Travel Chuck 2007 on eBay

Hello faithful SP.com followers,

It was brought to my attention this morning by pizzacam (mad props for the tip by the way) that our original Travel Chuck is currently being sold on eBay. Which is odd because he was lost in the mail, sent to nowhere near where he is currently being auctioned from.

Now, although we do consider him our "property", he wasn't exactly stolen. So we're seeking to quietly purchase him back fair and square from the seller and keep him from ending up getting trashed in some little kids toybin. X-(

So basically what we're asking is for everyone reading this to respectfully NOT bid on the auction. We have a handful of bidders in place that are ready to rescue him and bring him back to the SP.com community. Please resist the temptation of bidding and complicating this bailout plan.

He is officially retired at this point, but we still want him back so he can make future appearances at CheeseVentions and other fan gatherings, etc. I should note that THIS IS NOT A JOKE. We were kinda poking fun at where he really was in the "lost" storyline, but in all seriousness, we're not the ones selling him here and we really really want him back. :((

Huh, that's an awfully strange story, so there's only one of this particular toy in existence, or is there something else special about him? Forgive my ignorance on this, I'm just overwhelmingly curious.

Also, on a completely unrelated note, this prompted me to do a showbiz search and I found the most interesting Billy Bob item...not sure I should post the link as people here might be bidding on it and the last thing it needs is more traffic. i just mention it because I certainly can't bid on it, just saw it and was like...WOA!

Really? Well it still looked pretty cool all the same, I didn't even think any existed beyond prototypes. And heck, I'd do the trade too for even half a real bot, least if it was Mr. Munch, I couldn't see doing it for any of the others since I like Billy Bob, but Mr. Munch is up there too.

Well, there ya all go... with unbelievable odds and a story fit to be turned into a feature length Hollywood film, he is technically back among the fandom.

Once I have him secured and in my possession, I will then try to find out how he got to Buffalo NY and exactly what happened. After that, it's off to his official retirement at the SPP.COM Museum.

I waited until after I received Chuck (and the positive feedback)) and sent the seller an e-mail...

now that you ask about it... I never received a response! I'll send another e-mail out and see if the seller still exists!

The good news is that Chuck is enjoying Christmas in Chicago. Then he's heading to Colorado to celebrate the new year and settle down for a well deserved retirement.

Here is the official story of 'What happened to Chuck'...inlcuding my theory as to why he ended up in NY and never made it to CV5 in MA this July!

Travel Chuck was spending time in TX in the Summer of 08' once he was finally retrieved from another fan who had him for some time. The first half of 08'' Chuck was listed as MIA, but happily he was found, and by June or so' he made it to TX again to spend some quality time with our own mighty Captain. Mike planned on taking some fun photos with him in different poses to post on Travel Chuck's 'blog' if i remember correctly....with a fun story included.

CheeseVention 5 was coming up fast, in July, and the original plan for Travel Chuck was to END his adventures at CV5 in MA. He began on the other coast, in CA, at the start of CV4...and everyone thought it would be cool to have Travel Chuck LITERALLY go 'coast to coast' as we already knew CV5 would be in MA the following year. Okay...cool! So Chuck went off from CA and visited many famous places ( see his 'travel blog' here on Showbiz.Com for all the details and pix).

Okay...so CV5 is a week away and The Captain mailed him up to us for the Event. There was a rush to get him up here, as time was ticking away.. My THEORY is that the parcel he was mailed in might have had a misswritten address labled on it. Maybe a missinterupted zip code..maybe a 'road' instead of a 'street'...no one will ever know for sure. Stuff happens...dang USPS.

Here where i live in Lynn, MA we have a GRANT ROAD and a GRANT STREET. My guess: He ended up at Grant STREET...which is NOT where i live! EEK! So my guess is he ended up on 'Grant St'. My other therory was that the wrong zip code may have caused the parcel to sit in the 'dead bin' at the Post Office and...well...someone helped themself to him. Who knows...In the days following his mailing, i kept in touch and both me and The Captain were puzzled as to what happened to him. Panic set in when it was realized he may not be seen again.

Well anyway....Needless to say Chuck never made it to CV5. He was 'MIA'...again! Imagine my shock when Veganova spotted him on Ebay...showing him listed as being in NY! How the heck did he end up in NY? Well i have a theory for that too....

He probably made it to MA, but because of a address error, he ended up elsewhere here ( probably Grant ST..that is my theory anyway..). Whoever lives there could have a friend or relative who lives in NY that they passed it on to to sell. A lot of folks in these parts know folks in NY, so it is possible.

So...those are my guesses. It is too bad the original seller does not reveal where they got him. They probably are scared to reveal the story as maybe they think we will chase em' down for some legal reason due to them selling ' our stolen property'?? Dunno....

I could be totally wrong...but again, these are my theories.

So I just read all the posts just now and this all doesn’t surprise me one bit. Working in retail you wouldn’t believe all the evidence of usps, ups, and fedex opening boxes and taking things, even when the items were going to the right address. That’s why I started printing out two packing labels one on the top and one on the bottom so I know when people are tampering. Oh and this has happened to be a total of 6 times! When fedex drops important packages they open up the box or boxes, take out most of the good protective packaging material, and then close it back up. So when I get it I hear, "The item is damaged you didn’t package it well enough. But after the second time I learned! I say, "No its fedexs fault I took a picture of the item and box before I sent it off, they dropped it!”

Opps couldn’t edit it in time. When the person on the other side gets it I hear.........
