I am sad to announce that I just found out the CEI produced "Jingle Jamboree" at Santas Village in NH has been closed. They have replaced it with a new live show with 2 new animatronics that play a small role in the show. This was a classic old christmas show featuring 6 animatronic characters. Although it did need some upgrading, it is a bummer to lose another 1 of a kind show!

Apparently the show is not gone for good- it's just being refurbished. :)

Good news J, it's not closing after all...Aaron talked to the owner today and they are just going to be fixing the show up. He has his son working on it...

I might be able to post some pics sometime off a dvd I made last year.

It was a pre-chuckee-cheese? CEI band with a big Santa and dog on a small stage on the right ..Rudy (red nosed reindeer) on the left and 3 elves in the center (piano player looking like elton john etc.) and Elfis that rolls around on a skateboard from behind a tree all running on a Gilderfluke system and the BiGGest air-compressor i`ve ever seen out back : ) lol

Originally the Elfis character came-up from the floor out of a hole that got covered-over by a motorized carpet ..BUT that acted like a tiger-trap with people falling in when they tried to service things so they changed to the tree idea.AND it`s hilarious whoever programmed the movements because when the show`s over he rolls back ..whoosh thump! (against a stopper) ..but then goes back a little and thUmP! ...wooshThumP ..THUmP THUMP!. like 4 times : ) LOL (somebody making SURE he got all the waY bacK etc. : ) heh heh

The figures masks needed to be resculpted / fixed etc. mostly and they were thinking about having the Elfis character come up out of the floor again somehow ..but without digging a 4ft Hole in the hard-soil below there wasn`t much way of doing that ..unless you went back to the old system and put a hard cover on it?

They said that they`re restoring a couple figures at a time ..two this year two the next etc. so we`ll see.

PS: They also have a bunch of Christian Hoffman miniature displays from Germany (the same company that made the figures for the Enchanted Village in Philadelphia and Boston ..but miniature versions) ..they also got other truckloads of figures from the Boston Enchanted Village years back but I didn`t recognize any of`em.

Maybe to prevent the "tiger trap" they'd have the hole covered by a trap door and it would open and close (or even retract) when Elfis went in and out? Then again, if the trap door movement goes out, it could damage either the character or the door (or both even!).

yeah that`s one of the things everybody was talking about but I asked if the carpet retracted every time like it was supposed to and they said no.
so yeAH that was the same conclusions everybody had (unless there`s a couple failsafes put in etc.) ..personally I liked the swinging around from behind the christmas-tree idea they came-up with anyways ..very cartoony.

I told`em if they wanted to dig a 4ft hole in the hard-ground I could make a track that`d lift him straight-up so there wasn`t a huge hole in the stage to fall into but it seemed kind of extreme.

I Should`ve just grabbed the parts they wanted rescuplted and ran back to philadelphia with them and I would`ve had the project from then on ..but I suggested they run the show through that christmas since it was already..sept. maybe?) and just send me the parts after the christmas run .

so of course when I get back that gave them the chance to not call..not call..not call ..then i`m guessing probably accurately they`re now spending $1000`s and $1000`s (and $1000`s) more than they could`ve to get the characters slowly refurbished by the company in NH.

It`s too bad ..for the same most-likely price they could`ve gotten everything fixed plus had a bunch of other projects created.
