Well, they like wasting money and spicing the place up. The old remodel was too old, and not as kid friendly. Maybe someon else can better word this

Well, for some of the buildings, they needed it, but most of them were fine the way they were. Most companies do this from times to time, not only to repair the more run-down buildings, but to also keep it fresh, which they hope will bring new customers in. However, I find the Phase 4 really bland and too generic (seriously, replacing parody posters with generic kids?). But in a way, it's also an excuse to spend spend spend, then realize later on "Oops, we spent this much over, and now we're cutting back on this part of the company's nation-wide budget". But perhaps that's not the case.
@Larry: How was the old 90s setup not "kid friendly?" I adore the way the stores used to look, and do now if they've escaped Phase 4. :) I swear, the world is trying to overprotect the kids these days, and a younger look means that the slightly older groups that wanna go don't feel they fit in even less, which means they won't go back. That's all just my opinion though...
Hopefully this explains it a bit better like Larry wanted...

What I mean is that it was more adult like, instead of todays. Lots of kids would look at a record label like "Bad Dog" and be like, ?, while most adults know the parody and might laugh.
I think the crazy idea of tearing walls down and taking out band-related items like the records and shelves is dumb. This is Chuck E Cheese, not the set of Barney!:earl: I always loved the last two phases, and my lucky store still hasn't had Phase 4.

Well, I get the fact kids most likely won't know what the "Bad Dog" or "Flabby Road" parodies are, but it's not just that. Kids can enjoy and appreciate the pieces just because they're the characters dressed differently than what they normally are. I don't think the younger kids really care, they just love seeing Chuck be Luke Skywalker. When I was a kid, I knew what a few of those covers were, like the Willie Nelson parody.... (I mean, maybe I was just more into the loop, but...) I remember staring at those posters all the time because it was pieces that involved the characters that the whole store is about. They still have remnants of the band members' individual pictures, true, but those aren't put into every store sadly. I think when kids see pictures of other kids, they aren't interested as much or at all.
Also, I will NEVER understand why they're destroying the walls. They were there for guests who didn't want to see the show or whatever other reason.
My, my... how I could go on about this.... This is one of the few times I've typed more than a few sentences in more than one post about a topic. IT's really interesting to talk about.

I think just about everybody hates the Phase 4 remodel concept. While a freshening up is good from time to time, I see no reason to make it so bland and toddler-ish. I HATE the kid posters, and find that most of our guest find them unappealing or freaky as well...Ive gotten numerous negative comments concerning them.
I too miss the old parody posters, the memorabilia on the shelves, the neat fake planters, and of course, the showroom wall! There was a distinct 'classiness' to the place before, now I feel like I work at a daycare. :(

I can second your thoughts. I only got new games about two months ago, I still have everything you were talking about, but I got a complaint into home office last week because people don't like the new 'games' primarily the newer kiddie ones so it's a hit and miss sometimes. If the guests don't want the concept to be hammered down, then who are they attempting to please? That said, we also recieved a lot more games for the 'older' crowd, so who knows exactly what 'the vision' is right now. I just don't want anymore complaints - no complaints here :fruit:
Have a magical day!

Ditto man! Sadly I've noticed all the custom CEC stuff is being phased out... It's like Robbie(Youngcalihottie) mentioned... even the games that were customized for CEC seem to be getting phased out and CEC's just puting the "stock" games in it's newest stores. I've also notice that on the latest promo cups they have the slogan "Where Kids Rule" so they MAY be phasing out the old "Where A Kid Can Be A Kid" slogan too... :choochoo:

Sadly, I too agree with this and I wouldn't doubt that they're phasing out all of what once called out to make this place so much more special with the stuff they have now.

I think "Where Kids Rule" was a Burger King Kids Club slogan back in the 90s. It would be dumb to phase Where a Kid Can Be a Kid out after 22 years.:bbembarassed: Then again, the "Its Cool, For Real" only lasted a year.
