View Full Version : The Official 'VOTE For The Location of CV6' Thread!

Hi Everyone!

Well here it is...the thread you have been waiting for!

Here is where YOU...yes YOU, the humble Showbiz Pizza and Chuck E. Cheese's Fan can VOTE for where you would like our annual Fan Convention to be held!

Now what i mean by 'location' is NOT a CEC Store Location! NO! We mean a CITY/STATE where you think it's about time we held a CV.

The following list of choices was nominated by the Fans over the past month as canidates for possible CV Locations for 2009. I have chosen the ones that may be of the most interest, and also or more likely to actually be 'do-able'. Having a CV at your local bowling alley in downtown PA is not really what we are looking for as a site of a Fan Convention....so....

The rules now:

Every Member of ShowbizPizza.Com is welcome to vote for where they would like to see CV6 this year. Even if you are not attending, Members are still welcome to vote!

Please keep in mind that you may ONLY VOTE ONCE however. No multiple votes by the same poster...as that would just be uncool.

Also please note, that whatever the final choice may be that wins the vote, in the end it may not end up actually being the location for a number of factors. What i mean is, if the 'Voted-In Location' turns out to be a nightmare to make travel arrangments, overly expensive for the majority of planned attendees, or a lack of organization come to light, the runner-up in the vote may be considered in it's place. There is a LOT that goes into pulling off a CV.... most people are completely unaware of what is involved. If the Voted-In Location fails to meet up to even the most basic needs and criteria, we will have to make a alternative choice.

Relax people.....it WILL NOT, i repeat, NOT be back in MA anytime soon! Sorry J......i had to say it.....

Okay, enought talk....time to extend your God-given right to do the American thing: VOTE!!!

Here are the CV6 Nominees:

New York City area
New Jersey area
Chicago, IL area
New Orleans area
Atlanta/Columbus, GA area
Seattle, WA area
Southern CA area
San Antonio, TX area

One thing i forgot to mention in my previous post.....

VOTING will take place up until February 28th....plenty of time for everyone to V.I.C ( Vote In CV!)

I know it wasnt going to be back in Mass. Gee, that makes it sound like I dictate! (well come to think of it, I guess you and I do just that Jenn!:)))
Im sorry gang, Im not that mean! I know that folks around the country want CV in their back yard(as do I) but unfortunatly I just dont have the cash to attend out of state CV's, that doesnt mean that the fan community cant enjoy the event even though I cant be there. I vote for NYC, but I know where ever it is, it will be a wonderful event.

Awesome start to the voting folks! Thanks to everyone who were among the first to cast their vote! This i think will be a entertaining couple of weeks...

If we have the CV in the midwest, I vote that there be a stop at David's house since he has probably the best working RAE in the midwest :)

Well, this election is deffinately an interesting one... Some pretty clear leaders in the results tabulated so far... Will there need to be a "Run Off" election should we have a tie? We won't know until all the votes are in and I see that Many of our regular contributers have yet to register their pick in the voting. (Are all of you waiting until the last minute so you can vote for the underdog and bring them to the top??? This is a great strategy, and one I am choosing for myself!)

One interesting observation though about the 30 votes already cast in this decision...

Almost everyone is picking their hometown or a nearby location. Doesn't anybody want to travel? Or need a vacation? I had anticipated seeing a large amount of votes committed to locations like California or New York as people would want to travel to those tourist havens, but I can understand if you just want to stay 'nearby' for the next event.

With over 100 active members I hope that the result totals get higher soon!!!

What I suggest is a second round to decide between Chicago and LA. Thre's alot of people who's second choices are one of those two, because they're first choice will probably not be done.

Yeah I'm a bit dissapointed with the whole proximity voting but to each their own I guess. Myself I'm looking at this as a vacation. It's not going to be anywhere near me so since traveling is a must, I'm voting on where I'd most like to visit and experience.

I'm waiting for the 11th hour to cast my vote. ;)

I voted for the Chicago area even though San Antonio's on the list, I've lived here long enough to know there isn't much to see here except for 5 boring Chuck's where as at least in Chicago there's more touristy stuff to see and I've never been there... :-?

I voted for Chicago. No, it's not because it's the closest location to me (although it is, in full disclosure). The reason I voted for Chicago was because I asked myelf "Where is somewhere a CV hasn't been held?" (the Midwest) and "Out of the locations listed, which has a lot of unique things for both CECers and RAE people?" I resent the fact that the thought is that it's out of laziness or just wanting something close.

You also have to realize that the lagging economy may encourage folks to stay closer to home.

RTR has a point. I, being in my adolescent stage, do not have much of the ability to travel far a distance at all. (David will verify my cheapness ;)) However, the midwest is a pretty good spot and it is no where near the spots CV has been in before. That's more of the reason why I voted for it rather than it being close to home. In my opinion, it should really matter why one votes for one spot or another. Just vote and whichever wins, wins. If you can't make it, wait till next time. That's my two cents anyhow.

Just to clarify, I'm not trying to dog everyone for wanting it close to them (we have this debate every single year quite frankly), and it always goes back to the same thing. LOL

I know money's tight, especially now with the crappy economy. These trips can get quite expensive with airfare and lodging and all that (trust me, I've sank several thousand dollars into this stuff over the past decade). So I really do sympathize on that part. I'm thinking that this is going to be my one and only "vacation" this year because, with the economy situaton, I've have a few credit demons I have to settle up with....

