Well I've got some pretty shocking news from my store's tech and the crew over in Brandon. The store never got the Phase 4 remodel when all the other stores in our area did, and I came to find out that the plaza landlord refused to allow them to remodel.
The landlord and CEC have had quite the fight going on the past few years, and things have gotten so bad, that the landlord has now stated that when CEC's lease is up in 2009, he will not renew it. Which basically means, by that time CEC will have to find a new home...maybe even build a new store. Now, of course things could change in the next few years, but the way things are going, it sounds like it's only going to get worse.
Sad news...Brandon Florida CEC opened up in 1981...it's huge and definitely an old PTT relic. When it does close, it will be missed. This will also leave only 1 store out of the existing 11 stores in central Florida with the Munch Band. :(
Oh yeah...Jenn you better make a trip back down here in the near future to see it before it's gone!

Damn that sucks, but I know of that problem all too well
There's a CEC here(Military Dr.) that's been having landlord issues too...There used to be a K-Mart next to the Chuck up until around 2002 and appearently they're real douchbags about the lease and go back and forth and won't say yes or no each time the lease is up yada, yada, yada...
This store's supposed to get their phase 4 at the begining of '08 and gonna keep their show(2-stage) so I guess we'll see how it all turns out...

Wow...thanks for the heads up Bzier. I was there at Brandon when it was brand new...and it was a major location for years! Gene Landrum will be bummed to hear about this, as this was "his" Store in the early days.
Well, we have some time though. Maybe things will work out....but even if it DOES go under, it will be a sad day. I really need to GO next time i am in central FL.
Part of me wants to, but then a large part of me wants to remember the "way it was" and not see it today.
All in all, a shame if it does close.

I've just got an update from the GM's meeting down here...looks like corporate is trying to smooth things out with the owners of the plaza...they're looking at spending almost $1 million dollars in remodelling the store! The sad news to this story though, is that their Munch Band will go bye-bye along with the remodel. The show is looking pretty rough, and it looks like it might see it's end.
I'll let ya know more as I hear!

Do you have any pictures of the show?

Yeah...some from 3-4 years ago, and then some from earlier this year. It's a 2-stage MMBB, and the stage stands almost 5 feet off of the ground! I've never seen anybody up on that stage...ever. If I can ever get hold of a decent computer, maybe I'll be able to post some pics.

Thanks for the update Bzier.....i am glad Corp is working towards making it remain. They would be crazy not to, as Brandon has been one of THE top money making locations for years....since PTT times!
The place qualifies as a important location, history wise, so it is very good to hear they are investing in keeping it open.
Hurray!
Sorry to hear the show is going out, but if it is in such poor condition it makes more sense to gut it and start fresh............
.........as long as it's NOT "Studio C" CRAPPA....
