I've sent private messages to a couple of people, but only because I could not post a thread until now.

I'm a first year at the University of Chicago. Each year, we have a huge scavenger hunt, which you may have heard of if you read Slashdot (although I haven't seen an article on this year's hunt posted yet). If not, you can read about it on Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Chicago_Scavenger_Hunt). Anyway, item #10 on this year's list is "Get the Rock-a-fire (sic) Explosion to perform the Scav Hunt Theme Song." The theme song is "Conquest" by the White Stripes. Currently, we are planning on videotaping the RAE at Odyssey Fun World in Naperville (since they haven't returned my phone calls and emails) or ripping some of the footage available on YouTube (Sorry if any of that is yours.) and redubbing it with "Conquest," possibly editing it so that it appears the songs is being performed instead of it looking like a cheap edit job. However, it would be great if we could get the real thing instead. I've read a little bit about the reprogramming you guys have done and was wondering if anyone would be willing to help us out in any way. This is not a relatively high-point item, so this should not be a multi-week project. It also cannot be, since the Hunt ends Sunday. If you can help in any way or have any advice, please reply or email me ASAP. Thanks for any assistance you can offer.

Also, for even more information on the Hunt, you can check out the the judge's website (http://scavhunt1.uchicago.edu) or this year's complete list (http://scavhunt1.uchicago.edu/lists/list2008.pdf) (warning: PDF).

So, Aaron Fletcher created a video for one of our rival teams, which many of you may have already seen. It seems they were better at finding the right people than I am. We're still working on our back-up plan, but if anyone can contribute something before Sunday morning May 11 (tomorrow as I am writing this), either like what Aaron did or of their own creativity, we would be ecstatic. Thanks for all of your support and interest.

just curious, was anyone able to help u? and where can we find the video the other team got? (by the way, quality programming usually does take weeks)

No, unfortunately, but we were able to edit together a video from footage we shot at Odyssey Fun World in Naperville. Aaron Fechter asked me to send him the video we made so he could post it to the fanvideos YouTube account, so that will show up there if you guys want to see it. The video he made for Army Dillo, the rival team who actually went on to win, although by a difference much larger than the points that this item was worth, is here:

I've got a lot of schoolwork left to worry about, so I probably won't be checking back here anymore. Thanks again for all of the help and advice everyone offered on behalf of the Audacity of Pope.
