Hello people! ^_^
My name is Jason, from here in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. After lurking for a long time around here, I've finally decided to join up on the board here and converse and make some new friends. ^_^
I'm totally amazed by the wealth of information the showbizpizza.com site has provided, along with the rest of the 'net, in regards to my rekindled obsession with the Rock-afire Explosion. The RAE and Showbiz Pizza Place were integral pieces of my childhood that were sadly left behind when Chuck E. Cheese's took over. The Concept Unification days saddened me greatly when I was a kid, because despite not knowing the deep rhymes and reasons for what happened, the changes were plainly obvious, and I knew I probably wouldn't ever see my favorite characters again. The 3 converted SPPs in Oklahoma to CECs just never did it for me. They weren't SPP, and they weren't the RAE. I never went back since CU. It's even more sad now, driving by the CECs. After calling all 3 locations recently to confirm, they're all now Studio C alphas. =\
So from the CU days, a long time passed... cue amassed life failures, culminating with some deep depression. But you know what they say, "Never say never." I rediscovered what the RAE meant to me, how happy they made me, when I found the video of Aaron Fechter's choreography of the RAE with Against Me!'s song, "Borne Against the FM Waves of the Heart." You know those "goosebumps" you get when you hear a song and you just feel how awesome it is? That song, with the RAE, I felt that again, just like I did so long ago.
After that, I've felt much better about life. All I've wanted to do since then is just find out more and more about the RAE and meet others who've been graced by this phenomenal group, or those who've been responsible for anything the RAE has ever done. Ultimately, I'd love to see the RAE again live, in perfect order, just like how I remember. Bonuses on top of that would be to meet Mr. Fechter and the voices behind the characters, and to thank all of them for all the good they've done; and a big bonus would be to have my own Mitzi set up here in my home. The latter is REALLY far off from happening, but wow, that'd be a big dream come true, literally, from a dream I had back when I was a little kid.
At the very least, I want to go back to my parents' place, crawl up in the attic, and find one of the boxes/bags that has some old plushies in there. I know there's a plush Dook, Beach Bear, Fatz, and Billy Bob up there. I want those back now. =>
But, yeah, I think I'm done babbling. If y'all made it through all that, thanks for hearing me out. *^_^* If any of you have any just as cool/moving stories like that, I'd love to hear 'em. I'd really like to get to talking to all of y'all, because I just find it so awesome there's still a good group of people for a fandom that was predominant so long ago. It just proves that some of the best things in life, no matter how hard some try to squash and bury, will live on forever. ^_^
