soft CEC Hammer from merch in the Showroom was hilarious...and sad all at once! People, it's a FRICKIN' CEC HAMMER for craps' sake!! GET OVER IT!
Geez!!!
I know all about "Ghetto" stores.....our District's was the imfamous West Roxbury CEC that was finally closed back in 2001 or so. I could tell you horror stories about that place...none of the Tech's in our area wanted to go there! The place was a absolute HELL HOLE! I was glad to get word of the Company closing the joint, as man it was VERY bad and not the type of place you would want to bring your kids...even if you were used to that sort of "enviroment"!
This store has so many issues. Every weekend they would have to hire a policeman to stand around during operating hours just to keep things at some sort of sanity level. A large majority of the games were literally beaten into the ground and barely functioning at times...stories from Tech's would make your eyebrows curl. Theft ran rampant, and the games suffered heavily for it. Broken cabinets and glass was also common.
The W. Roxbury location opened in the mid-80's after PTT went under. It used to be in a nice area, but over time it was enveloped into the not-so-nice area that it is currently. It was THE absolute ghetto of ghetto stores from what i have gathered from hearing the tales from those who were there and witnessed some of the mania. They could not keep any employees or Techs there for length of time, so our District had to rotate Techs we had in other stores to visit to work on the games and other problems. Nobody wanted to go there!! It was so very sad in a way...as it's a shame to see a decent CEC store literally go down the toilet. The last couple of weeks the place looked like a bomb had went off inside.
All the eccentric and crazed clientel you could think of visited and torn the place apart. I'm talking about gang member from Boston, ghetto attitude adults and their missbehaving offspring, and the to-hell-wit-it Joe Averages who did'nt give a Rats' Butt. Conbine all of this with a building that was run down and in desperate need of having some money re-invested in it in ALL AREAS and you have W. Roxbury!
And i have not even started to tell you about what the SHOW looked like!!
:x :x :x :x
Today, W.Roxbury is long gone, and was slammed primarily because the Company opened a all new CEC location in the general area: Everett!! Today, Everett is famous for being our local "Ghetto Store" and yes, it lives up to that name rather well...but at least the place is not as totally trashed and worn out as it' previous crown-holder was!
Everett can get pretty unruly at times....usually Friday nights and weekends. The place is packed, and again, Everett and the surrounding towns in itself has a 80% minority communtiy. They LOVE to party!! It's great really, and most of the Guests are in good spirits and want to come and have a good time....but unfortunately there are also others that want to act like jerks and make a scene.
Well at least no one has died there yet....or been gunned down...but the way things are going in that area, i am sure it is not too far off in the future really. Sad but true.

Oh sure.....all sorts of crazy crap has gone on over the years. Usually what happens is the family is paid off to keep quiet in some cases, so the Company does'nt have to risk any possible "bad press".
I'm sure if you do some digging, you will come across some of the stories that have been talked about, and maybe some links to recent happenings.
