Hello everyone, I am new here. I just bought a couple characters and I am very excited!
I know there are concerns about having a shortage of original computers and the old analog system.
I want to build some new computers, as I think it would be simple. I need a picture of one, if anyone has one. Also, do you know the voltage/amps sent to the valve bank to fire a valve off.
I have a software company, so once I figure a few more things out, I may make software that will allow people to easily create songs.

The entire RAE show was based off of a device called a "pianocorder". You can look that up on Google and go from there.
I can't give you any specs, as I have original equipment and NO docs :)
I can tell you the MAC valves work on 24vdc...
and one last thing...
If you project ever gets to the point where "anyone can program songs" be aware there are copyrights on the robots that the owner/inventer protects with a lot of passion.
There is a member of this very board that already came up with an entire control and programming system he was selling, but it didn't go over so well with Aaron.
Good Luck with your project!

Yeah all the parts are from pianocorder player pianos. So if you get a playback board and a few Driver boards (long driver board). And do the modifications like CEI did then you can have a show running. I made my own playback board a few years ago and it worked.

Can you share some of what you did? What pinanocoder did you get? A Mirantz? When you say driver board, gig you make these, or are they they one that come with a pianocorder?

CEI removed a 6 pin chip and added some wires to bottom the board and for the LDB it looks like they just added one resistor.

How many characters could 1 "computer" run? It looks like there are a couple large inputs and outputs to 3 valve banks.
I dont know what would be more difficult, finding a pianocorder or the "computer".
Thanks for the pictures!

Thanks! That is cool. I will look for a pianocorder. Maybe I will get lucky and find a computer. I bet they are rare!

A few years back I was told that you could still get one from CEI for around 5,000.00. But who knows now I wish you luck.

Ok, I found a place that I can get the driver boards for $55. I can get the main board for $90.
The only thing that I cannot figure out is:
-The input on the main board, from the pianocorder player has several inputs. From what I know, the showbiz setup only has 2 outputs from the audio playrt to the main board.
-The showbiz setup was 24v and the pianiocorder was 170v to its solenoids. I will have to find out how to handle this.

What are the part numbers?
One playback board I have is 100-04D011-1

Actually, I dont know the part numbers. But, I will find out. These are the pianocorder parts, not CE parts.

In the CEI parts catalog they have it as E1-10060. 100-04D011-1 is on the board.

How many bots do you have, and how many are you trying to control? Is your lobg term goal to have a full size show, or do you want something smaller?

Ahh. The smell and wonders of the grey box. And the blue box too. :p Hey David, do you still have the "Trade in an Apple II for a BlueBox" promotion? I'm insanely needing one for my full show (once I start setting it up).

That's okay. So how much is it without the offer?

:| Uhhhhhh I just spoke with her and she's acting all funky... hopefully I can get an answer out of her. She was supposed to get the shipping company to speak with the owner and get a quote for some time. I really hope she doesn't screw me over...
