Well folks, now that "the Event of the Year" is behind us and a warm memory, it's time to start planning the release of the forthcoming CV4 Dvd Set!

I want to thank both Matt ( the Franchise) and Richard ( Rapid T.) for videotaping the entire event, plus more, for this upcoming release. I think both of them were able to shoot the bulk of what went on those magical days, and Travis and myself shot sporatically...capturing different angles and in my case some post-CV4 events.

So now the big question is: Who would like to have the job of putting all of this footage into a official release for the Fan Communtiy? We all know how fantastic a job Nick ( Billy Bob) did last year for CV3's release. I would love to see the CV4 material editiing together and presented in just as high a quality as he had done.

So Nick, if you are reading this, and would be interested in cutting together this years' CV4 Dvd program, you are more then welcome to. If your schedule does not allow for it, it's ok. We can always have someone else take a shot at putting it together. Everyone here i'm sure would agree though that you are the man for the job, as last years program was nothing short of AWESOME!

Let me know asap, and i will post here where folks should send there footage.

Let's get the ball rolling on this one....as we don't want another late release like the CV2 disc...lol....

If Nick is NOT able to do this years dvd, who here would like to put it together? My next choice would be Franchise as i know he has some video experience. All that needs to be done is the footage editied together into a cohesive program of events, some menus, and bonus features. The cover art will be done by myself, and release will be by Showbizpizza.com.

Any ideas or suggestions please post them here! What do YOU want to see/hear?

Okay....so it's been a couple of weeks now and no response from anyone....

Is there any interest out there?

Billy Bob...where are you?

I would like to edit the CV videos but due to changes forced on me with regards to my TV show, that would be more difficult for me than with CV2 last time. Also my editor only has an 80 gig drive so I would not be able to even load in the CV footage without kicking out all the RTR material currently in progress.

I would like to know how much this will cost

Well I can certainly compile all the DVDs and video into a 2 or 3 disc set...I can't do logos like Nick but did last year but according to him he's really swamped with work and won't have time this time anyway but with my real time DVD recorder I can cut it down into sections and have it nice and neat and in order by event and dub a bunch of copies and you and Travis can do the artwork and packaging like last year... :choochoo:

Gabe...

Do you have the ability to do basic editing or just compilation? I might at least be able to help out with titling and/or graphics, though my equipment is limited in what I can do. What you saw on the CV2 dvd is what I'm capable of. Maybe if we can split up the work and have someone assemble it to a master, that will get it going.

Did anybody else tape at Disneyland? Or the roadtrip down? Maybe I can at least put that together as one of the extra features.

Speaking of extras...is my interview show last year with Looney Bird still going to be included?

Yeah I can only do compilation but that's cool if you wanna do the titling part! I can also duplicate the finished product... ;)

Awesome guys...thanks for the offer to help put this together!

Awww...it's too bad Nick's schedule is all booked up. Ah well, it's ok.

Before it's decided who is going to edit/compile this program, let's hear from Franchise. Franchise, what are you capable of graphic/title wise...and compilation wise? I have seen some of your YouTube vids and have a basic idea.

Would this be a project you would be interested in?

I am all up for having several people work on it at once, that is cool with me....my biggest concern is having the project take many months to finish and getting releases very late in the year.

How much Footage is there? I have Nero 7 ultra enhanced Delux blah blah blah and can edit and produce the DVD if everyone else is going to be "shuffling their feet" on this one.

I have maybe 45 mins...if that. I have mostly the San Jose lives, a nice walk-through the store on both levels, and some shots outside with the Chuck Statue. I also have a little of the Santana Row chess game between the Two Chucks', and some random traveling shots ( like coming down the road to see the Santana Row sign.)

I have some shots of us riding around, mostly from the day the remaining core group went to Rock-aFire Pizza, as well as some footage there of the crap condition show.

There are a few other highlights i managed to capture, but i can;t remember off hand at the moment what they were.

I think Franchise captured the bulk of things, with Richard covering the DisneyLand trip pretty well.

Ok well Franchize just said he can't do it and he has about 5 hours of footage + Jenn's 45 + Richard's time ??

Matt's coming down here and bringing his DVD-R that can put screen shots and logo's AND divide it up into chapter! So we'll do it!

I have somewhere between 1/2 hour or an hour or so. That's just an estimate because I was filming off and on here and there but don't remember exactly. So count me in - I'll send off to whoever is putting this all together.

