So, I have taken a position as a 'Mid-Level Manager' in a CEC in the Northeast.... I'm just posting here, since this will be my first experience working for CEC..

1) What am I getting myself into?
2) Anyone have any advice/success stories??

Appreciate hearing everyone's opinions.

Thanks,

Sean

Well if you're starting off as a manager I assume you must have experience already from somewhere else...? The best thing you have going for you so far is that you got to skip being a cast member! You got to skip over the worse part of working at CEC...

First, welcome to our forum :) Mid-Level as you know is just a long title for 'Assistant' or just 'Manager."

In the northeast, there's generally a GM, two asst's, an OC and a tech... if your store is set up right. Depending on if you have more than one assistant manager, you could be looking at mostly closing shifts in the store. Not necessarily in the northeast, but I know managers elsewhere who have work 5 closes straight. The way it should be set up though, you should have a fairly decent schedule. It's all about being set for success, and moving up to take on your own store. If you stay positive, listen to what's taught, and always raise the bar it will happen.

As for being a cast member part that Gabe mentioned, haha you skipped all that fun stuff. I am the trainer for my store so in a way I'm not really phased by the difference, but in a way I'm happy I started where I did... so when I move up, which I will, so does my price ;)

Have you begun training yet? The month at the training store is... fun, to say the least. I'm from Jersey, so Philly isn't that far away. We've got a few members from that state, too.

Hope to hear back from you soon :)

Welcome to the team! Being a manager does have it's perks, but it also has its headaches...then again, basically any job can have its headaches. It is true, depending on your store, that you might get stuck closing 4-5 nights a week. I always close 4 nights a week. All in all, if you've got knowledge and experience, you'll do great!
