Hey guys! I'm new to the board and thought I would take a moment to introduce myself. (I looked and couldnt find any intro threads. sorry if i missed it!)
My name is Robert (call me Robbie :) ) and I live in the Los Angeles area. Ive been going to CEC for as far back as I can remember. My parents would take me to the one in Lakewood, CA to see the RAE, but I stopped going there since I hate Studio C and that's what they have now (at least it's an alpha).
I am a huge fan of the RAE! In the process of buying a stage now! The only pics I have of RAE are from my 7th b-day party. I loved the RAE so much! I would make my grandpa take me every weekend to see them! I remember taking cassette recorders with me and recording the songs. lol. I also miss the big projector screen that would come down from the ceiling between showtimes and play road runner cartoons.
as i got older i stopped going. (around 16 or so). i was still going up until that point because the lakewood cec is right across the street from the lakewood mall. so my mom would drop me and my friend aj off at cec while the rest of my family went to the mall. i started going again about two years ago. but only once a season maybe. within the last 4 months i really started going very heavily. i dont know what happened, but i all of a sudden have become addicted again.
then one day about a month ago i was talking to a friend about how there used to be a "black munch" and "white jasper". a "girl mouse", and, although my friend didnt believe me, i told him "chuck e was not even on the stage". i didnt remember the rae name or the character names either. except i did remember "billy bob". probably because of the advertising and merchandising. i was too young when rae was around to remember the details. i remembered what they looked like tho. and even some of their songs. just not the names. (cu took place when i was 8 )
so i went on yahoo to try to find some pics of the "old characters". and thats how i came across this site! this has really sparked my interest again! and i was so excited to see other people who missed the rae and were talking about them!
when i was a kid, i used to make my own stages at home. lol. i would make cardboard characters with manually moveable parts. and use a box for the stage. christmas lights for lighting. my recorded tapes for audio. then i would make cardboard skeeball and flip n win games. i'd invite all my friends over, and even make pizza. lol. i even would make a prize counter and have cec prizes. too bad i never took a pic of these!!! i did it pretty often! like every couple months!
my dream now is to open up my own restaurant with the stage im buying. ive also been looking around at games too. theres this awesome location in town thats 20,000 sq feet. it used to be a retail store, but now the city wont allow my business there cuz its been re-zoned to be for office use. so so dumb! its surrounded by a mall and a new shopping center on one side, and homes on the other. office space there just doesnt seem right! and it used to be a retail store anyways! grr!
for now im in the process of starting up my own office supply company. ive been in the industry for years now. worked for office depot corporate for a few years. started out as a rep, then supervisor, trainer, lead supervisor, computer programmer, and other positions. also have done purchasing, contract accounts, and other duties. ive seen what the big companies are doing wrong and where they're headed, and i decided to start my own company to do things right. kinda like with my restaurant and cec also. so dont buy from the big guys! ill give u cheaper prices and better service! (www.hambyofficeproducts.com 877-861-7266) coming very soon tho. not complete yet.
until im able to get my restaurant, i decided to work for the big rat. i applied at a local cec the other day with my best friend. we'll see how that turns out. im already at cec every single day anyways, so i may as well be getting paid to be there. haha. i know way more about cec than any of the employees ever will, and i can do the birthday dances better than them too! lol!
yes, its true, im at cec almost every day. sometimes 2, or 3, yes even 4, different cec's in one day! i wouldnt doubt it if im among their top 10 best customers in the country.
my goal was to find a 3 stage. and i finally did a couple days ago! it was in fullerton, ca. and i was very excited! my goal right before that was to see rae, and i did in indio, ca (talk about a joke! ill post more on that later!). now my goal is to see the King and Beagles, since I heard rumors they're still hanging around up north.
ok, so im a dork, and i am now collecting tokens. haha. i have most 90's and all 00's. some 80's. collecting 4 complete sets. all versions of the "gold" coins. (derby and young chuck for years that have both)
...hmm... what else? well enough about chuck...
im into super eurobeat (SEB), happy hardcore (hhc), trance, and top 40 music. SEB is not "trance" like everyone assumes from the title. it is actually a fast (closer to hhc) type of music that is made in Italy, sang in English, and mostly sold in Japan. Many Japanese games (DDR, BM IIDX, Para Para Paradise, Initial D) and anime (chobits) feature SEB music. SEB CDs feature various artists, and a new CD is released almost every month since 1989! There are now around 160 CDs! check out www.eurobeat-prime.com for more info.
my favoritest video game in the world is Para Para Paradise 2nd Mix. Para Para is actually a dance style in Japan that has its roots back to disco. Americans think it looks funny, but it is actually danced in clubs in japan (like club Velfarre). theres no para para clubs here, so i enjoy dancing to the video game. luckily there are many arcades in california with import games, so i have quite a few places around here that i can go to. (theres a great community at www.paraparastage.com where you can learn more)
I'm also very into electronics. right now im on my averatec c3500 tablet pc. not the best, but the most affordable tablet. and i have a nokia 9500 that i heart! i had a 2004 toyota prius (but ended up trading it for a mustang convertible. had one before and missed putting the top down :P )
and what i was going to start out as a brief introduction turned into a lot of babble. so ill cut it off here. lol. look forward to getting to know everyone! and thanks travis for putting together this great community!
(so did u guess my age yet? lol. ...
