Today at work, one of the cashiers gave me three tokens for my intrest, one was a 82' PTT token, another was a SPP token, than the third...and here's the weird thing, a 2003 token with the early 90s CEC rat head on it instead of the current one! Hmm, wonder how that got pulled off.:nerd:

Yeah I have one of those here, too, from the same year. I posted about it a while back but no one really said anything... except for Jenn. The way I understand it is that franchises can have whichever CEC logo printed on the token that they want from Osborne, but I have no clue why they would want the old one. A former franchise rep informed me of this.

This is gonna sound completly dorky, but, I bet if you save those, they will be worth lots later on... :> Just because they are probably rare! How fun will that be~

A number of the Franchises still use the rat head logo on their tokens. When we were in San Jose, I recieved a few...I also got a few from the Tallahassee store too. I love 'em!

Yep, they are Franchise tokens.
Yet another reason to LOVE Frachise locations!

Yeah we all got some from CV4 from San Jose!
I guess if I had a choice I'd go with the old Chuck too just to be different... I have a 2007 one right here that I got from my local store...It must have taken a while to work it's way down to TX, I think the closest franchise locations around here are Arizona!

When did corp. stop using the rat head in their tokens?

I want some now. Wah.
(Also, this is a bit off topic - when you say a "franchise" store, what do you mean? Thanks, and pardon the noobness)

A Franchise store is a store that is not owned and run by corporate, but by somebody who pays royalties to corporate to use the CEC brand name.

Which also sometimes means that that particular store is a little different from what corporate CEC stores currently have in stores... Sometimes they have older art(like parody posters) or sometimes they're 2 or 3 phases back and still have neon & sometimes...they're WAY behind.

What store is that last picture Gabriel? There's actually stores out there that still use neons? I haven't seen that!

That's from a set of Damon's pictures from the Bossier, Louisiana store from July '06... he stopped at this store on his way back home from CV3 at Captslappy's place
Sadly though he informed me that as of I think early this year it's been remodeled into Phase 4...

my local CEC had the neon interior signs for 3 years after they got a remodel in '93 that gave us the 2 stage. 4 years later goodbye neon hello actual Signs as part of the Phase 3 remodel.

Yeah I think most stores had their "neon phase" from about CU era through umm now appearently...
It's so strange when you really focus on how slow remodels at various CEC's slowly trickle down to each store...

Good way of putting it ...the "Neon Phase"...lol.
Up in these parts we had the Neon 90's era begin in late July of 89'. This was the 3rd remodel and removed the remaining PTT era walls ( to make all rooms larger/more open) and remove the remaining Caberet/Lounge acts. We had the 90's signage and neon...and duck umbrellas....until 96' or around there.
Right now all our locations open prior to 2000 in this Distrcit still have all the decor and signage from the early 90's still. Tux Chuck and 90's era images are everywhere. The 90's "CEC's Pizza" logo is still visable too...it's cool for those that dig that era.
By this time next year, it could well be a different story.
