I graduated college almost two years ago and since then, I've had three jobs, two of which I was laid off, and out of those three jobs, two of them paid 7.50 an hour or less.

Right now I'm between jobs. I was laid off my last job in November. I've been applying at different places left and right. I have my resume on places like monster.com, usa jobs, and career builder, but those sites don't do jack.

I might be starting a job pretty soon, but the job itself only pays about 21,000 a year. I know it's better than nothing, but I didn't think I'd be struggling like this when I was in college. You'd think that a college graduate like myself would be able to find a pretty good job for some descent money.

The sad fact is, a lot of people like myself have degrees in different fields but are struggling too. The value of a bachelors degree in something is becoming the new high school diploma. I keep on asking myself was college worth it, was it worth my time, and was it worth my parents money.

So far, I'm leaning towards no. College seems now for me anyway, like a waste of time since I'm still struggling.

Well it very much depends on what you got a degree in. I know many people that took liberal arts, film making or music and can't get work with their degree. I have no idea what you studied. Some fields are way to saturated like IT and certain other technology jobs. I know out of my friends that studied film, all of them are working hourly jobs that anyone with just a high school diploma can get. It's important to study a practical field and not necassarily a fun one. A good all purpose degree is business. Marketing is another really good field. Sure no one likes sales, but that's where the money is.

Well I majored in history, which is interesting but doesn't grant you a good job.

No offense but that's right up there with Radio, TV, film, going to school to study art or music. The best you can do with history is teach. I suggest if you can't do any better than that $20K that you should think about going back and getting a master in business or marketing or something more diverse. No offense, just being honest. Not all college degrees are equal. The less interesting, less fun stuff to study is where the money and jobs are. It's rough to hear but that's life.
