What good is a hat if you don't have a head? (Sorry I had to...)
Damn that sucks though.... I was nervous up until the part where it said that nobody riding was injured. That would be pretty harsh if (as a rider) your foot was the one that killed that kid.
Anyway maybe I don't quite understand the mechanics of the ride and all, but it seems to me like a person could time that better. It's not like a group of passengers goes zooming through every 5 seconds. Sorta like when walking people get hit by trains, I just don't get it.
It does suck for the kid though. Moral of the story... read signs and don't go where you're not supposed to be.

You're quite right on that. Rides don't go through every five seconds, more like every five minutes or so. They let everyone off when the coaster's car gets back, then load up new people, plus they have to make sure everyone's properly strapped in which takes time... if they do it right anyways... Also, you should know not to tread near a part of the coaster low to the ground where it can potentially seriously injure or kill you, such as this unfortunately tragic accident. And like you said VegaNova, you shouldn't go into places you're not supposed to be in the first place... I'd rather have done it safely by asking the ride operators to either get it after-hours or shut the ride down while they got it... Or I'd have said "forget it" and simply left the hat. You wouldn't believe the stuff people lose on some of these kinda rides though. But then some don't think about that kinda stuff, and such awful things happen...

"The Park and its employees may not be held responsible for any items lost, stolen, or damaged while riding."
Repeats on speakers when your getting on a ride.

And that's sad when some people just don't think about what could happen to them when they do such stupid acts. That's where I'll be going to on the 4th of July. Six Flags great adventure theme park. I'll be with some friends. and my mom. We'll be in the Kingsburg New Jersey area.

True, but I think I would rather beg an employee to help me get my hat back than go into a restricted area myself.
It is an unfortunate accident, but it was entirely avoidable.

oh lol oops didn't mean to sound like I thought he should have gone in the restricted area.
If I lost MY hat on a ride, it wouldn't even come accross my mind to enter the restricted area to get it.

well everyone i'm back and it was fun. But it's good to be back home. Going to and from our destinations in NJ. There was alot of fireworks being shot up into the sky. A very beautiful display of them. And the rain didn't hold off the fire works either. I took lots of pictures. I didn't load them to my computer yet. been to lazy to do that. hopefully tonight i'll do that and share them with you guys on the board.

Has that kid never heard of the saying, "We'll get you a new one?"
I'm sorry but what an idiot.
