Hi Gang!

I have some news regarding the anticipated release of the CV5 Dvd. Some of you, particularly those who attended, have been wondering WHEN it is going to be availible for purchase.

Well i have great news...Richard is currently cutting it together and soon we will have a finished program. Yay! I would say that by November we should have it out.

This disc will cover all the highlights of the Event, as well as some footage Pre-Event and Post-Event. Stuff like building the Live Show Finale props ( the fabulous MMBB setup/instruments) to seeing the van literally JAM PACKED with stuff after the Con was over.....and more! Naturally you will get to see and hear all that went on at CV5, and have great footage of the entire Live Show segment. A teaser sampler was released on YouTube a week after the Event....check it out!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xEmD3w1xwkQ

The Dvd will ALSO feature the much-talked about Ephisode 5 of "Letters to Looney Bird LIVE". This is the one we shot in front of a live audience ( the CV5 Attendees!) with hilarious results. This will be included on this release, along with some bonus features.

The completely random "Disco Chuck" moments will also be included..lol....for those wanting them!

More news when i have it.

Will do, Bro!

I think the highlights for this disc will be the Live Show segments, as well as the off the wall stuff we shot.

The 'Letters to Looney Bird LIVE at CV5" program will also be a hoot and well worth the price alone....i can guarentee that!

It's great that these are released. It raises money for the site, it let's those who attended relive and remember everything and it lets those who didn't attend see it!

Yessiree....and it ALSO raises money for the CV Fund to enable us to purchase supplies, prizes, snacks, and other costs of running CheeseVention. Without the Cv Dvd sales, we would not have been able to bring you as nice of an Event as we wanted...so BIG THANK YOUS to EVERYONE who contributes!!

Today i sent Richard all the graphics of Tux Chuck that he needed to finish the video production end of the Dvd. More news when it gets closer to completion!

I'm sure Richard will stop in here at some point and talk about how it is coming along.

What containers/codes do you guys use before putting the video on the DVD? I study video encoding as a hobby a little bit so if it's quality you're looking for, I can help you out a bit! :D

Well that depends on whether Travis actually presses the master fior distribution or I do it.

If I wind up producing the master, it's whataver my Sylvania DVR91DG recorder puts on it.

Also in case you're interested, I'm editing the show using SmarttEdit 3.5 on the Casablanca AVIO.

Have you considered/tried Avid Xpress? I took a full video editing/sfx adding course, that taught Avid, and it does a great job. It has several features that editors like Final Cut and Camtasia don't have. I'm not sure about SmartEdit though.

I have old wimpy cPC omputers that run at half a gigHz or slower and low on memory to boot so I can't run any video editing system on them. That's why I rely on a standalone system that works completely by itself without having to rely on an expensive top notch PC.

CV2 was edited on the Casablanca AVIO too.

Ho ho ho!! Be careful, that statement could open a longtime 'can o' worms'! LOL!!

:))

Well folks, Richard is still hard at work on the release. I sent him a copy of the complete CV5 Soundtrack ( yes, there IS one!) that will help him edit in some fine musical selections and insure we have a fabulously full Live Show Segment audio track. Yay!

Richard, when you can....let's hear about what you have been working on lately!

Thanks Jen for the soundtrack tape...I used it where I could to clean up the dialogue and music during the Live show, though doing that comes at the expense of eliminating the audience noise, regardless of whether that was drown or not. Also, synchronizing audio and video from two different tapes is a rather difficult task , at least with the equipment I have, plus the speed difference between Jen's tape player and mine which I was only partly able to compensate for.

The good news is.....the post production is FINISHED!!!! Well, at least 99% done...all that I'm missing is that video clip showing J and Jen building the MMBB props. It's part of the Behind The Cheese segment and I left a hole at the beginning of that extra feature so as soon as I get that piece of the puzzle in the mail from J (or Jen if you can get it copied from J since he's busy with Halloween), it will go right into the show and then I can press the whole production onto disc, then it's off to Travis for mass duplication, packaging and distribution. (Jen and J will get their own special preview DVD's at that same time directly from me.)

Speaking of Behind The Cheese, here's a hilarious moment you can all look forward to seeing on the DVD...
http://www.bobdbob.com/~rtrabbit/personal/HELLOON.JPG
BtC is just one of a half-dozen extras that will be part of the CV5 dvd, along with another Phat E. Cheese random car moment that I had forgotten I captured at the end of that weekend.

And remember, Episode 5 of Letters To Looney Bird is included on this DVD too...but don't forget to order Episodes 1-4, available separately.

