Here's an incredibily random thought that has been in my head for years now.....

You know how cat and dog food is made in flavors that seem to appeal more to the palate of a person then there pet? Cat food flavors like "Gourmet Salmon Feast" and " Minced Chicken and Smoked Beef" Sounds good, huh?

Well what i wanna know is...how the heck do we even know that these pets of ours are even the slightest bit interested in this "human food"? Why not serve them the things nature intended them to eat...flavors we KNOW they love!

So the burning question is this...why don't they make cat and dog food that is in flavors that cats and dogs REALLY like??

Like....why is'nt there any bird flavored cat food? How about chipmunk flavor, or mouse flavor?

And for the dogs....why is'nt there cat flavor?

Told you this was random....

It could be sesory overload...if a dog gets used to cat flavored food, it might go after cats and start killing them or even become aggressive to children.
Or something.
Anyway, I used to share dog treats with Jane. We'd sit on the porch, I'd eat have a milk bone, she'd eat the other half...
The ones they have at the treat bar at Petco are actually pretty good. Especially the ones that look like little oreo cookies.
I think I've said too much. :o

And how do we know that they taste like the are supposed to ?

I asked My grandparrents if it tastes like chicken and tuna, and they said it does. ;) Okay, just kidding. We did a taste test on my radio station once, it did infact taste pretty much like they say it does.

When my dogs were puppies to potty train them when we took them for walks we'd give them treats after every time they went outside and my friend saw one of the treats looked and smelled like a steak so he tried and just says even though it gives a taste for them it doesn't work on us.

I work in a grocery store so here's my 2 cents on the matter....

Why does a dog need 'Filet Mignon' flavored food? I've never even had this and some old ladies are feeding this to their dogs.

Anywho, I always wondered what the difference between human food and pet food was. Then I noticed that some brands (especially the generics) use ASH as a filler material! Ick...

Also my friend was jokingly chowing down on a little milkbone years ago trying to be funny... until he read the ingreidents and found out that they were actually packed with real bone marrow. That was the end of that.
