Alright, this thread goes goes out to employees who work at their stores...including their obvious problems or have had issues with certain guests or just other annoying things that ticked you off at your own cozy home CEC store.

Here is my list for
BURLINGTON, MA #488

You know you work at CEC Burlington, MA when...

*Your managers are under 25 years old.
*Your MMBB 2-stage is shut off whenever the employees feel like it...especially during a show segment.
*Your costume is a complete piece of ****. The head which has crooked teeth, and hat snapped off, an ear unscrewed and coming off, the list goes on.
*Rubble Bubble, Hi-Ball, and Skee-Ball are your biggest problems in the gameroom.
*Half the cast is on drugs.
*Half the cast call out 3-4 times a month.
*No one is schuealed for gamerooms on a busy Saturday.
*There are only 3 gameroom people on the schueale list.
*Almost every birthday party is Indian, who never leave.
*Chuck's right foot is unbolted and always sticking out and whenever you try to correct it you get yelled at...while other little kids go on the stage messing with the characters while that same someone who yelled at the employee(me) fixing it doesn't care the kids are destroying it.
*Your merch wall is a complete mess and no one ever fixes it up.
*Most of your merch is gone or on the floor.
*You, who are the only Chuck of the store, who can't wait to perform him all day ends up getting stuck at Kid Check because the original kid check person decides to either call out, help in kitchen, or help with the birthday party for no reason whatsoever.
*You are the only person on the floor and are at Kid Check, while three managers are in the back talking with the other employees, when there is also no gameroom person, and you are getting asked every 5 seconds about a broken game and you go to the kitchen to tell them about it, than they come out 5 min later to fix, than after the 10th time it happans you get yelled at by the guest for not getting them out sooner or the manager yells at you to stop bothering them.
*You are yelled at for 'not keeping yourself' busy at kidcheck. esp. when no one is around or coming in.
*The show volume will be all the way down one day....than extremely loud the next day.
*Every guest that comes has never been to the place and freak out by getting a stamp.
*You have an autistic indian person in their 20s who visits all the time with his mother and the autistic person ends up flipping out on every visit with the mother doing nothing about it.
*Everything in the store is just too old.
*Your show dvd player is a piece of crap and ends up skipping a few seconds ahead in the first segment and will just continue with random movements.
*You, who really like working there, are only schuealed to work once a week.

And that is working for Burlington's CEC!

Well they like when I play Chuck E., I'm sure they are...nobody at my store can do it better than I can, consider themselves lucky. But when I am out of costume it's a different story, every weekend a new 'trick' is made up for me by a manager...all three of them. And I pretty much fall for everyone, its actually funny but you can tell how i get treated. The weekend before last it was closing 140 CECs down in the South, and last weekend it was 'I order a new air conditioned 200 pound costume'.

Yeah, well, I found a bit of a trick to keep my head up as high as possible, which is to keep positive, esp. with the guests, afterall, guests are the key factor on what you should be focusing on when you work at CEC. Problem is, is it a good, or bad thing anymore for a uniformed location.

Today when I worked, I tried to keep a smile on my face most of the day, and welcomed each guest who enter, though some guests look at you like they want to smack you for stamping them, you gotta stick to the CEC status, and since I've got my mind on hospitality, that's the way it's going to be.

We, once agian, had no gameroom person on the floor, but the tech was there, so I had to go after the tech alot today about the games, boy I can sure tell he wanted to kick my ass by the end of the day...but he did let me know that I did good by doing my job and just shouldn't go over the top when trying to locate him.

And for the record, I work Sat. and Sun this weekend, and I looked at the schueale to find no gameroom people until 5:00, madness huh? Maybe, but it isn't the end of the world if games blow down on you...I think I am just annoyed with the fact of how its going to my head that I won't be much of a help, while you have to watch kid check, you also are the one trying to help the guests by getting someone to fix the games for you, than you're yell at for not staying in your area.

This concludes that...yes, I know I have heard from some that once you enter the world of working for CEC, you get to see the real people who work behind the kitchen door. And, it is true, that's the way it is.:(

Welcome to the work force in general man.... :(

Most of what I read on your list, especially in regard to customers and employees who call-in all the time is not exclusive to CEC. That kinda crap is pretty well happening in any job. And it's very, very aggrivating to the ones who are there and actually care about the place. They end up paying the ultimate price.

That's why I feel for ya, I would never, never, never work at CEC's. Not that I hate the rat.... it's because I don't want to end up hating the rat. Sometimes it's best to keep work and play seperate. Most people hate their jobs and it's beacuse you have to deal with the negative side of the business most people never have to worry about.

But keep your head up and don't let them beat the fan outta ya!

Yes I'm in agreement with what Travis has said. While I'm rather sad that I lost my franchise performing spot in Union NJ four years ago, on the other hand I know that I would have not "survived" working in that store under the stricter "bean counting" corporate management that runs the place today, in the absence of my former managers who always took good care of me and truly appreciated how much I took care of the mouse during my 9 years with them.

This point of view has always been an underlying tone of my TV show....that we all love our favorite cartoon stars, but sadly enough those that own and manage their careers can be real coldly calculating heartless corporate jerks.

Yeah AJ I have heard of ya before, I think I heard you flipped out when Rick told you about my Munch costume.

In fact, after posting all this stuff about Burlington on the board, I am a bit skeptical that 'CastMemberSteve' or JC are gonna check it out, but alas, since no one from Burlington has told me anything about me posting this stuff yet, I am not gonna delete it.

I don't think Burlington is a bad store at all, I just think I am stressed out from the last couple weekends, with little staff working, running to different areas etc. After today, I had enough, and don't know if I can continue working under the condition, but I am not throwing in the towel on a count of I've got at least a few cast members supporting my butt there so I ain't going nowhere, I just need to cool off.;)

Oh and they need a magical Chuck E....what else could they do without?:cec_thumbs:

I've been working at our store here in Lakeland for over 5 years now, and I've gotta tell ya that I've had some horrible times there. Things had gotten so bad at times I was on the verge of quitting. But you know what? We got a new GM this year and everything has changed since then. Our District manager looks at us as an exaple store...which is funny seeing as how not even two years ago he called us "the Armpit store of his district", basically saying we sucked.
The thing is, CEC isn't magicial all by itself. It takes star cast members like you to really help make and keep that magic. When I first started they wouldn't let me do CEC because they said I was too tall. Now, everybody in my district knows me as 'the best Chuck E in our district'. Best part? I'm a MANAGER...I still love making magic...especially in costume! One person who will go the extra mile will eventually change the average into the awesome. Don't give up! Hopefully some things will change up there for you.
