Mask Fitting Help

I bought a billy bob mask on ebay used. I know it isnt in the best condition but it works. the only problem is i have trouble fitting it around the eyes. I cant see how to fit it so the eyelids will be able to work properly. If i shove it eyes through the mask it will interfere with the lids and if i just have the mask sitting the way it fits then you cant see the lids. any advice

also is there anything you put on the mask to help it not deterorate?

The mask is supposed to have snaps between the eyes and on the sides to keep it in the right place and prevent it from pulling down when his mouth opens...there are also supposed to be latex flaps above the eyeholes that go over the eyelids to kind of "seal off" gaps...