Hope you all enjoy the DVD when it's out!

I could actually attach that to the DVD as a separate "video" segment if there is interest.

Wow! Fantastic update Richard...and THANKS for that great pic! I totally forgot about the 'historic' meeting between Classic Helen and Looney Bird...ha ha! And he says he does'nt like Chuck E. things......lol.....

J must have that footage you need Richard....so i will get in touch with him and let him know you need it asap. It's pretty wacky, showing us goofing off in the balloon shop J works in building these lifesize props and the table centerpeices.

This is a definate 'must' ad-on as it clearly shows that those cool MMBB 'instuments' were copies we made...not actual Show Props! A couple of people have asked me since seeing the YouTube Promo video from CV5's Live Show where we got them....as in, what CEC! They were made from scratch out of cut foam board, painted, glittered, and in the Munch Keyboards' case, paper lined and lighted!

I would go ahead and ad the 'official' CV5 Soundtrack on Richard since there seems to be interest. It is little more then the CV5 Theme and the complete audio recording i did of the entire Live Show Spectacular ( the one i recorded the MORNING OF CV5..mind you...EEK!)

Did i ever tell that story? I must have......nobody had a clue what was going to happen during the Lives except me as the show had to be recorded in the last possible minute. I'm sure i covered that in the main CV5 Thread. If not, give a hollar and i will tell the tale.

This does seem like a fun release and I may look into it! I just have one question... Do you use VHS camcorders or something? Because that Helen/ Looney picture looks very degraded as if it were from 1984, haha. I'm not knocking it but it made me wonder... (I used to use an S-VHS but I don't know where that is so I use a HI-8 and DV camcorders now).

I actually know the answer to that. He is probably using an older DV Camcorder. What's common now is HDV, which is basically a high definition format of DV, used for newer Camcorders/HD Cameras. I prefer digital. DV may have a 'retro' feel, but digtial is better quality. (No offense to those who use older tech.)

Mainly two cameras were used for recording CV5...my camera was VHS-C, while J's I think was miniDV?

The Helen/Looney picture looks degraded because the external video capture device I used to grab the frame is pretty old itself.

Nevertheless, even if I had more up-to-date cameras to use, my editor still inputs only regular composite video anyway, so footage from a DV source would not have improved the quality much with my equipment.

Remember, I have over 25 years (and counting) experience producing a public access cable TV show here in New York City, almost completely relying on my own resources.

Oh, I was not saying you were inexperienced at all! (I'm still in high school with no public access TV show to speak of, haha.) It's cool that you have your own equipment like that though. I capture to DVD from my DV camcorder with composite as well (DV cables are outrageously priced!). I have used a USB for quick capture to AVI or WMV before, though!

Ha ha ha! Totally!

Yes, most of the footage shot at CV5 was done on VHS tape. Most CV releases are shot on tape, but like anything, some footage is in better quality then others.

Not 1984....lol.....early 90's the camcorders were from i beleive. Nice observation though..it made me laugh! We are doing it on purpose...yeah , yeah....to keep that "Retro feel"!!

Nope. J and myself are proud to state we use NO DIGITAL technology of ANY KIND in the production of our works. :D

The two cameras he has are both VHS camcorders ( the ones that use the mini tapes!) All music/voiceover recordings and playback that were used are also all NON-Digital. I record everyhing on cassette tape. I'm a hands-on kind of gal...lol.

The Helen/Looney picture looks degraded because the external video capture device I used to grab the frame is pretty old itself.

So in other words folks: Do NOT use this photo as a sample of what the CV5 Dvd's picture quality will be like! It will be much better then this! ;;)

Probably the CV3 DVD...you actually get to see RAE footage(nice show Captslappy!), and the video quality is much better than the first two CV DVDs. It's decent all the way through the DVD. The fourth CV DVD is decent, but there's hardly any RAE/Showbiz stuff in that one since it was CEC's 30th anniversary we were celebrating. (there are bonus features where you can see the really crappy looking Rackafire Pizza RAE though.)

I agree with Bzier, the CV3 Dvd Set from 2006 is a must-have. It is 'Nick-tastic' and definately covers everything from the RAE to Classic PTT ( in the rough) to more modern times. It is a great way to start off with this set, as it is one of the best to date.

Yeah...'Coming Soon'.....

At the moment J and I are awaitiing PHOTOS from the attendees of CV5. All of you who 'registered' for CV5 back in the summertime to attend should have now received a message via e-mail from J asking for YOUR cool CV5 photos! WE NEED THEM badly for the official Dvd cover!

