EPCOT Center's 25th Anniversary Fan Gathering !

Hey gang!

As amazing as it may sound, i actually so have other interests besides CEC....lol..!

One of those interests is all things related to Walt Disney, and the Disney Theme Parks. My favorite Parks' anniversary is coming up this Autumn, and many fans are sad that to date the Disney Company has no plans to do any events in relation to it.

So i was thinking one day......hey, would'nt it be cool if a bunch of us serious EPCOT enthusiests met up that day in the Park and celebrated it's 25th birthday on our own? Yeah...a good ol' fashioned fan meetup. Kinda like that "other" Fan Event i am known for, CheeseVention, but for EPCOT Center fans!

So guess what folks....i have announced a fan gathering for EPCOT Fans on another message forum i am involved in and the response so far has been very positive! I wanted to alert everyone here to the gathering as i know many Showbiz.com readers are Disney Park fans and thought some of you might like to know about it.

Big news gang.....my little event has now become officially recognized by the Disney organization and we are now going to be involved in the Re-Dedication Ceremony of EPCOT on October 1st! Yippee!!!!!

This is very exciting news...as it means our little "rally" is being officially recognized by the Park and by the Disney management. Yay!!!

As of today, we have 932 registered attendees, and 145 total for the Dessert Finale Party that night.

We will surely be hitting 1000 by Friday, which is the deadline to register!

Okay, latest number: 998 signed up for the Event! Woo Hoo! Tomorrow is the LAST DAY to register!

We have 145 registered for the Illuminations Dessert Finale Party. Yippee! Registrations for that part of the Event is now over.

Latest tally: 1032 with 12 more hours to register!

Final tally: 1042...not including additonal names that will more then likely be added as "VIPS" and "Special Guests".

Registration for this mega-event has RE-OPENED! If anyone is interesting in joining in, feel free to register at the link provided in my first post . You have until September 25th now.

Registration re-opened to accomidate a surge of interest from overseas fans ( primarly a large UK audience). We currently have about 1,065 people signed up to attend. The Parks' Re-Dedication Ceremony is now confirmed, and Marty Sklar, WD Imagineering legend, is now confirmed to appear!

Since registration re-opened last week, we now have well over 1,100 people registered to date, more will surely be added by the new registration closing date of September 25th.


More news:

Disney has now officially announced publicly the Re-Dedication of EPCOT Ceremony that our group was invited to partake in. Marty Skylar, the legendary Disney Imagineer himself will be hosting some of the Park "History Walks" with us! Woo Hoo!!

More great news now officially confirmed by Disney: There is to be a spectacular display of memoraibia, artwork, models, and more in honor of the 25th Anniverary. This will be a huge museum-like display incorporporating many itmes telling the story of how EPCOT was first created, planning stages, building, and finally it's entire history to the present day. This is a fans' wet dream really....as for years i have been wanting to see such a thing in the Park itself. Well, it's finally going to happen on October 1st! The display is slated to be in the largest space in Innoventions West.

So BIG news..........

Thanks Danny.....yeah, i always tend to add a "y" to his name for some odd reason. It is probably because i pronounce his name "SKY-lar".

I am not making any materials like programs, etc. like i do for CheeseVention. Other people are handling those tasks ( though we are not having a printed program).

We had an article appear in the Orlando Sentinel today ( thought credit for creating the event went to my event partner, Adam....) in both print and online at www.orlandosentinel.com (http://www.orlandosentinel.com) There is also have a nice write up on www.allears.net (http://www.allears.net) that was put up today as well.

The latest word announced today in both these articles is confirmed by Disney: We will be seeing SPECIAL RETRO EPCOT GUIDE BOOKS issued on October 1st ONLY!!!
