View Full Version : If you could make a 3-stage differently...

what would you do? Like what scenery would you put into place, what characters would you retrofit, etc. Personally, I would have liked to see Chuckie as a retrofitted Uncle Klunk mech with a Studio C Alpha-ish background. Maybe Billy Bob could become Munch on bass? And on piano... retrofitted Fatz... Charlie Rockit? (Yeah, Charlie's been putting on some weight. :lol )

I always wanted to see Chuck share the stage with Billy Bob...not kick him off completely. I know alot of you guys hate Chuck, but he's probably the best guy of all of the characters to use as the concept's icon. I always thought that at CEC's, the Munch Band should have played, and at Showbiz, they keep the Rockafire, but replace Rolfe with Chuck. Chuck could have been the Emcee who would introduce the Band.
Now, for what I want to change on a 3-stage...
I would switch Chuck and Munch around. I always thought that Chuck should be the main focus, and in the Center of the showroom. The central character is the easiest to see. I would change the backgrounds to either a machine motif(similar to Studio C Beta) or to some cool looking Nightclub-type background.

You'd take away Rolfe and little Earle? Animal!!!!!
The Rock-AFire Explosion wouldn't be the same without those two.

It wouldn't be the same without them, but remember Uncle Klunk? Or Liberty? Or even Santa? Rolfe and Earle were meant to be rotating guest stars. They worked, and it was cheaper to keep them, I'm sure. I think losing them for Chuck, yet keeping the rest of the RAE, would have been an acceptable compromise, instead of completely getting rid of Billy Bob and friends.

I don't hate Chuck. I love him. I do not like what they did with the character. I miss the old smart ass rat. I think the merger was the worst thing to happen to both businesses. No one won. Both brands were cheapened. Supposedly bringing CEC and Billy Bob together was the plan. It makes sense to use Rolfe. That's who they used in CU. I think such a transformation would have been easy on the Rock-afire side. Get rid of Rolfe and make him Chuck. So CEC and Billy Bob became the side stages and you keep center stage as is. Now, my question is what do you do with the cybermanic 2 stage show which at that time mostly would have been the porch stage set up. Do you make Helen, Munch, Pasqually and Jasper into Mitzi, Fatz, Dook and Beach Bear? I'm sure that could be done. But what about Billy Bob and Looneybird? You don't have 2 more mechs and the stage space. That's where it gets tricky. In reality the cyberamic computer could not run 2 more characters. You'd basically ahve to take out all the cyberamic characters and retire them and get new Rock-afires at that point. That could have happened I suppose had CEI and corporate had a better relationship at that point. In all reality though, you'd have to get both shows down to 5 characters like they did in CU. The limiting factor here is the cyberamics show. The question then becomes which 5 characters do you keep? Pasqually certainly would have been given the axe. Rolfe is a given. Probably Looneybird too. Chuck is a mouse and Mitzi is a mouse. That points to Helen Henny being the only girl (yuck!) Who do you keep out Jasper and Dook? Both have pretty die hard fans. I think Fatz would win out over Munch.
What about Beach Bear? Well we have Billy Bob. 2 Bears! If you only have 5 characters and you have a deverse lot of animals why have 2 of anything? If we keep Dook we don't want Jasper. We'd have 2 dogs then. So that knocks out Jasper.
So in the end you would likely get:
Chuck E. Cheese
Billy Bob
Helen Henny
Fatz
Dook
I don't know how I feel about that set up. I think in the end we are best off with what happened even though it is a far cry from the glory days of PTT and Showbiz.

here's what I thought would have been cool..have the RAE as they were and place the balcony style PTT players behind them and have then together as one team,so in other words earl and rolf and half body CEC left stage, middle stage dook, berween him and fatz in the back would be half body jasper, fatz between him and mitzi in the back half body helen, mitzi, spider sun and moon and choo choo would still be the same, right stage billy bob loney bird and berween them in the back a half body pasqually, pizza cam and the building and munch jr would cease to exist and I would place curtains in front of the half bodies so the RAE would bethe main "Band" and the PTT players would perform with them (sincet hey don't have instruments, except jasper),I would keep the flags and horns and clappers and warbletts on the walls, and I would keep the PTT caberet acts, mainly the king..but others would pop in here and there..

The problem with this is the computer system to control it. People have come up with hypotheticals for a long time. Anything is/was possible but you have to look at it from a cost perspective. Fun to talk about, yes. But when you want to discuss what could and could not be done realistically that applies a lot of boundries. When you are talking for fun, you can come up with the most spectacular show ever that reviles Disney's Country Bears. Another point to consider... being a person that owns both a Rock-afire and a balcony show that sit basically side by side, they do not look good together. The PTPs are more like large puppets while the RAE are 1000x more realistic. From a visual perspective it would not look good to mix the two types or robots. Also, you have to think about the amount of air such a show would use and the limits of even the biggest and most powerful of air compressors.

That's True. You Can Only Go To A Certain Limit. The Whole RAFE REached The Air/Poer Limit. The PTP Did Not. You Can Add A Few Things, But Not Onto The RAFE. It's A Matter of Budget, and Realistic Thoughts.

Not really. You have to understand about how the PTT computer worked. It had 6 "full characters" originally. They were CEC, Jasper, Munch, Pasqually, Guest and the drums/pots board. There were also some "prop" characters, Warblettes, flags, and clappers. There was a little room for expansion but once the system went to VHS, the character card that ran the board had to be dedicated to that. Therefore there were not really enough movements to make a 6th character. It could have been done rather messily perhaps but you also have to realize that the size that show took up would have made a 6th spot for a character tight in many stores and impossible in some smaller ones even if the stage was totally redone. Air and physical space are not always the only restrictions here.

I'd rather it be a RAE but thats never going to happen. especially since almost all of the Billy Bob robots were destroyed and in Private hands..
"NO SLUGS BACK" give it to another district. Your having that much trouble? put your two cents in for studio C Beta. I mean come on they spent so much for the remodel why not studio c Beta? they can add more games since studio c don't take up as much room as the 3 stage.(i think IDK) I know what's been said before yet it is a new year and you never know strange things can happen. :rollin

CEC 080 (and everybody else for that matter):
If I could figure out what thead to explain it in, I'd post all the sordid details.
To make a long story short, I was out for surgery in October, assured by the DM that I would have a job waiting for me, even though my 30-leave of absence would expire before I would be able to return. He lied and hung me out to dry by promoting my assistant (a good guy; I taught him everything he knows. :) ).
Anyway, I'm still bitter about the way the DM treated me, therefore, moving the store to another district would be fine with me.
I have nothing against 3-stages; in fact they were the most fun I had while I was there.

CEC was just plain cheap about C.U. The RAE mechs could have been retro-fitted a million different ways. They could have made new fiberglass for the mechs and given them any shape they wanted w/o doing any major surgery. Kept Munch thin if they wanted.
I wonder if any little kinds wonder why Munch is big at one store, and small at the other. Who am I kidding, noone even watches the show anymore!

Cheap? Yes!!! But for a good reason. Remember most of those stores were franchise. The Conversion had to be fast and inexpensive in order to make the franchise holders stay with the company. If the conversion was "cost prohibitive" there might be many more independents like BB's Wonderland than there actually were.
One of the main arguments to the store owners for the conversion from the RAE was the cost savings to them for using the company owned PTT characters, rather than having to pay royalties to CEI for the use of their characters.
As for conversion, All I would have done is put the BB guitar on Jasper.