But I think the voting list is pretty solid - any one of these locations should make for a good event. I'm holding out hope that some people are still willing to venture out in the event that the voting doesn't end up placing CV in a location close to them.

Makes sense to me.

All of those loose votes will probably not win, so some people will now want to rely on their second choice.

Chicago does have plenty to offer, including a number of CEC's, as well as one of the best Six Flags parks and Rockford's CEC not too far away. Also, Odyssey Fun World too...

Just to point out the obvious:

Also please note, that whatever the final choice may be that wins the vote, in the end it may not end up actually being the location...

I voted for Chicago, for a lot of reasons:

Plenty of CEC's in that area.
Plenty of tourist attractions, like Sears Tower.
Some non-CEC locations like Odyssey Fun World and Enchanted Castle.
And there are a lot of forum members in the Chicago area that own RAE shows.

All that combined, sounds like a good CV6 to me.

I voted for the Chicago area, simply because there are plenty of locations there and it's closest of the options to where I live.

May the best city win!

I have to point out that all the above are great reasons...but i would not list Odyssey Fun World as a 'attraction' for RAE fans. Of the two times i have visited both locations in previous IL visits over the past two years, i have yet to have seen either of those shows move! Okay, maybe ONE show moved for about 2 minutes ( barely..it was in such bad condition..) after the 'tech' spent 20 mins trying to get it running after we requested a show. It never moved again after the brief TiVo intro....what a dissapointment.

And that is my point: Do not get your hopes up about either of those places. Unless they have repaired the Shows, it is not worth the time unless one wants to leave the place dissapointed.

So just take Odyssey Fun World with a large boulder of salt. The New RAE shows there just hold no real attraction since neither of them seem to be operational.

Now the Enchanted Castle on the other hand...that place is AWESOME!! I highly recommend this place, even thought they do not have a RAE show. The Sally Corp AA show they DO have is cool in it's own right...

Just some views.

However, still, Aren't you the one thats very fond of old technological 'non-running' crap?

I don't consider a New RAE style show to be 'old technology'......it is supposed to be NEW remember? If it WAS 'old tech' ( like the original Classic Show is classed....) those shows would probably RUN!

:))

ehhhh... New? Well it runs off an Apple IIe if thats new enough for you :-P

Granted your right that the bots at least are newer in design. As a great friend of mine has told me time and time again. DONT USE SERVOS! I am fastly seeing the reason behind that. They must constantly be replaced...

Anyhow.

I still love seeing that show for historical purposes in my own eye. Its neat to see how they are sized up in person and make comparisons to the old show. Pretty cool stuff...

To date, i have yet to..... thanks Odd-Fun World! X-(

Well folks, it looks like we are getting down to the last week now of voting. Call me a Looney Bird, but it looks to me like we have ourselves a battle between IL and CA for the CV6 crown!

Who will be the Big Cheese? Have YOU voted yet? I have'nt......purposely won't as i would rather ya'all decide on this.

YoungCaliHottie

its too bad it shows the current results. i think that affects what people vote for. it would probably have been a more honest vote from each person if it didnt show anything until the end. people might think "why vote for abc city? theres only 1 vote. that would be a waste"

With only 2 days left, I think I can safely say this one's very likely (barring a sudden vote surge) going to be in the Chicago area! :)

Details about my plans coming as soon as the poll closes and it's official.

Shiney Happy Jenn
02-27-2009, 12:20 PM
A wise person once said - 'It's NOT over until it's OVER'.........so i am making NO conclusions until the poll closes next week.

Rob, i understand what you have touched on. It is a vaild point. Yes, we may have had some folks who voted based on what location was 'winning'. There will always be some people who will base their choice on that decision. Seeing IL get a lot of votes however is no surprise, as folks have been waiting for a Midwestern CV for a few years. I could talk more about the topic of Cv locations, but will refrain from it as i do not want to influence any forthcoming votes.

It's not over yet...some of our regulars have not voted yet, and i am guessing they will be waiting until the very end to cast their vote.

Remember folks, it's not over until it's over!

Ive kept quiet about the vote, and except for my official vote, will continue to do so , till Jenn and I sit down and decide, or should I say tally the votes. Please remember that Jenn posted somewhere that even though there seems to be a big margin as to where to go, we both have final say on location. We want this to be great for everyone....

Is this where I protest about the polls closing early?

The polls closed at 7:06 PM Central Standard time... 50 minutes BEFORE they were scheduled to end. The listing on the poll and in the messages related to the voting stated the end time as 7:56 pm.

The Poll allowed me to vote at 7:00pm. This unfair end of the election has potentially blocked last minute voters from registering their choice. I demand an investigation and a re-opening of the polls to allow those who were denied a vote, a chance to be represented in the choice for CV 6!

I would like to personally thank EVERYONE who took part in our online vote to determine WHERE this years' Officially Un-Official Fan Convention would be!

Chicago it is....

...now we can find out the answer to this burning question:

Is it REALLY a 'toddlin' town' as Frank Sinatra said it was?
