He's a little kid and I think he just wants attention. That is why he is doing this. I think he has different motives from Macey JW. Regardless of his reasons, a 7 year old child does not need to be turned loose on the internet with no supervision. For one thing it's a dangerous place and second adults get fed up quickly with children that are constantly trying to be "cute" for attention.

I don't think this kid is the same situation as Macey JW. Macey JW was a little thief hoping to either trick someone into sending him something for free by getting them to send first and not paying or hoping to make a quick buck by getting someone to send him cash thru the mail. He was a stupid kid that didn't really think his plan out and was just hoping to get lucky. He didn't know what he was doing but I am convinced that his intent was to screw someone over if he could find a sucker.

This is a different situation with this Jake kid. I don't believe he has any malicious intent here. He's just a little kid who is on the computer unsupervised. Unfortunately the new babysitter is the computer instead of the TV. The internet is a dangerous place and a child should not be on here unchecked. You've just got a case of a typical 7 year old showing off for attention. I don't think he grasps concepts like using other people's pics is stealing. The concept of intellectual property is a little to advanced an idea for someone that age. To them stealing is taking candy from a store and not paying for it or taking another kids toy that got left behind at the playground. That being said he has still caused problems and has still made a nusance of himself. I just want everyone to be aware of who he is if you encounter him.

He contacted me tonight thru Myspace wanting to know what I had for sale. He has himself listed as being 20 years old. I was suspicious immediately. He made the mistake of posting his email in a bulletin he had posted and the address was "CEC4Jake" so that was a dead give away. Just be warned here is another one that is out looking for stuff and posing as an adult.

Those of you on my space might also send a report to myspace.com particularly if he's gotten on your list. They probably won't do anything with one complaint but if several people say something about it they are much more likely to take action.

Danny I think you are correct. Like Myspace.com I believe the minimum age is 13 years old. I dont know for sure and I do not know how you'd find out or go about reporting him.

Well when I saw his my space page it had him listed as being 20. They changed the age probably as a result of bad press from Dateline. Myspace.com is not a bad service. The problem is the sick @$$Holes that are drawn to it. It's like a virtual online store for them. If he has another one please give me the address. His old account was already deleted and if he's signed back up Myspace.com should be alerted.

Your best bet Danny is to file a complaint under Groups to Yahoo. Do NOT reference my complaint. Make it look like a unique incident. Say he has been in your groups before as cec4jake and you banned him and he made a new account today and tried to join again (the member since date on the profile is for today which indicates he just made it). Scroll down to the bottom if it asks you if this is enough info. Select "NO" and then fill out the complaint form. Be sure to list his new ID in the space for who you are complaining about and in the body make reference that he has another Yahoo ID he previously used in your group (CEC4Jake) and you know for a fact he is 7 or 8 years old. That is a violation of TOS as you have to be 13. The more complaints they get the sooner he will get blocked.

That doesn't really have any relevance. THey may not take action but just report it. When they get multiple complaints from multiple people on one person they are more likely to deal with it.

Contact Yahoo about it and find the one about emails. Give YOUR email address and his. If we keep complaining and its different folks they will probably do something. Look at your account settings and do full headers when you forward themessage. They will ask you to do taht when they follow up.

Don't make a production of this. Just deny him membership if he applies. You should set your group so people have to be approved. Don't make a soap opera of it or play games. Just tell him he isn't allowed in. If he does get in under the radar under a new name and you are sure it's him banned him then.

He also wouldn't be harrassing people like he is just to keep his cover. Besides, there is no reason for corporate to be "spying" on CEC fans. That would be really over the top. No one is doing anything illegal.

A few notes on that... I dont think anyone is making any real money on that. The pizza time theatre stuff is obsolete anyway. Mostly its a chance to let fans hear stuff they have missed or has not been available in years. CEC does not have the old PTT stuff archived. I have heard rumors they do but I guarantee they don't have stuff like Harmony or Dolli D from the earliest PTT days. They don't even really recognize the retired characters as trademarks any longer and the company is not doing anything to preserve its past. Also, unlike CEI, CEC/PTT has never made this stuff really available to folks outside the company. When you bootleg an RAE show tape, you are directly hurting CEI because they are still in business and that is a sale lost to them. I think if CEI ever closes and the stuff is truly no longer available then that becomes a different issue. With CEC once a tape is done with they don't use it again and they don't make this material available to the general public so for that reason it's sort of a different deal. You aren't really hurting the company by copying stuff off. That being said I really don't copy show tapes anyway because its such a hassel and very time consuming and other fans out there are happy to do this. I think people's time is worth a little something especially if someone wants a complete library of old PTT stuff. Also you have to take into account postage, packaging and the CDs. There is also nothing wrong with selling original legal copies of a show tape. If I have a reel I don't want or I have a duplicate copy and I sell it then I have not done anything illegal. If I make a copy and then sell the original that is a little questionable. At any rate, I don't see any real harm being done to Chuck E. Cheese. Certainly not on any level where they have corporate spies watching our every move anyway.

veganova can you confirm what captslappy said. i agree with him in regards to the showtapes and dvd's from cec i was told that they erase and recopy on the same tape etc. so they would'nt have to spend umteen dollars on blank media. another cost cutting issue! plus i heard if the store returns the tape they get like a $50 credit or something....

I just want to clarify here... when I said they don't use them again, what I meant was that the material on the show tape as a whole is retired. For example, they won't play Summer 92 again in stores. They make a new show every quarter and older shows are not reused as a whole. They might compile skits and songs from several tapes but as far as what is physically on a given tape, that material will never be used again. As for the physical tape itself, they may erase and reuse it. I don't know. I'm speaking only of content here. Not the physical VHS or DVD itself. I am assuming that is what you want verified. I'm not clear on what your question is here as I made several statements. Can you be more specific?

well yes and no... keep in mind when you buy a product, you are buying a copy of it for your use. You aren't buying the idea itself. Anytime you profit from making multiple copies of someone else's work then technically you are breaking the law.

Here are some examples:

Let's suppose I get a CD of the Best of Brittney Spears Vol 1. I hate Brittney. I put it up on Ebay and sell it. I do not make a copy of the CD to retain. I have done nothing wrong.

Let's suppose I have 2 copies of Kenny G's Greatest Hits (original CDs, not pirated copies). I sell my extra copy. That's legal.

I have a copy of the newest Eminem CD. I make copies for 3 of my friends but don't charge them. It's still illegal. Eminem & his record company have lost 3 record sales becasue I gave his CD away.

I have a large library of reels. I copy all of them into a digital system for my show. I sell the entire library of physical reel masters for a tidy profit. That's technically illegal too. I should rightfully retain the original copies of my masters. I should not make illegal copies for myself if I sell the masters. It's the same deal if I had kept the masters and sold the illegal copies.

I make back up copies of all my show material in case one breaks and retain them for my personal use. That is legal.

I have an old album that is long out of print and is not avaiable anymore. I copy it free of charge for a fan. That is probably ok since no one is hurt by the sale since the record is no longer made.

I copy the same album and charge $100 a copy. That's a grey area. It's out of print and not available but I don't own the rights to the material. Technically I should not be making a profit off someone else's work but at the same time it's not available so the artist and record company aren't really losing sales by my copies.

I'm not passing judgement here on anyone or directing this at anyone in particular but just simply stating that those are the facts about copyright laws.

i think its really good that you know that stuff, and you post it too. i totally understand and agree with you, i rarely ever burn cds... the only time i do is when my original bought copy gets scratched and usually i can burn a copy and the copy wont skip!