J and myself took very few pictures ( i took NONE) as we were too busy running the event! What little we do have is not enough for a decent photo-encrusted cover like the one i would like to produce for the release.

What we are exspecially looking for is photos of PEOPLE who attended...the GROUP PHOTO we all stood for at the Danvers CEC during Danny's Party ( Danny...are you reading this??) and of course we would love to get some pix of all the Munch Band Members who appeared together during the CV5 LIVE SHOW Spectacular!

If you can help, please PM myself or J!

I begin work on the cover in early November, so send in your pix!

Thanks a bunch Danny..i just looked them over a hour or so ago. The four shots you sent and GREAT and i will more the likely use two of them. THANKS for sending these!

I start work on the cover soon..hopefully in the next week or so. I have a couple other art projects i am working on, so i should be able to slip it in without too much trouble.

Basically it's now up to me to finish the cover before it can be released. Richard gave me a great idea for the front cover already ( the original CV5 Program cover) so that will be easy. The BACK over will have the pix you folks are sending in.

I wish i knew how to capture SCREEN SHOTS. I have the pre-release dvd right here, and can play it on my Comp'...but i do not know how to do screen shot/picture saves for certain scenes that i would LOVE to use.

Can anyone offer any advice? This would help with not only the back cover collage, it would ALSO enable me to SHARE SCENES here!

Thanks in advance for any advice/tips!

What screen shots do you need? Since I have the original source DVD still, I can capture whatever you need and email the still pictures directly back to you or even post them here myself. In fact I already did that with one scene from Behind The Cheese.

Alternatively, J has the DVD too. When I was up there, I gave him that USB video capture device that can digitize video off tape so he can play the disc from a separate DVD player into it and grab screens the same way. I think Windows Movie Maker can do that within Windows XP.

Awesome Richard...thanks for the offer! Here's a brief list of 'wants' for the cover:

I would really like a shot or two of J and Looney Bird from the 'Letters to Looney Bird LIVE at CV5' show. Something expressive and fun.

I would also like a shot of the MMBB Cast from the Live Show...as well as a pic of Billy Bob and Looney uring their re-filmed song.

Pix featuring interesting things ( like the Collectibles Table with attendees standing around it) would be awesome. You know..stuff that can be put on a package and grab fans' attention. 'People' in the shots are good!

I'm still interested in learning how i might be able to do 'screen caps' of dvd's so feel free to let me in on the 'secret'. Note i do not have anything but my laptop ( with dvd playing ability.) No fancy Technology here.....as most already know.

Okay Jenn, I'll get right on it! I'll emal them to you and also post them to the CV5 photo thread that I started here months ago.

For me, there's no secret to doing screen caps. If anything, my methods for putting photos and video onto the Internet are probably rather klutzy compared with what most people nowadays do since I tend to use separate standalone devices to do different things, but at least I don't have to rely on having one powerful (and expensive) computer doing everything at the same time.

Latest news:

The CV5 Dvd cover is now finished...yay! Printing will commence and i will be shipping them out the Vega in the next week or so if all goes well.

I have had a chance to view the disc programs again and you guys are going to be pleased i think. For the folks who actually attended, you will LOVE IT as there is plenty of footage of eveyone who came. The kids are gonna LOVE IT! You guys were AWESOME!

What i like about this edition is Richard decided to include EVERYTHING in order of it happening...including 'before' and 'after' the Event. We are talking about 'Behind the Cheese' type material ....footage shot while J and I were building the Munch Band Live Show Finale props to the after-Con joys of shelping tons of stuff back and forth. Yep, YOU are right there behind the camera as we pack cars, shlep stuff, talk about random topics, and see all the things most people who attend a CV don't get to see....or might not even be aware of! So you start off seeing us getting things ready and prepared for the big day...then the lead up to the kickoff, the Event itself and all that went on...to post-Event cleanup and carrying the stuff out and packing the vans. It gives a good overall feel of the ENTIRE experience... not just the 'Event' itself.

There are also some neat Bonus Features too....a Cv Dvd tradition...and this edition does not dissapoint. Not only do you get to see the highly anticipated Ephisode 5 of "Letters to Looney Bird LIVE " that we shot live with the Cv5 attendees...but you also get the COMPLETE set of video of '"Phat E. Cheese's Random Disco Moments"! Better still...you ALSO get TWO ephisodes of Richards' cable access program based in NYC - "Rapid T. Rabbit and Friends"- that cover all the festivites at Cv5! Whoa!

What else? Shoot...let me think now...