Also the new format for doing all these discs has been with lightscribe. I'd like to keep the new sets like this too - if you don't have a lightscribe burner I can send out some blank discs and I can lightscribe them once they get back to me. ;)

Ok if everyone's cool with Matt and I doing it he's coming down here this coming Tue and Wed so get your tapes to me by this weekend!! We'll put it together and send the master off to Travis to dup with lightscribe.... and for packaging! :nerd: :choochoo:

I would say too to for simplicity to put it on DVD or VHS cause I don't have like 20 differnt camcorders lol

I CAN get it into the final DVD if it's on VHS, DVD or Hi-8 or Digital 8

Sounds good to me....i talked to Franchise last night so know it's all cool with me.

So it's official folks: Our own Gabe and Franchise will be in charge of putting together this years' CV4 Dvd! Woo Hoo!

Now...everyone who has video footage of anything even remotely related to CV4 PLEASE COPY ONTO DVD OR VHS AND MAIL DIRECTLY TO GABE ASAP. Please PM him here for his mailing address if you need it. The FASTER we all ship him out copies of our footage, the quicker we will get our own dvds!

To Gabe and Matt: What i am looking for is a nicely edited program that covers the entire event..both pre-event and post-event activities. You guys have total creative freedom to do what you would like, but i would like to request that it be heavily themed to Retro PTT ( graphics, music choices, etc.) since this years' CV was a celebration of the 30th Anniversary. I can e-mail or snail mail a scan of the CV4 logo to use for a onscreen image if you need it. Let me know!

The only other request i have is that a "test copy" of the master be sent to me to review before official release. I will get to work on the cover asap.....should not take too long to put togther and duplicate.

Vega, is it easier for me to send you one hard copy of the cover, or would you rather i send multiple copies ( say, 20) to use on the cases as covers?

Thank you guys for offering to help out with the creation of the CV4 dvd! You guys ROCK!

Okay ....so here we are....everyone has sent there footage in.

Any updates on the progress? Not rushing you guys...just curious as to how things are going.

I have now finished the cover for the Cv4 Dvd. Looks pretty good....and thanks go out to many of you who posted photos in the Cv4 Reviews thread. I have included some of those pix on the back cover from Richard, Mentutia, and Franchise.

The cover is nice and retro to fit the theming....and has a bright color scheme to match the eyecatching logo we had this year for the Event. In case you are wondering what the colors were/are...it's yellow, orange, and bright hot pink!

Latest update...

The Covers are now done, and printed, and will be on their way to sunny Colorado next week. :)

Just a reminder: Gabe, be sure to send a test copy of the completed Dvd Program when you are done so i can review it before release. If you need my address, PM me here!

Well i guess i will be the one to break the silence here.....

I have now seen the Cv4 Dvd Set promo that Gabe just sent to me, and it's great!

They did a nice job with what footage they had, and the Bonus Features will be something i think many fans will enjoy having good copies of.

The CV4 Dvd Set consists of three discs this time...

Disc 1 covers the majority of the actual Event...including all the "Official" CV4 activities rather well. The best part by far is the coverage of the 2nd and 3rd floors of the San Jose CEC with our special guest Tom as host. Very nice coverage here..with loads of eye candy scattered about.

Disc 2 covers all the "un-official" or Post-CV4 activities, including Rock-aFire Pizza, various CEC locations including Bell, Placentia, Fullerton ( lol), and more. It ALSO includes some nice Bonus Features including the 83' Nolan Bushnell interview from "People are Talking", the 81' PTT Promo video, and a nice clip from "Evening Magazine" ( i think it's called) covering PTT vs. SPP...a side by side comparison. Also included is some Pre-CV4 footage shot the night before the Event in Danny's room as we open the box of supplies i shipped weeks beforehand, and Donovon's hilarious telling of the story behind the story of the famous "Sing it B****!" moment from CV3! All of it is great stuff!

Disc 3 however is the real gem...at least to me. It is a very nicely done Photo Gallery slide show set to music that covers the entire CV4 Event. The musical choices are perfect and fit the mood well.

So a big thumbs up from me, and hopefully in a few weeks we will see it released and ready for shipping here on ShowbizPizza.com!

HUGE thanks go out to both Gabe and Matt, as well as everyone who sent in video footage. Thanks go out to you for putting this together in a timely manner, and in style! You guys ROCK!
