Chuck E. Across America - Ideas

Hey everyone!

Awhile back an idea was formed to have a "traveling" Chuck E. plush that would travel across America from fan to fan, and visit (be photographed) in front of famous or noteworthy places in their local area. But I wanted to announce that he's nearly finished and ready for his summer roadtrip across the country! We've got an awesome customized plush that will start his journey officially at CheeseVention 4 in CA later this week. From there he'll travel back to Texas with CaptSlappy to visit Dallas area sites.

Now, the reason this post is being made here is because after CV4 the Events Section will be transformed into the official CEC tracking center and we'll log his movment both there and here on the Forum. Right now I wanted to invite ideas about how we can make this concept really work and anything anyone wants to throw into the mix. Hold off on asking for us to send him to you just yet though - I'll start a seperate thread after CV4 that will be for signing up to recieve Chuck. We'll have to screen and approve recipients and set some rules/time limits and instructions on where to send him next before we can get to that point though!

So lets hear some more thoughts and ideas! Oh, and here's the debut of the custom SP.com Traveling Chuck E. Plush (he'll have some more modifications before officially starting his travels).

Thoughts:

How about a interactive map like DSF has for the Rock afire shows across the country?

When is CEC expected to stop his traveling... It should be like the Olympic Torch, and he should conclude at the opening ceremony of CV V (5).

I really like the idea of having Traveling Chuck finish his journey by appearing at CV5, which will more then likely be back in Shiney Happy Danvers. I find it rather fitting that he starts his journey where he literally "started" back in 77', travels to the current "home" of Corporate, and then around the country to end up at CV5. Sounds great to me!

I was wondering if this was in production, and now i see it was! Great work!

Hey gang, Just got back from Sandiego. I took Chuck on the Amtrak with me and he got photos around SD and at Legoland. I'm going to take him around Dallas for a little while before he makes his way onto Boston. I am going to include some souveniers of his trip along with him as well as a list of what all he's done so far. I think each person that gets Chuck should do the same. He wants all of you to know he had an awesome time at CV4, Disney and San Diego!

We might want to consider a week-by-week schedule for him. Who gets him when, and post that so we know who is supposed to send him where.

Make sure people have correct addresses, send dates, and to see who even wants to have him in the first place.

Yes, at CV4 last week. Travel Chuck started at Santana Row ( where the first PTT ever once stood.) There is a photo of him outside in front of a warehouse. It was the only address marked building near the original location..( see CV photo sections here at Showbizpizza.com).

The Captain will post pix of him i am guessing once Chuck has time to visit TX. Captain, i think a shot outside of the Corporate office is in order during his Dallas run!

This is moving too fast for my snail-like updating speed. Jenn's right though about this needing some permanent webspace. The Special Events section will be remodeled (most likely tonight) to reflect the new Chuck E event. That will become the permanent home-base that will house all the photos and info about his journey. Think of that like an archive - I still want everyone to use this Forum to talk about and post photos that are up to date as to his whereabouts and such.

The Events Section will also have all the info on how to get Chuck to your area and we'll try to get a timetable set up for how long you can have him and all the info on who to send him to next, etc.

I'd do the Chuck E Across America thing, but since I'm just a few years short of the 18-and-older mark I can't. But I found a Chuck E plush from '92 in my garage recently (see my post in the CEC section), so that makes up for it. :cec_thumbs:

There's been a lot of posts on here for people interested in getting Chuck - hopefully we can get him out to everyone somewhere along the lines. (Just wanted to mention that I'm not trying to ignore anyone). We have some special plans for him in late July so that part of the summer is closed off, but other than that we're still trying to coordinate his shipments to everyone's schedules.

I wanted to say thanks again to everyone who's taken part so far in this event! I had to snag Travel Chuck back for a 'special project' coming at the end of this week, but while I had him I decided to run him around these parts a bit.

So, yesterday Travelin Chuck arrived in Indiana. Today I worked 13 hours so the only thing I could do with him so far is take him to work with me. I should have time for him to play around my CEC tomorrow. Today he just sat on the break table and got 'ooooo's and 'ahhhhhhhhhhh's from the cast members and my gm, who was confussed.

Actually Chuck is back!

And with any luck he should definetely be at CV5. What will probably happen is that he'll continue on past CV5 and probably call it quits at CV6 (looking ahead here). There was quite a delay, but he's safe sitting here next to me now.

My going plan at the moment (since we finally got him back) is to have him mailed up to the Boston area very soon - like maybe within a few days here, depending on how long Capt needs. Then you guys are free to tote him around wherever you can and then make sure he's there at CV5. I was think he could ride back to NYC with Richard from there.

I still have a list of emails of people who were interested in the event, so I need to get in touch with them to make sure they still are (since it's been like half a year). But this tradeoff into July should work in the meantime! ;)

It would have been awesome to have him over here. Down in Yorktown, VA, there's a lot of historic Civil War materials and he could've been to the beach. Then, maybe he could've visited my store!