Well you get to see J and Looney Bird in action in front of a live audience as they answer all sorts of questions about the Rock-aFire ( and CEC....much to Looney's dismay...)

You can get a virtual visit in to 'Story Land' and Glenn, NH

Check out the sights at CV5 including the Collectibles Room, Cyberamic Displays, and the Main Cv Hall all decorated up.

See 'Wizard Chuck E.' perform real magic tricks before your very eyes

Hear Helen Henny mention backstage during the Live Shows that she needs to 'buff her beak' before going out to perform

See what happens when Phat E. Cheese does not get enough exercise from dancing up a storm to 'Y.M.C.A"

Laugh along as J and Jenn try to stash a bunch a CV stuff in two vehicles....and try to squeeze themselves in too ( Richard does a couple of great on-the-spot - in the moment- interviews.)

See PASQUALLY actually play the drums! ( Well....sort of......lol....)

Check out the scene at the 'Waffle House'......

.....as we Party with Danny, his Dad, and the rest of the Cv5 Attendees as we kick off the Event in style!

So all in all, most should find this highly entertaining!

WOW J.......talk about 'blanant holiday promotional marketing'
Shoot....Looney Bird will be darn proud of you for pluggin' this here Dvd like that!...Ha ha ha!! :))

Yessiree....hopefully it WILL be released in time for the X-mas onslaught of gift-giving madness. Er...i mean, hopefully it will be released to be become a cherished Christmas gift for one and all! Sheesh...see what working at a retail store does to your brain?

I am printing and sending the covers for the cases this week and will be shipping them all off to Veganova soon afterwards. If it DOES get out and is availible before the Holiday, we will be lucky to see it a week before,..so it will be close.

No matter what we do, we never seem to be able to get a release out in less then three months! You would be amazed at how involved it is getting these programs together. There are SO many steps, as several people are involved in the many steps it takes to get it through the pipeline to a finished dvd product.

In the meantime, i will keep with J's theme and say this:

Hey, if the Cv5 Dvd is NOT out in time...there is ALWAYS the very wacky 'Letters to Looney Bird LIVE' set! You can catch up and watch the first four shows...then you will be in great shape to see Ephisode 5 on the Cv5 Dvd ! Woo!

:-P

Latest update now....

The Dvd's are officially being 'pressed' and should be up for sale very soon! There is a SLIM slim chance it may be before X-mas, but more then likely just after.

So DON'T spend all your X-mas Money this year that Santa Chuck brings ....save some for this fab Dvd!

I watched the entire program again after letting it sit for a few weeks, and it is good stuff. I think the best parts are the 'Pre Event' footage segments and the 'Aftermath' footage ( of shelping stuff..). Some very 'in the moment' things, and it gives you the feeling of being right there in the middle of the preperation/disessembly. In one scene, with J and I standing outside with two vans full of stuff, i note that now we will be able to 'eat AND sleep' now that the Event is over! Ha ha ...all too true!

Naturally the 'Letters to Looney Bird LIVE at Cv5' is a hoot...the audience was awesome! Elliot the baby LOVED Looney Bird and he seemed to want to climb into the Barrel with him. All the kids who attendend and sat on the Mike Magusiak couch were great too. One of the funniest moments was near the end, when our own E.J. asked a last minute question to Looney ( which Looney was not overly happy about! Ha ha!). Danny's Dad tried to also convince Looney Bird to do like the Beatles do - try to 'give CHEESE a chance' ( as in 'Give Peace a Chance') when it came to his distaste for all things Chuck E. Fantastic expression! This 'slogan' we will explore in future LTLBLive ephisodes i am sure.

I was reminded that it has been a while since i gave a update on the status of the CV5 Dvd release ( thanks Rockafirefan!)

For those wondering: The Dvd is finished, ready to go...it is just not listed currently on the Showbiz Online Shop yet! It will be soon...

Here is a direct link to the 'Exclusive Items' section of the Showbiz Online Shop. Keep checking back to see when it gets listed.

Ha ha just for that I'll post it next month. :-p

Actually this is in fact finished and just needs to be posted on eBay. The holdup is mainly due to new adjustments eBay has made regarding manditory shipping charges in certain catagories and new payment features like paypal only.

I guess part of me is resisting the urge to pony up to eBays rediculous new rules. I'm actually going to have to go through and update all of my store items just to remain in compliance. Not looking forward to that at all which is why I've yet to undertake listing anything new.

Seriously though I'm hoping these will, along with all the other missing CV DVD set, be listed for sale sometime early next week when I have my days off from work.
